I just installed a 10" xcon that can either be wired at .5 or 2 ohms. It is currently running on a jl audio jx 1000.1 so 1000w at 2 ohms but I really want to get a 2000w 2ohm amp. Having trouble finding a reliable amp that puts that power out at 2 ohms without breaking the bank!! Not sure if my electrical could handle .5 or id give that a shot.. I drive a mazda tribute stock 110 amp alt and stock battery... Don't really think I can do over 1000 @ 0.5ohm

now that i got my subs and box done, its time to look for an amp. not looking to spend too much on an amp right now. would like to send 600 rms to each sa12. trying to stay under $300, ive been looking around the web and found a couple that i might be interested in. but i wont get it unless you guys say its a good buy. this one i just came across, not sure about the brand though http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7635-bamf-20001d-power-acoustik-monoblock-2000-watt-class-d-amplifier.aspx heard soundstream was pretty legit, so i found this one http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9571-dtr11700d-soundstream-1700w-d-tower-series-class-d-monoblock-power-amplifier.aspx read on Steve Mead Desig…

Ok guys I recently put in an 18" fi bl with a Sundown Sae-1200dv2 into a 2009 ford escape. The box is around 7 cubes tuned to 32 hertz. Amp is being ran at 1 ohm. All power and ground wire is being ran in 1/0 Knu. Under the hood i have only upgraded my battery negative to chassis ground power wire to 1/0 ga. Everything is properly installed wiring wise, I'm having a problem with the amp going into protection mode when playing music higher volumes. The bass boost is all the way down on the amp and the gain is set to 1/2 and everything else was set by a buddy of mine more experienced with car audio. What happens is when i have the gain on my knob turned up to about 3/4 mayb…

  7. I currently have a CDA-9855, but the CD player is starting to skip rather easily. I want to know what would be some good HUs. I'd like it to have HPFs and a LPF with adjustable slopes,2 way and 3 way xovers, graphic eq and/or parametric eq, time correction, full speed ipod/iphone capability. I think the 9887 is nice but does anyone have experience with them as well as "imprint"? Thanks

I think my current wire from the alt is 8 gauge. It goes into a solenoid or something before the wire goes to the battery. I can't upgrade the wiring to 1/0 straight from the alternator to battery. Since my alternator is placed in the middle side of the engine. I tried getting to it but is impossible. Gotta pull the engine up or take most of the parts off it. So frustrating. Would it matter much about the alternator to batt wire size? Since the output on the alt isn't switched I'm just running stock alt.

Its been awhile since I posted. But I'm back in the stereo business now. And the shop here sold someone a Power Acoustic "CAPCELL" 800-amp. 2 months ago. She came in today and her woofers basically sounded like they were crying. She thought they were blown. I crawled in and looked and the Capcell was displaying 8.24v and when it would hit would drop as low as 6.96v some time. Basically I don't have any experience with capacitors because I dislike them. But this is a hybrid so I wonder how can I recharge it. Just hook it on a battery charger for a few hours? The system is a SPL GRLA5500.1 on CVX154ohm x 2 http://www.poweracoustik.com/pa2006/product_AUDIO_addon_CAP…

So I just placed an order for the new Crescendo Mezzo components and I was wondering how to wire them up once I receive them. I have a 2 channel Kicker ZR1000 (I got it for $30 and it works perfect ) that I will use to power them. The only problem is that I'm not sure what to put the crossover module at. The options are bypass, lowpass and hipass. I used the hipass for the coaxials, but I'm not sure if that would be used for the components, since it has the crossover box. Also, I'm going to keep my stock head unit. I have 2 Crescendo BC2ks (strapped) and the kicker ZR1000. What should I use to connect the RCAs up to? For my friend's cars, they have a little blue box fro…

I will be installing a 270amp Alternator and looking to put either 2 Xs D3100's or maybe something else i guess some like the Xp 3000's for daily ? I will be powering 2 Sundown Saz 3000d's at a final ohm load of 2ohm's (Each amp will see 1ohm load) didn't know if ohm load made a difference but none the less. Just looking what would work best and make me not have to worry about frying my amps or having the chance of heating these amps up big time from huge voltage drops etc. I might be looking at throwing up a diehard platinum 31m in the front if it will fit as well as doing the big 3. Also how many runs of 0gauge should i run from the front battery to the back ? Doing …

  12. Whats going on guys, I'm facing a little dilemma. About a month ago I ordered two SSA Xcon 12's, I was planning on running them on my Audiopipe APCL3000 monoblock, but from what I hear these things are comfortable at a little above their rated power handling (1750 rms each), so I decided that I was going to only used the Audiopipe 3000 to break the subs in, then I will be upgrading to a bigger amp (maybe a 4000-5000 watt monoblock). I ordered my subs at DVC 2ohm so that I could wire them both in series up to 4ohm, then wire the subs together in parallel to give my Audiopipe amp a 2 ohm load, because that's where its stable and makes its power at. But now I can't find an…

You guys pick. Memphis amp or Viper amp. Viper claims to put out more power, the memphis is rated at 1100 but birth sheets that I have seen prove that it can put out 1200-1300 watts. Ok so I am about to add a battery soon to my system and I was talking to a local audio place and he said an idea and wanted to make sure it would work without issue's. So When i run my wire back from my front battery I need to place a fuse close to that battery, Then everyone always says you should place another fuse right before the rear battery on the same power line. Then I wasn't for sure if you need another fuse between the rear battery and the amp also since its only like a 2-3ft wire of power?... But ok.. so he said instead of buying a fuse near my rear battery and a fuse between the amp and rear battery ( because this would = 3 total fuses ) He said on the rear b…

Well I was driving around my area full tilt today no problems. But when i took my 20 min drive to work after about 15 min of playing full tilt it starts going into protect. Only when its loud though. Anyone know what could be the problem? I double checked all my wiring im pretty sure its all right the fact that it only goes into protect at the loudest volume. My thinkings are though Could my rca's put out a bad signal? I am only running 4g to my ground could that not be effecient enough? I dont have my wired fused coming off the second battery but the distance is very short could that be the problem? Also earlier i did accidently put the power wire into the ground input s…

So I went to a local car audio shop today to see if I could use their DMM. I wanted to get voltage and amp readings to see what my amp was really doing. Of course, first thing he has to be a funny guy and ask me if i need new subs because I replaced the ones I bought from him with a BTL. He lets me use his occilloscope and I take my first reading with car off at batt. 15.5 VOLTS!!! Uh...Wtf? So then Im scared to even start the truck and see what it says then. 18.3 VOLTS!!! SHIT!!! Jumped in under the hood and turned the external voltage regulator set screw all the way down on the alt. This screw was never adjusted by me at all before, mind you. I installed the alt and le…

i have a 12in SSD, hifonics 1208d amp (i know, i know). i have the hu settings as follows: sub level 10 out of 15. bass on 0 (-7/+7). then on the amp the bass eq is set around halfway, and the subsonic is set around 27-28 i believe. when i have the gains about 3/4's and the volume around 20/35, i start smelling WOOD. im like 95% sure its wood, and not glue from the sub. but i haven't heard of anyone else say anything about this. am i just a noob or what? im afraid to turn mine up cause of this. also, how much of an effect does all this have on the battery and alt? i have all stock wiring and plan to do big 3, just haven't got the money yet. i baby it most of the time. if…

i still got my fi bl 15" sitting in my room waiting to be installed into my 04 chevy colorado. my box is 3.9 ft^3 tuned @ 32 hz. i finally decided to go with sundown amps over rockford because i can get them cheaper. but i cant decide between the saz1500 or the sae1200. i can get the saz1500 $570 and the sae1200 for $350. i talked to jacob (sundown audio owner) and he said that the saz1500 is actually 1800 at 1 ohm and the sae1200 is actually 1500 at 1 ohm. will the bl be able to handle the saz1500? or should i just stick with the sae1200...plus its cheaper . im actually leaning towards the saz1500 but im afraid that it will be too much for my bl since im gonna be playin…
