Looking for a cheap amp for a friends car, he'll be buying my SA12s. Needs 1200 at two ohms. Are the Hifonics BRZ amps good? I found one for 200$ new.

  2. So here is my setup in the back of my crew cab: You can follow the blue 4ga OFC and see the power inputs for the amp. My question is in regards to the ground. Right now the 100.4 (on the left) is grounded to the bolt you can see through the carpet almost under that amp. The 1000D is not hooked up yet, but I don't really think a run of 4ga to that same bolt is a good enough ground. Do you guys agree? I was originally planning to put a bolt through the floor right under the 1000D and ground both there, but the fuel tank is directly below that amp. I have 4ga OFC as well as some spare 1/0 CCA. Here are the options I see: A) Get a 1/0 to 4ga reducer for the ground input and…

Ok so i have a brz2400 that is rated to do 2400rms at 1 ohm. my question is about the fusing of the amp, it has no internal fuses, jus the one under the hood for the power wire. so with that said, would it be required to externally fuse the amp? and how would i go about doing this? what would be the correct size fuses? how many? where to put them? etc........ also what would be a good fuse to put under the hood for the amp power cable? there is a 150 in the holder right now and it is zero gauge cable, is that good enough? if not, what would be a recommended size for that with my amp? i am building my system for 2 12 xcons in my tc and i want to do it right the first ti…

I've been looking for a big 5000 or 6000 watt amp kit. Do they even sell any kits like that, or do I need to buy all the wires and cables ect. separate? I'm running an Atomic AT-5000.1D I'm looking to buy one of the best amp kits to run with this amp. Basically because, I paid all this money for this amp so I don't want to get a cheap amp kit. But you know how that is. Thanks everyone!

I picked up an Orion 2250 SX on OfferUp for $75 (happy birthday to me!). It was advertised as not-working, but it looks good visually and I thought I MIGHT want it repaired. The problem is I can't find anyone who repairs the older stuff. Amp Medics is 40 minutes from my house, but Steve stopped fixing the old ones (parts are impossible to get). DB-R stopped fixed legacy amps back in 2010. So, anyone know anyone who is willing and able to fix my Beast? (I know technically only the Orion XTR 2250 was called the Beast, but I choose to ignore that fact).

If you follow my build log you'll see I'm gonna be running an aq 2200 to an 18 btl at 1 ohm. My car has a 135 amp alt but I'm pretty sure ill need some batts. I have room for 2 large batteries but I'm unsure of what kind. Would 2 of the everstart maxx batts from walmart work? Or do I have to use a deep cycle battery? Also do I have to replace my batt under the hood? Also do I have to match my batteries in the trunk with my main battery? Big 3 will be done all wire will be 1/0 also. Thanks if more info is needed please let me know.

  11. I have about 30 1990's amplifiers. Mostly Precision Power. I want to test the amplifiers both for functionality and for max unclipped output. I will record the data on a spreadsheet. I will also record by video. Method : Power supply - 12v car battery Source - Ipod Load - (2) 200w 8ohm non-inductive resistors Oscilloscope - DSO Nano panel meter for measuring power supply voltage Amplifier output, resistor, DSO Nano, and volt meter connections "Switched" turn-on Positive and negative blocks Wattage will be calculated using P=E^2/R. Resistance of the dummy load will be measured before and after the test. Are there any faults in my testing method? First amp tested i…

So this is just some crappy system that I bought from my friend cuz he needed money. Its a Sony Xplod GTR2022 amp with 2 Kenwood 12s. After using it in my car for a few weeks the amp decides to go into protect mode. So I turned off my car and took a look at the amp and it looks like my ground wire fell out of the amp when I was driving. So i connect the ground back up and make sure everything is all hooked up right and started driving again. Here is where the problem is, the amp and subs are fine until I turn the volume up to 14 then the amp goes into protect mode and the subs of course cut out. Now I usually had the volume up to about 36 on the regular. Since its Arizon…

what does everything think of these? i had the 1500 watt version early in the year running 4 ohm on an old school eclipse 12, never ran hot, had no issues with it and i loved the small size of it but people either love it or hate it. i only ask because audiopipe came out with a new 2000 watt model and it looks promising as does most AP products due to cost/watt ratio. looking to actually compete this next year in street stock and street trunk. I'm working with a budget of about $400 for an amp. Ramrod and i have been talking but i also want to get some input from others in the competition world. will end up running either 2 12 gcons or icons. just waiting on the w3s i hav…

Well I don't know if I'm growing up, or just really wanting some better sound, but I'm really wanting a nice sq front stage. Unfortunately I can only adjust the placement of the speakers in the door panels for now, but maybe down the road I'll be able to do some more custom fabrication. This is an 01 tahoe if it makes a difference btw. I am running a set of realm audio 6.5 components off an eclipse ea4000 as my front stage at the moment. I would like to try a 3-way active setup, still using the realm 6.5s and tweeters, and getting either a 7 or 8 inch mid. I plan on running the 6.5s and 7s/8s off an eclipse XA4001 (or another ea4000) 4 channel, and 2 channels of the last …

  20. Hey all, I have a USB and the jack that connect to my iPOD. Is the USB just for information/control and the jack for the music? Can I use the jack for input from my PC? here is a link that has a pic of the back, the top left corner has 2 wires coming out, the bottom black wire is like a regular headphone/mic/line in/line out jack. Can I run a PC/laptop out into this to playback PC/laptop sound through my system? Also, when i purchased the $900 unit a key reason was for the optical out... listed at this site still, though discontinued. I spent an extra $100 for an optical cable only to find a rubber plug where the optical out is supposed to be, was told by my local Alpine …

I had a Memphis 16-PR1.500.1 given to me a few days ago.I was told it was cutting in and out,so I hooked it up 4 days ago.The first 2 days no issues, went out yesterday started my car no output from the amp.I pop the trunk amp is on fan running, not in protect then out of nowhere it starts playing.May play two days may play 5 minutes, then it stops again,so I hit it with my hand it instantly goes back to playing! So I'm thinking something has gotten loose on the internals somewhere. Was curious as to what some of you thought about it.

I've started looking at amps for my SPl set up so I know how much I need to save. I really dont want to spend more than $500 but i know that is kinda hard. Im looking for something that can drive my Ava at 4ohm well or 1ohm with the gains down and do some good SPL runs at 1ohm with my Custom Woofage DP. I was looking at the 20.1 but that is alot of money. Kicker, Orion, they all cost lots of money for lots of power. I know power cost money but does anyone know where i can get the hook up? Ive yet to talk to my GF's uncle about a kicker amp. assumeing i could get one what would be a good amp to suit my needs.
