Hey guys, The system in my 2011 Ram is driving me crazy... Here is what is going on. At high volumes the draw from the amplifiers is kicking my trucks ass. The dash lights are dimming, the voltage drop is causing my HID lights to kick on and off, and I'm pretty sure that the PCM is trying to compensate by increasing the voltage regulation from the alternator. The voltage regulator is controlled by the PCM. It is not built into the alternator. When it is playing loud, it seems like the PCM is kicking the voltage up to about 15.5v according the my Bel radar detector voltage display and the HI VOLT warning it keeps flashing and beeping at me. The truck has a 180amp alternato…

I can get both amps BNIB for ~900.00 shipped. of the two which would you pick? I know you would automatically think the BC5500 because of the 1000 rms difference, but based on clamp results, I've seen Sundown amps do very close to this at 1ohm. FWIW my mids and highs amps are Sundown and it would be nice to match BUT it's not the end all be all of my decision as they won't be seen. this is not a VS thread, I know they are both stout amps, this is more of a poll to tip the scales as I'm pretty much even in my decision and it would be nice to get some fresh perspectives and maybe others will know something that I don't about each amp.

I just picked up an electronic xover and each of the 3 outputs have a "level" setting which I assume is like an amps "gain" control....How do I set that correctly? The manual does not specify how to do it.

I see people saying their rms "clamped" all the time, I'm curious to know what my Memphis is actually putting out. I have an amp probe and a dmm. How would I go about clamping my amp to see the power it is putting out?

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new amplifier, I'd like to see something that will do 2-2500 rms and prefer something that will run @ .5 ohm. I've ran American bass VFL's in the past and have had good luck with them. Does anyone have any suggestions otherwise? I'd like to keep it around the 4-500 dollar mark.

I was at a local shop today browsing and I see a rf 3sixty .1 says he will take $199 for it. Seems decent as far as price. My plan is for my new Malibu I'm buying everything before I install. 2 sa12's, crescendo bc2000, fosgate t1 components, rf power t400.4..etc those things I have now. I want a clean sounding system that of course hits nice and hard. I have no experience with processors. The components will be in stock locations with no intentions of altering that. Head unit will be changed so no need for the oem integration part of the 3sixty just RCA ins. I assume if I plan to use the 3sixty I'll have to ditch the passive crossovers..correct? Which will become an ac…

Ok I ran 0 gauge wiring for my saz-2500. I put a 250 amp inline fuse and as soon as I connected the negative terminal the inline fuse blew. So I pulled out the wiring to make sure it wasnt cut went it went through the firewall and disconnected the amp. Ran the wire outside the car without the amp connected and the fuse didn't blow. Connected the amp and the fuse blew once I connected the neg terminal. Faulty amp or am I missing something? Amp was a refurbished purchased from db-r.com. Any ideas I'd appreciate it.

This topic is to help a friend at work. He recently bought a 1996 Lexus ls400, he loves the stock system as far as clarity just wants to add some bass. It has a stock free air 8" in the rear deck but its guttless on any bass. He doesn't want anything outrageous just needs to get it bumpin a little bit. What do you guys suggest he do? He has mentioned maybe just find another free air 8 to replace what's there...who makes a decent free air 8? Maybe do a LOC and just add a sub and amp to the trunk?..but he has a stock amp and I have no clue how that works.. Another question he asked me was if he changes his stock head unit, will he lose the ability to use the stock amp and e…

Recently my sub hasn't been giving me the same output as usual. I figured it was because of the cold but the output never really changed once it warmed up. So idk whats wrong but basically its at half the volume it used to be. I thought maybe I messed something up on the sub itself but the voice coil wasn't burnt, and there there was no mechanical noise. Basically everything looked fine. I checked the rcas and they were fine, so was all the other wiring. I redid everything on the amp just in case. The wiring on the sub was fine because I haven't touched it in months. Head unit setting are normal, nothing changed. Any thoughts? Gain is also at 3/4. Never once played my su…

well back at the turkey drag show someone broke into my ride and stole all my amps, and my hu, plus some other random stuff. so i figured this is a good chance too upgrade. picked this up off of LEM43606, shipping was fast, he had everything the amp came with as if bought new, even the brown factory shipping box the display factory box is shipped in. and he went a little beyond what is necessary, and made me some vinyl decals for my car. would not hesitate too do business again with him. OH i guess i should stop being a tease and show some picks. (maybe that sounds corny, but hey i am a stereotypical white guy lol) for size reference. now i just need my me…

Some of you may remember the build I did for my sister in her 2002 Durango and the resulting review I wrote for her 12" DCON afterward, may not. It currently consists of a Kenwood KDC-X493 HU, Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5 components in the front, JBL GTO 6.5" coax's in the rear doors, the DCON all powered by a Hifonics ZXi8010 five channel amp. Now, I mentioned in the review that it was easy to reach the limitations of the amp and hear it through either the highs or the sub. We did a little playing around recently and connected that DCON to my Sundown in the van and there was a night and day difference. I would attribute most of that to the MAJOR headroom the SAZ2K has at 2 o…

Anyone have any first hand experience with upgrading a stock amp/signal processor in a MK5 Jetta to the Dynaudio one out of the Passat or Toureg? Is it worth the $600-$800 for the part? Ryan

Is this normal? I guess its hard to say, but I own a 2004 Impala, stock alternator. My battery finally died after 9 years of use and when I threw the new one in its charging at 15.5volts. Im just hoping a regulator isnt shot or anything stupid. Obviously constant overcharge can cause batteries to prematurely fail. Just checking to make sure everything is normal here.

I'm looking for a nice 2 channel amp to power my new IA components. I was browsing and found a soundstream rubicon 2 channel that Puts out 130x2 at 4 ohms and 225x2 at 2 ohms. What do you guys think? Are they decent amps? I found one for like 135. Any insight would help.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Or the line. I used to run The old SPL's SPL160s and the Rubi 1002. Did very well with them. I know epsilon owns them now. Do they do rated, Efficient, Will they run at .67 or .5 Ohm? any and all help is appreciated. Price wise and Numbers they look good but after Carrying and running American Bass and Power bass Amplifiers it's kinda hard to deviate.

Ok. I will give as much info as I can. I have $600 for a new amp. I have 2 FI Q 15s dual 2s in an 8 cube box at 33hz walled. It's a daily setup. Right now I have 2 older hifonics Amps and I'm running them at 4 ohms. So right now I have about a 500 watt system. What amp will be the best bang for my buck thats around 3000 watts? And how much of a difference will a new good amp make compared to the 2 hifonics Amps I have now?

I was happily enjoying my new (old) amp, when it turned off. I assumed the remote wire came loose again, end of story. The terminals are screws but with no plate so it slides out easily. (Before you ask, no short, it was in line of sight the whole time). I re-connected the remote wire, and nothing. Simply will not turn back on. No blown fuse, no smell, heck, not even warm. I have no idea where to begin looking for the culprit. I'd post pictures of the damage but there is none that is visible... Any ideas on how to fix this situation? I love this amp, and would hate to retire it to paperweight status.

well guys, i may finally have a buyer for my alt. so i have been looking into some alternators for my new truck. i can either get a mechman 270 BNIB for $250 (never ran or mounted before) or a mike singer 260 for $250 thats 4 months old. which do you guys think would suit me better. im still running 1 ssa zcon 15 on my AQ3500.1 @ 2ohm (2600watts) and in the future (in the next year or so) id like to add a second zcon. i will be purchasing a extra battery or two ( shuriken BT-80's) and im running all 0 gaughe with a 250amp fuse under the hood and 2 200amp fuses in the distribution block at the amp.
