I am looking for an amp to power my new front stage. Have come across a crescendo 1000c4 and a 125.4. The sundown is a bit more but I can splurge if it is worth it. I have never heard these brands in person but have not heard a bad thing about either one. My goal is sq. It will be powering an active front stage, 8 ohm hds tweeters, and 8 ohm 7" woofers in the stock door locations. Will I notice a difference in sq between these 2? How about overall quality? Is the sundown really worth almost twice the money? Or will I be just as well off going with my original plan and get a new ppi 900.4? Any advice opinions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone hear has any experience with critical mass amps. I know they are crazy money but that isnt my concern. I just want to know if they can throw out decent power. I had picked up the v2 series pretty cheap and have not used them yet. I didnt want them, but my buddy needed money for his house. Any input good or bad would be nice. I have put a side the money for a sundown 1500d for the summer, but in the mean time i was thinking of swaping my pdx 1000-1 for the critical mass v2 sub amp. Should I do it? (the v2 are the smaller black ones)

So what would happen if I crossed the power and ground on the amp? Yes, I did this accidentally, for less than 5 minutes ! The amp does have a reverse polarity protect on it, but what damage, if any, have I done? Is it completely fried? I went ahead and put the wires back in correctly, and I still got no sound to my fronts. Thanks for your replies

I keep hearing over and over to spend the money on speakers and processing. I am debating on buying a zapco ref. 360.4 and a 1100.1. This will set me back like 1400 bucks for new stuff from an authorized dealer. I am highly considering scratching the zapco amps and going with Crossfire. Either a vr404 or 2 - vr402's for the active front stage and a vr1000d for subs. I know Crossfire has a stellar reputation for SPL amps and that. Anyone have some good SQ competition with any of their class AB amps? The processing will not be an issue as I will be using an Audiocontrol MVC, 6XS, and 2 - EQT's. Thanks for any and all opinions or comments.

ok, here's the situation. i've been out of the game for a while and am jumping back in with both feet but have a little area of concern, i will be running a 100.4 on all my mids and highs for front stage and rear fill but have also been toying with throwing a Audio Control eqs 6 channel crossover at it as well. My concern here is that with all the crossover points between the eqs and the amps, that there will be some serious tuning issues to the point of wanting to pull out what ever hair i have left. ( yes i am considered an old fart in the car audio world now, 33 on wednesday) I am open to suggestions here on which routes to go as far as ditching the idea of the eqs a…

Hi, was wondering if anybody could help me. I have been looking around trying to figure out how to cross over my system correctly but have not come up with a clear answer. I am in the process of upgrading my system, currently running 1 fi q on 1 q1-2200d as well as 4 coaxial speakers on an alpine cde-141 with the power pack connected to it. I was running the passive crossovers on the headunit at 80hz but now I am getting another fi q and q1-2200d and taking out the coaxial speakers and replacing them with 2 crescendo 8" pwx and 4 crescendo ft1 tweeters and running them with kicker kx800.2 and kx800.4 amps. The 2 pwx speakers will be in the front with 2 of the tweeters a…

I have an Eclipse CD-8053 CD player which I love. It have a built in Crossover, However it can not do everything I need. I need a outboard Crossover that will work in conjunction with the Eclipse r all by itself to control a 3 way or 4 way system I have a SI Sub CDT EF8 Midbass CDT ES520 Components. Now either I need to break the audio line in 3 spots and use 3 amps and let the Components Crossovers do the work between the 5.25 driver and the tweeters, Or I can buy a 4th small amp to run the Tweeters off the new crossover. My Main concern is that its adjustable, and will not introduce any new noise, in other words a SQ piece! Let me know if you have any suggestions. I …

I have been looking at the clarion eqs746 dash mount crossover. Not sure if I like the idea that my head unit has 3 rca outputs and the EQS746 only has one input. I am interested in installing a crossover but was thinking of looking at a trunk mounted model. thoughts??? Opinions???? model suggestions for the trunk mount models??? have been looking at Audio control and I have a MTX RT-X02i used in the 90's looking to improve my current sound output. I feel like I am missing something just haven't figured that out yet.

I am currently running a set of Crystal 6.5" componants on my Sundown 100.4 The HU Is a Pioneer DEH-P6000UB I keep having some "popping" from the mids.........as if they are almost over excurting at times. HU High Pass is set at 125 Hz The amp is set at Full Range. I cannot seem to find a way to shut off the High Pass on the HU and i wonder if turning on the High Pass on the amp could cause some issues. Also what could be the other causes of this besides it being too low a crossover point? Gain is slightly less than 3/4 no bass boost or anything else. Ideas are VERY welsome. J

For Black Friday I found a great deal on an iPad mini and want to use it as my new head unit. I have done some research on how to hook it up and now have a few questions. I found the iStreamer that takes the signal from the iPads USB connector and converts to RCA but right now that piece is way out of my price range. So instead I wanted to use a 3.5mm to RCA output to run my amps. What I was planning was running the 3.5mm to RCA into the aux input on a Clarion EQS746 and running each output to its amp. Front going to my tweeter amp. Rear going to my mids amp. And obviously sub going to my sub amp. Will the EQS746 act as a crossover so I can control my system actively out …

  25. I'm about to install my system, looking around at the stuff I have sitting around, and I started to wonder if there may be a better way to do this. Here's my plan: PG RSd 65 components in Front 2x Sundown SD-1 (the old 8 ohm ones - which creates part of my dilemma) sealed in 1.5^3ft. Sundown SAX-100.4 So, the original plan was simple, run the components off the front channels using the passive XO included with them. Run the subs parallel off the rear channels of the amp. Lots of flexibility with the subsonic filters, bass boost, active XO in the sundown, as well as some basic stuff on my HU. Simple right? Then, I realized I have this old RF 200a4 sitting here unused. …
