Got a super old school 40x4 sony from a buddy of a mine and he said it worked. Spent all day running all the wires, got it hooked up and the power light comes on.. But there is something wrong, the only way I can describe it is a very loud thumping every second or so.. I have 2 sets of rca's ran and I think that could be the problem is me not having them set up right. On the back of my head unit I have the rca's hooked up to the sub amp fine. Then I have 2 pre-outs one set for the front and one set for the rear, well on the amp there is a,b,c,d and I'm not sure how this should be set up.. And the 2 sets of rca's are different idk if that makes a difference. Is this amp bl…

One of the big things that changed while I was gone from car audio is the 4volt plus rca outputs from head units. My situation is I really want to use an Alpine 7904s or 7903s as my source. These units do not have high voltage line outs but can an Audiocontrol Three.1 fix that for me or is there a better way? Pre-Amp Line Driver: Amplifiers require a high voltage input signal (generally 2 to 5 volts) to operate with maximum dynamic range and the best signal-to-noise ratio. On the other hand, typical source units only produce 1 to 2 volts, if your lucky. In a system where the source unit is located in the front of the car and the amplifier(s) are located in the rear, the…

I have been using a stock HU with a LO convertor.... and I want to get the most out of my system. Problem is, I have a tahoe and I don't want to kill the functionality of onstar / anything else. What I want is a touch screen radio that is reliable and has good eq adjustments. I also need to plug my Ipod into it..... nav isn't really needed but it would be nice too. I was wondering if any of you would have some suggestions? Thanks

So I was demoing my Sundown 1500 amp to some guys, and thought I may have heard something that sounded like some slight whirring. I didn't think it was anything to worry about as everything was sounding fine, I turned everything off and turned off the car. When I started up the car the next time: nothing. Checked all fuses, they were fine. Not even going into protect. Any ideas? It is quite hot out there today, as well.

I need some help guys/gals. I will most likely be running a set of Focal 165K2P comps and a 12" ED kv.2 sub from Elemental Designs. The sub can handle anywhere from 400-900 watts and the 165k2p's are a 200W max speaker although i have been told they can handle every bit of 200W if done correctly. I would like to buy one nice amp to power both the comps and the sub. the first amp i have found that is capable and in my price range is the SoundStream TR800.5. its a 5 channel amp that does 200x2, 400x1 in bridged mode. Amp specs found here>>> http://shop.store.yahoo.com/discave/trsost5chcar.html This seems like the perfect amount of power for the comps and the sub. I…

O.k. here is the deal. I have 8 sets of SoundStream RF-60C component speakers (6" midwoofer, 25mm tweeter, and crossover). I just found out that I have 2 blown crossovers (so far). Being that each set has a rms power rating of 180watts, I thought I could get away with running 1 crossover per 4 midwoofers and 4 tweeters. This gives me a 1.7Ohm load. I was just told not to do that as the crossover will not handle the power. O.k. then, my next question goes here. Since the amplifier that I will be using has a built in crossover, do I really need to use the crossovers that come with the components? I am pretty sure this can be done without a problem, but want to be sure. I kn…

Hey all. I have a Saz2500D and an excessive amperage 225 amp alt. Big 3. Autocrat gold batt up front. Anyways, my voltage runs off all over the place (it will drop down 2 volts and sometimes spike up to 16V!!!). Sometimes those spikes will even cause my radio to turn off for a second. Do you think adding a yellowtop or something similar in the back near the sub amp will help voltage drop and these irregularities? Resting voltage is 14.9V. Maximum drops are high 12's. Thanks

I'm adding a second battery and want/need to get a battery isolator. The battery is an XS XP750 AGM Battery Power Cell and I'm getting it because I have a 160 amp alternator, NVX JAD 800.4 and Rockford Fosgate T-1500bd. That RF amp pulls 180 amps max (I don't typically listen to sine waves) so I need a 200 amp isolator, correct? Would there be any harm getting the 500 amp isolator because (believe it or not) I can find them cheaper (and in stock) than the 200 amp models.

I have a 110amp alternator and I hope to get a sundown 2500d amp. If I were to get http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/XS-Power-D6500-Battery.html would I get by? Im willing to get two of them if necessary. I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze and idk if there is any alternators on the market for this car. So would simply upgrading battery's allow me to run this amp fine?

My Memphis 1500 crapped out on me so i'm in need of a new amp. I was looking at either a Clarion DPX11551 or a Hifonics BXi 2610D. Both are going to be run at 2ohms. Any pros or cons on these amps?

Like the title says I am looking to put 2 12" FI Q's in my 05 ford focus. Ive never built a box but plan on trying to build this one haha. Any recommendation anyone has that would power these 2 well would be great. I currently have a 12 w3v3 hooked up to a TMA 500.1 amp (think thats right). The new box can be either ported or sealed, as i don't mind going across the entire width of the trunk, i will however need to leave the first foot and a half or so of the trunk open for my golf bag( plus room for flex? or mount up?). Thanks for your time guys.

Hey fellas.... Just got this HU installed the other day... Lovin' it soo far.. Some questions: Slope - I have the option of 6db, 12db, or 18db for the subwoofer... Currently I have it at 18db with a cutoff of 100hz ... Good/bad? Ideas? I don't have a great front stage so I thought going up that high would help with overall sound... On the speakers I have them crossed at 125hz with a 12db slope instead of a 6db since I don't want the speakers to sound like crap going below that 125hz... Am I doing this correctly?? Last thing I need to ask... This HU has a voltage read out for the battery???? WTF hugesurprisewhenIsawthisinthedisplay!!!! Is that a true voltage reader or ina…

Anyone know if the CCD-2400's are strappable? I just ordreed a pair of them and am trying to find out and Concept's Tech support has been less than fabulous. Trieid for over a week to get them to answer and email with a few questions with no response. I have called them half a dozen times with no answer at the Tech support line. So I have left some messages with no response. Is it possible they have just one tech guy and he is on vacation? I hope this is not a sign of things to come from them.

Here's the thing, i was considering getting 2 - 12" older model p3s, 2ohm subwoofers, Power Handling (Watts RMS): 400 Watts RMS 800 Watts Max With this amp http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1000x2 Rated Power (RMS Continuous Power): 300 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm 500 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm wired with the 2ohm version If i can't find the older ones in 2ohm, i've come across the 4ohms, but wiring them would only deliver 300 watts, is this enough or do i have to get the 10"(which only require 300)? going in the trunk of a car, have 39" width and want to do less than 8" deep, ~16-18 high(considering leaving a spot on th…
