Well a few days ago I got a FI Q powered by a Sundown SAE-1000D. So far I'm loving it and everything seems to be working right. I previously had a different amp with a pair of sundown SD-1's and I used all of the same connections. The only thing I really changed was the ground. As ghetto as it may seem, I had a 4awg power cable with 8awg ground. Since I just bought a new to me amp, I didn't want to run it this way anymore and replaced the ground with 4awg. So today I was heading out to the store and I happened to glance into the trunk. I have a Bmw 325i sedan with folding seats and I had a clear view of where the fuse holder is. I kind of noticed something but wa…

  3. Hey everyone, I got a sundown x18 powered by a hifonics zeus 1800 and crescendo components to the doors on 600w hifonics zeus. I was running this setup for a couple weeks with stock battery, stock 75a alternator, and no big 3 with no problems at all. With the stock setup, my volts were around 14.2v at idle and when I turn my system up it usually drops from around 13.1-11v and the stock alternator kept up pretty well. I decided to get a new Kinetik 1800w battery, a 175a alternator, and I did the big 3. When I did all of this, my system got worse. My volts were running at around 13.4-13.7 and when I did something as little as rolling up my windows, it drained he volts all…

I'm helping a friend put together his system. This has to be such a rookie question but its something I've never had to deal with, all my systems I buy decks with enough RCA outputs. He refuses to spend money on a deck. He has a few laying around but only have 1 set of outputs on each deck. He plans to use 2 amps in his system (highs amp and sub amp) what's the best method to do this as far as running the rca's.

my fuse is one where i have to strip wire, but a ring terminal on both ends, then put the terminal over the posts that i tighten the nut on that holds the fuse in place. i first used the terminals that came with the kit, i just smashed the wire into the terminal on the ground with a hammer (ik im a noob but it worked for the battery end). it slipped out when i was running my wire, so i started over with both ends, and used a vice this time to hold the wire into the terminal. they slipped out AGAIN, ( ) so then i said F it and just smashed the raw wire between the fuse and nut, lol. what should i do!? the fuse is just gonna be sitting under my back seat in my explorer if …

  7. Should i change my mosconi gladen one 120.4 amp for 2 mosconi pico 2 please advice, my main concern is overheating of this pico 2 since i dont have information about that small little thing i do plan to listen lots of hours of music in my car when i am travelling and this pico 2 doesnt have any fan or any heat dissapation at all , i consider changing my mosconi gladen 120w x 4 to two mosconi pico 2 i will save space that way and since my speakers are rated at 75w i dont need 120w power. If someone ever used pico 2 tell me is it overheating is it suffers from any problems...

A carry over from Fordexplorer.net Charging System Basics: The electrical system in an automobile is said to be a 12 volt system, but this is slightly misleading. The charging system in most cars will generally produce a voltage between 13.5 and 14.4 volts while the engine is running. It has to generate more voltage than the battery's rated voltage to overcome the internal resistance of the battery. This may seem strange, but the current needed to recharge the battery would not flow at all if the charging system's output voltage was the same as the battery voltage. A greater difference of potential (voltage) between the battery's voltage and the alternator's output volt…

Hey guys, I have narrowed it down to two choices. I was originally going to just buy any random HU until next spring when I start my serious build. But with news of x3 for holiday pay which is the entire last week of December working 12 hour shifts, that build may begin sooner. So this HU will be the HU in my vehicle for the next 5 years or so, I'm planning long term here. So the two choices are: A) Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD B) Pioneer deh p960mp I have been looking in this segment for quite some time, not too too in depth, but just looking around. I can get the DEH for 200, or I can get the AVH for about 320. Here are some key features that both offer that is really attracti…

so damping factor as i understand it is the ability to control the sub once it starts playing something, to keep its movement in check. i see numbers all over the board between amp manufactures so I'm lead to believe its kinda like contrast ratios on TV's where there isn't an industry standard to measure by, is that correct? at my work training i have been told that you want at least 500 damping factory to be effective an controlling any speaker over 10" in size but this dosent make sense to me and given its coming from a rep of a company that lists all their amps around 500 damping... well... can anyone lay this out a bit simpler or provide some "trusted" literatur…

  15. The amp has 5x30amp fuses, so what type of cables and fuse should i use....I'm thinking 2 gauge cable from batt to distribution block and 4 gauge from block to amp what fuses should i use?....the dude at the local stereo shop said the amp will not actually pull 150amps and said i would only need a 120amp block and i think it had 2 60amp fuses in parallel or something like that IDK and what should i use near the batt, the same?

My Memphis 1500 crapped out on me so i'm in need of a new amp. I was looking at either a Clarion DPX11551 or a Hifonics BXi 2610D. Both are going to be run at 2ohms. Any pros or cons on these amps?

  19. the 2500 has two ground and two power inputs that both need to be filled.. how do i do this? getting a second ground is obviously easy, but how can i run a second power wire? do i just get a distrib block? i have a grand cherokee with a stock 160 amp alt. im gonna run 0 ga instead of the 4 i have now.. how do you think i will do as far as power is concerned? electrical risk? i was thinking about just getting a new battery, is it possible to just hook it up as my start up battery or am i better off to run it to the back.. im trying to save money so i would rather not run it back.
