I built this amp from scratch about 5 years ago. I also designed everything but the output stage... I weighs almost 100 lbs. It is a pretty sweet amp, it still runs like a champ day in and day out.... Class AB, 100wpc into 8 ohms, 200wpc into 4 ohms and 400wpc into 2 ohms..... So, I went ahead and cleaned up some of the crap I did about about a year ago converting my amp for 230V and adding grounding options... I added a 5 position barrier strip with selectable jumpers on the input side for setting up the primaries of the power transformers for either 115V or 230V.... I also extended the primary wires about 10" to reach the barrier strip. Next I added small toggles to…

First off let me start by saying i have no idea about anything when it comes to home audio.. i do know a lot about car audio though.. i don't know it that matters. The room is 10ft 1in x 10ft 6in x 10ft (ceiling) - its a entertainment room. My goal is to have something that sounds good when i Call Of Duty, watch Transformers and listen to Gucci Man. My budget is around 500 dollars. What i have in my head is some speakers in the corners of the ceiling, a sub woofer and speakers to put on stands and shit. - i dont know if thats an over-kill for what im trying to do or not.. the room is pretty small so i dont think it would take much.. Thanks for your time and if you need mo…

I plan on going 5.1 with my PS3 and a Martantz 7001. For speakers I wanted to go with a couple SDX7s and a pair of FR125S for my first 4 speakers and maybe use a peerless HDS for the Center speaker. For the sub portion I think I am going to go with a tempest-X and a 500 watt Bash amp. Do you guys think it is a good idea to use a full range to pick up at 800 hz and up since I hear that is there the SDX sweet zone is in the 50hz-800hz region. I'm not to sure how I should go about blending the SDX7 into my setup. Opionions? Ideas?

what is everyone using? i would like to find something that is cheap but still could handle more than just a big screen. my entertainment area includes my 42" TV, yamaha rx-v630 receiver, a little phillips dvd player (nothing special) and a karaoke dvd player (also nothing special, imported from Vietnam), behringer ep1500 pro amp, and cable box. i looked at the Belkin PureAV Home Theater Battery Backup with AVR Technology but to a lot of people using about the same set-up, it would overload easy. the price is good but i was thinking of going with a bunch of smaller pc surge+battery UPS battery backup units. i have a belkin 550 VA UPS and an APC ES 350 VA UPS for my compu…

Hey all, I have plenty of experience in the auto world but when it comes to home audio I am a newb. We have two existing Memphis 15's and are currently running them off of one channel of our sub amp. We use to have a servo driven unit on the other channel but it repetedly fails so I have been tasked to add another set up. We are grabbing 2 18" SSD's and I am making two seperate new enclosures, one for the 15's and one for the 18's. My question comes in how many cubes should I be looking at? It seems everyone goes really large but I dont wanna burn up the sub by not having enough resistance on the movement of the cone, so I was thinking 8 net for the 15's and around 12 net…

I am looking for a pair of speaker stands for my KEF bookshelf's. I've looked at Parts Express and some mainstream places like Best Buy and I don't like the looks of any stands that I have seen. Preferences: Height - 24"-30". Black. Metal. Anyone have any place to direct me?

Im building a set of speaker towers that will be used for strictly music. They will each have a subwoofer, which is my question. Im going to put in a 15'' subwoofer in each one and they will either be FI Q's or Bl's. I would like to know which ones will sound better with quality and bass and overall sounding. Power is not a problem Thanks

My father has one of these and recently got the XM antenna for it. I am wondering if anyone else has a setup like this cause I cannot get his remote to work for the XM portion. I can change the channels by standing at the receiver, but the darn remote wont change the channel. I have googled and searched everything I know of to find an answer, but here I am. I cannot find any information about this issue. The remote is the Pioneer axd7431. If anyone has had an issue like this, please let me know.

Okay, as the topic says, I'm tired of my RCA HTIB. I'm done for the most part with my car, and would really like to build a nice 2.1 setup. I don't have the money for a 5.1, and rather than getting a mediocre 5.1 I'd rather have a nice 2.1. First off, I need a receiver. I'd like to keep the receiver around $500. Only needs to be a 5.1 with some preamp outputs. Right now, I'm leaning towards and Onkyo. Any other companies you guys suggest? Second: I want to build my speakers. Bookshelves are not out of the question, but I think I might like to try a 3way floor standing speaker. I'll admit, I am new to the HT building so if any of you have a better suggestion let m…

Got all of the pics up from HES this past weekend. Some absolutely insane setups there. The biggest surprise of the show in my eyes were the Silverline Minuets that cost $600 per pair. If I didn't have my Maggies at home I would have bought a pair on the spot. I'm usually not a big fan of bookshelf speakers, but the Minuets were just stunning in every way. Tons of over the top and uber expensive eye candy as well. Finally got to hear the Cabasse La Sphere's in person as well. Nothing like dropping $150,000 on speakers... Oh and Jim, more tube amps than I have ever seen in my life. The Wilson room was pitch black except for the tubes glowing, it was absolutely beautiful…

hey I've got a question! i've been looking for a solution for my mp3s for a long time now. but i'm not sure what to buy. i don't want to burn them all to cd so i thought about buying a multimedia-hard disk to connect to my stereo. but it's hard to find any, and even harder to find some opinions and reviews about them... I've found these ones: http://www.storex.eu/storex/pages/produits...her=description and http://memup.co.uk/MEDIADISK-MX-SERIES-Ste...98da87f4a90c90f has anyone of you any experience with these, or another solution. i've also looked at sonos and logitech systems, they're cool but they are also whole another dimension when it comes to paying.. (my student b…

I am looking to build a box for 2 EHQS 12's to put in my room. The measurements of the box are 48" h x 20" w x 16" d, they are not for sure if you have any suggestions let me know I just want a tower design to go in the corner. And I was planning on using dual flared aeroports either 2 4" or 2 6". My question is how is my design will they sound good for HT use, if not please help me with my design to where they will perform the best and get the loudest. And what size ports should I use the 4" or the 6" ports, what tuning am I looking for with HT. I know alot about car audio and can build one hell of a box for a car setup but I am not too familiar with HT setups and what i…

I am going to put this here since it somewhat relates. What is everyone using? I will be purchasing one soon ... missing some TV shows/sports games on nights that I stay at work late is not going to cut it anymore, and I do not want a VCR. I have not read into them much. I just want something fairly basic with a small-medium sized HD that is capable of 10+ hours at the very minimum.

i have this 5.1 system. i got it for cheap, and they included a 5 yr warranty at no cost. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DAVHDX589W the bass from the stock sub/box is pretty decent, according to specs its a 6 3/4 (i think it was 3/4") sub, 1.5 ohm and the amp feeds 280w rms to it. id like to build a new box for either this sub, or get 1-2 new subs (6.5s or 8s) that i can wire to ~1.5, rather not go any lower becuase thats what the stock sub is at now. if i do 2 subs thats 140w rms each. ideas? maybe a t-line? idk anything about HT, but i want something that gets alot louder with the power im working with, and something that gets pretty low too. bu…

Im in need of a new home theater reciever for my room. My older sony reciever finally gave out the other day, and i cant stand listening to my games and movies through my tv speakers! I dont have too much money to spend on one(roughly $200). I found a couple Harman Kardon HK AVR 247's on ebay that were going for a good price, and i was wondering if that reciever will suit my setup. If not, could someone point me in the right direction? I have Polk monitor 50 floorstanders, polk r15 rears, and a Polk CS1 center. Its manly 50% games, 25% music, and 25% movies. thanks

I got a set of JBL Stage floorstanding speakers for $160 from Best Buy on clearance, normal price was $400 for the pair. They sound pretty good, especially for the price, definitely not as good as my B&Ws, but good none the less. They are going in our basement for now and may be bought off of me by my brother once he starts working for the basis of a decent, cheap stereo.

To me, it appears as if the woofers are on a separate circuit than the tweeters. I know they're connected somehow and I've studied the build log pictures of the crossovers, but I dont understand this calsod crossover design. If anybody could help that would be great thanks.

So i have the Tss-450 home theater set up and the subwoofer has lost its performance. I'm thinking about switching a new sub into it. I've always been into car audio so i've done plenty of custom set ups there. Would it sound very good if i put another sub in its place in the box?

I currently have a SONY STR-DG820 A/V receiver (got it for free) and the subwoofer output is a single RCA. Is it not possible to use a Crown XTi 1000? (I have never seen connectors like the back of the Crown before) I originally was going to power a Fi Q18 with a Dayton HPSA1000-R 1000W Rackmount Subwoofer Amplifier. But then as far as the reviews go that amp is highly overrated. I don't have a serious problem with that but I would like to get a quality subwoofer amplifier because I don't plan on having the SONY receiver forever. Thanks.
