OKay, I want to corner load my IXL18 in the basement; vent and driver on the same plane firing into the corner. Is there a way to measure the optimum corner to load in? I'm worried about reflections and cancellation.

Hi everyone, It's been a while since I posted on here and I'm sure I've asked this question before in some incarnation of the site. But I'm looking for recommendations on a box(ported, sealed?) for an old Brahma Mk.1 I've got sitting around. THe smaller the better, as the spacee is a bit limited at my place. I would have loved to do a PR one but no budget to buy PRs. I've played with WinISD a bit and was looking at a 8 cube box tuned to 20hz but not sure if I want a box that big. I have a PE 500 watt plate amp coming in and am going to use it for half HT, half audio Thanks for you help in advance.

As some may know i'm using a Seas CA18rnx and a cheapo tweeter as the mains. I've bought a pair of Peerles HDS tweeters and now it's time to design something better that what i have now. 1st problem are the enclosures. The sealed ones are lacking a bit of mid-bass and by the looks of Zaph's waveguide TMM graphs ported seems to open up the low-end. side view : http://www.zaphaudio.com/WaveguideTMM-2-3.pdf I thought about using the top part of the enclosure in the plans since i only have a pair of mids. Anything wrong with that ? 2nd problem : the crossover part. Should i start with first order slopes and try out some diffrent inductor and capacitor values (ie for 2khz, 2…

ok, so i am confused as to whether or not i need a new receiver to utilize the lossless audio formats available on blu ray discs. i am currently sourcing all my audio bitstream over s/pdif (optical). my receiver has 192 kHz/24-Bit DAC for All Channels as well as 8 ch discrete analog inputs and a pure direct setting. after watching Dark Knight on blu-ray last night i felt as though the surround in the film was a little mushy and my receiver reads out "dolby digital" while it is processing. I'm pretty sure standard dolby digital does not utilize discrete surround and rear channels. this is what i found about dolby true hd from their website regarding s/pdif connections (i …

  9. My father is looking for a very good receiver for his home theater. He wants something that can use an ipod docking station He has an Onkyo TX-SR603 right now but it took a crap on him and blew out all the tweets so he just wants to get another amp instead of having it fixed. I know nothing about HT so I really need your help. This is what he wants: 1. of course a 5.1 or 7.1 it doesn't have to be THX certified. 2. He wants to be able to put an ipod to it (via docking station) 3. 80-100 watts per channel 4. he also has an amp so he wants to be able to connect that amp to the receiver. 5. budget around $350-$600 As far as I know he's just using regular speaker connections (…

I've got two eD EQHS 8" subs I'm going to build a box for, power will come from a 250w eD plate amp. I'll be building a ported box, this will mostly be used for video games and such, so anybody want to come up with a design? Or even give me some good airspace and port tuning recommendations?

  11. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Yqrw4yBuiBZ/c...mp;I=580HTS700B I'm pretty new to the HT scene and I was wondering how do u guys think that setup would do me to start off? I was looking for something nice to go with my Samsung 32" HDTV and PS3 to play my blu-ray movies on and video games. P.S. i'm looking for a good 5.1 setup. with a good reciever, 80 watts to the 5 speakers and like 1 sub that can handle 200 watts and sounds clear and deep. i'm up for getting one of those powered subwoofers if i find a good option that doesn't have all the speakers and reciver bundled. I've got around a $600 budget.

Something happened when I tried to start the thread, whoops. Anyway, I recently got a elemental designs 11Kv.2 (10" sub) for my dorm stereo, and the sealed box really isn't working very well without cabin gain. First time designing a box, but I came up with a design using WinISD. It would be a 2.1 cu ft box tuned to about 28Hz with 27 sq in of port area (slot). the sub will be powered by a 325 watt BASH plate amp, in case that makes much of a difference. Does this sound right? any help would be great. T/S specs from eD are: Qts: .28 Qes: .31 Qms: 2.7 Fs: 24.80Hz Re: 7.0 Vas: 66L Mms: 116.0g Bl: 19.00T*m SPL: 87.1dB Sd: 350cm

  13. I bought this speaker and put it in a prefab box. it does good but i think it could do better if it was in a better built box.( moves allot of air) it is in my room something the size of a dorm room. I use it mostly for music, I'm thinking maybe tuning it to 35-40 Hz. I would like to put it in a t line, but my box desinging skills are not up to par. Could some one help me out with some dimensions??? I'm not looking for sq. I know its a small speaker, but I'm in Iraq right now so I wanted something that Can pack up easily. and not take up to much space. Below is the speaker and the amp i have. Thanks for any help u can give me. The amp i am using The speaker

Finally getting around to designing a H/T for our new house. Substage will be a McCauley 6174 in a 12ft3 4th order vented at around 18Hz powered by an Adcom GFA 555. I picked a clean Sony ES on Facebook Marketplace for almost nothing. Front L/R and rears are Paradigm in walls, their reference series, should be pretty good. For the center channel I designed a large line array with 2 sets of 5 drivers in Bessel arrangements flaking a Peerless 1 1/8” dome. Hopefully I’ll have some build pics in the next few weeks. I am really looking forward to the sub stage. I have used the 6174 in many pro audio builds before, but not in a small H/T.
