I'm not real familiar with enclosures and things of that sort. I can wire them up and all that happy stuff. But I have a 2004 GMC Sierra extended cab and I was talking with a guy at a local audio shop about a box to go under my back seat. He mentioned something about .95cu.ft. for a sealed dual 10" truck box. I showed him the specs on the GCON subs and he told me they should fit no problem in that box. Then I got to looking and based on those specs it said the ICON and even XCON subs would fit as well. Since you all know more than I do about enclosures and sub depth, would the GCON subs fit in that box for my truck? It is a downfire box as well. If you need dimensions of …

Vehicle is a 2004 lincoln aviator. I want components that will fit in stock locations for all four doors. The setup is a pioneer 3800 head unit, fi bl 15 in 4 cubes ported at 32, T1000-1bdcp. I need components that will fit the doors (tweeters I can mount anywhere) that will give me decent coverage. I'd prefer to not drop a ton on the speakers overall, maybe $400 total. I'm going with either a punch or power 4 channel for the mid amp.

I know I am asking a lot of questions, but if I can get answers then I will buy one of your GCON 15s. Need all answers please, from 1 person or multiple. Can just say 1) yes 2) no... etc. I have read (on these forums and others) that the enclosure is EVERYTHING, so that is the majority of the questions. 1) I am looking to buy a good SQ 15" sub at a decent price. Heard about the GCON 15". Am I correct, that this is a good SQ sub? 2) I want a sealed enclosure for better SQ and space saving. Does the GCON 15" sound good in a sealed enclosure? 3) Enclosure size. What is the optimal ft^3 size for this sub in a sealed enclosure? (internal volume- I will add …

So, it just dawned on me that I was mucking up my build log just talking about tweeters and thought I'd make a dedicated thread. I have been doing quite a bit of searching and I'm at the point that everything is just kinda starting to blur together. I tend to over think things and it is getting the best of me right now. I am looking for something to mate with my Seas CA18RNX. I liked the ID xs28s I had, though I don't have a lot to go off of either. I didn't have much to complain about them, but when I switched the ID mids for the Seas mids I was surprised by the improvement. If I can get that kind if improvement in the tweeters as well, I'd be a happy camper. I am fairly…

Where do i even start, when considering a subwoofer? i dont want very loud booming base. just enough to round out the sound. to produce lower frequencies and make it sound better. I have the ability to bridge 2 channels on my amp (Pioneer GM-D8604) for 300 RMS at 4 ohms or 250 RMS at 2 ohms. also, isnt this weird? i thought at a lower ohm, it would be able to produce more power? i guess you use whatever ohm the subwoofer is rated at? any difference between subwoofers rated at 2 ohm vs 4 ohm? What about size of woofer? 8 inch, 10, or 12, etc? i believe larger woofer produces more bass, can be louder. but also requires more RMS to power larger woofers. W…

Do birch wood speaker spacers need to be waterproofed? i went to local installer and they said they would use MDF and not waterproof them, just paint them with regular paint. but i said i would need them waterproofed so they dont soak up water so they went ahead and used birch wood speaker spacer instead. these fine, if not waterproofed or treated? and i heard these woods have harmful chemicals in them? or is that only when cutting them? and should be fine if installed in car, but not being cut?

what could have gone wrong? i dont have a subwoofer yet. i made a thread about that. and will be getting a subwoofer later but for now i just got the SPR 60C, alpine type R components the midbass is like gone. my cheapo stock speakers had slightly more midbass than these... they are powered by a pioneer amp, GM-D8604 what could be wrong? or are components supposed to have barely any bass whatsoever.... its pretty bad. the highs are very clear. a bit too harsh highs but when i set the headunit to EQ the bass up, the bass sounds bad, slight increase in bass, but pretty bad quality bass? The gain on the…

So I haven't had a sub in almost 4 years, I've been running a factory stereo in my expedition (mach) for over a year and the factory 8 finally gave out. So now it's time to put a little something together. I have the expedition with 3rd row seating removed, so I have space for whatever I decide to do. I've been going back and forth between a sundown e12 for $80 or a SQ HDS200 15 for what SSA sells them, $115. I don't plan to compete, just get a little bass again. It won't be played a whole lot as I have a 1 year old who rides in my truck. That being said, when I am alone it will be played rather hard. I'm afraid the 12 won't be enough for a large SUV since I was use to an…

Hey all, I am workon an a build right now, and I am unsure what I should look into for 6.5's and tweets. I am currently running Nendo Pwx's , but they simply do not put out the sound that I am looking for. I am not looking for anything expensive, and I am on a pretty tight budget right now. I will be mounting 2 6.5's in the front doors, and I will be mounting 2 to my wall once it's built. I have a nendo 800.4 for power Thanks in advance ~

Greetings, So surprised my username still works. Through college and the years following I stepped away from the audio realm. I am way out of the loop for the latest and greatest but frankly I no longer care about the audio industry though I still enjoy good music. I recently inherited this truck and out of memory of my grandfather and general practicality I am not going to modify it heavily. It has the Bose system and its fine for now. If I ever upgrade the headunit it will be to add navigation and music library. The only thing it is missing is bottom end, mostly because I deafened myself to low frequency in my highschool days. So I am…

Hey all, My FI SSD 15 finally bit the dust with a fried voice coil. I tried to contact FI about possible warranty, but had no luck So here I am trying to decide on a new sub. My current amp is a Sundown SAE-1200d. I have heard that they are actually under rated, and push more like 1300-1500. With that being said, what are some recommendations you all would have subwoofer wise? I am looking for a 15'' btw I was thinking about a DC Audio level 3, but it seems like they only come in dual 4 ohm. Any help with this, is greatly appreciated ~Tyler

I am currently running 2 of the Soundqubed HDS 215's in the backseat of my mustang convertible. Do I like them? Yeah, but the problem is the box takes up my entire back seat and is way to small for those subs and tuned too high. I am missing a lot of low notes and I believe lots of output. I want to sell them and get a new box for a single 15. I am keeping the Hifonics 1700.1 but I need a sub to go in the box. I am looking at this box (http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/321813323806?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82) at 3.5 cubes total tuned at 32hz. (I can also reverse mount the sub for extra airspace) But I need a good sub to go in it, but I don't want to spend more tha…

Last year I purchased a set of Image Dynamics CTX-65CS for my front stage. I was running them on an AQ200.2 amp. The right side tweeter kept blowing so ID upgraded me to the XS-28 tweets and the matching crossovers from the CSX set. Well, after 3 more attempts the tweets kept blowing. They said it must be something wrong with my amp, so I swapped the amp for my Kenwood KAC-7005PS. I bridged the channels to get 100 watts per side so that overpowering should not be an issue. Well, after the warranty ran out my last replacement came in. It lasted a week. I don't know what the problem could be unless the driver on that side was bad, sending the incorrect ohms to the tweets. T…

Hey guys. Just trying to get some quick help. I have Eminence Alpha 6 4ohm drivers in my front doors. One is buzzy, and I want to replace the pair. I am torn between the Cresendo PDX-6 , or the Incriminator dpx-6. They are running on an Alpine PDX 150/ch. Is there another option I should be looking at? Or are those two options good? Is one preferred over the other? Thanks!

I've narrowed my choices down to a few options and since this is a slow process I've had the luxury of changing my mind a dozen times. In the back of my Focus hatcback I'm planning a single 15 on what will most likely be a 3500-4000 watt Crescendo, Autotek (old school), Ampere, etc and it'll be in what is most likely a 3.7ish net tuned to mid/high 30s. Mostly rock and some rap for daily listening and decaf for demo. So there are a few subs that seem to fit my application but it's a tough call. Maybe all would be great but who knows. I know the SSA Evil will come highly recommended but the DC Lvl5 and AA Team are right there in terms of capability. Is the SSA being bu…

Redoing port soon and need advice. Sub is a Fi Q18, 6 spoke basket, SPL audio recone, on under 1k. Port is 12" plastic pipe. I want it tuned at 29 and I can get there 2 ways. 1. 34" of pipe internal and 2" external giving me 8.08 cubes. And 2. 28" internal and 6" ext. giving me 8.48. How much would the extra .5 cube affect the sub. (Fi recommends up to 10 cubes for 1 Q18)
