Subwoofers / Speakers

Well, since the mags went on backorder i went to a shop owned by my cousin, and he hooked me up w/ an L7 12", on a price i couldn't really resist. sooo, after 2 days of hell making my box, i finally put it in the Jeep about an hour ago, and have been able to get an idea of what it can do (turned the amp's gain up to 4v for about 1 min.. JBL 1200.1). I'm using my friends 1200.1, and i'm very suprised at what this sub did for not being broken in, and being in a 2.2 cube box tuned to 43 hz. the box is as close to kicker "street bass" as i can get. :boink: :boink: but wow, this L7 blows the doors off the HC i had in there in terms of output hands down. They were bot…

So what I'm looking for is some clean, tight, bass to add to my current setup. Loudness is not really what I'm going for, I don't want the sub to overpower the rest of my system. I currently have a 4CH JL amp feeding 60W (i think) to some 6.5 mb quarts. Now I'd like fill out the bottom end. When I put in a sub I'd like to run a hpf on my components so that they don't have to play the lower freqs (is this right?). Also, space is a concern. So from what I've read on this forum, I'm thinking of going with a SA-12 in Dual 4 coils and the most powerful amp @ 2ohms that I can afford. Was looking at the Alpine MRPM500 or MRXM50. I'd like to go with a sealed enclosure, but…

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14757 The girl blew her HWS 6.5's so im looking at new 6.5's. Must be bale to handle ~50wRMS minimum and be fairly efficent and sound good. Loud would be good to because while im swapping them out ill be putting in a 50wx4 amp i had lying around bridged to 100wx2 (turned down for the mids/highs) and the NX4400 is going independant for th assasin's which means 220w each. trunk dances with 55w each, i should gain ~6dB i love that smiley

Currently have a 12" ICON but when getting ready to build a ported enclosure for it, the sub suffered its fate. So Im looking for a new sub to replace it. I had a custom box designed for it with 1.75cuft at 32hz. If I can still use that it would be great. Looking to power the next sub with either an Audioque 1200d or Crescendo 1500. The DSS Ethos lools great but it seems like the amps above would under power them. I loved my ICON but not sure I want to wait 1.5 months again. Suggestions would be great. Thanks!

  5. I just sent payment for a used xcon and I'm wondering if someone could help me out. By the pics, is this a current model and if i were to order another 12" new from ssa would it be a matching sub? Just that pics of others seem to have a black spider on them. http://i146.photobuc...9-38-01_429.jpg http://i146.photobuc...19-36-51_73.jpg http://i146.photobuc...9-36-22_312.jpg Thanks!

So I currently have Kicker CVXs upgraded from some MTX Subwoofers that used to have 400RMS. None the less I feel like I don't have the 1000 watts that I should and most people are telling me it's my box. My box is 1.8 cubes and that's for both subwoofers. Kicker barely fits and I was looking as the SA-10 requires .5, so surely giving it .9 each would make it sound REALLY good? It's a sealed box and I'm just trying to destroy my truck essentially. I've got the BRZ1200.1 amp and I hope that these subwoofers will do well in my single cab. I couldn't find the frequency response on these though....if anyone knows can they share it with me? EDIT: Posted on the wrong forums but …

I'm sure all of us has heard the emphasized S sound. The high-hat that makes you blink every time you hear it. I have always heard that tweeters tend to be personal taste and vary person to person but man is it hard for me to listen to a blaring titanium or aluminum dome tweeter for a extended period of time. I'm looking for some supplementary highs that are "smooth" so to speak. I have been very impressed with silk dome tweeters but i'm looking for other suggestions. They can't be like 25 watts rms too. I need a reasonable power handling Anyone care to share what they have in there ride? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_46848_Alpine-SPR-10TW.html ^^ What im l…

I am trying reach the highest decibels I can with what I have, a 2006 V8 Lincoln LS. I have done the big3 and am ordering an extra battery with isolator to replace my 2fd cap. I have 1-15" ssa icon D2 in 4^ft @32hz sub firing up and port into cabin, Hifonics gladiator 1000.1 @ 1ohm, hifonics zues 80.4, Sony GDX-GT660UP headunit. two pairs of cadence cw6kits comp in the rear, one pair of American bass 6.5 mids and a pair of silk tweeters in the front and on front sails. The only issue i'm struggling with is the bass. I know I can get more out of the sub but cant figure it out. I want to rebuild the trunk and new enclosure but trying to determine best way to do that. a…

amp for my 2 SI 12s. I need help finding a good amp for about $400 shipped. I bought 2 12s thinking my 1200 could run both. Later found out its only good for 1. I don't have room for another 1200w amp. So I need to step up to something that can handle 2. Any suggestions or help? TIA -Nick

Is this a good box layout? Also it will be run off of 2 crescendo bc2000d's at 2 ohms then for shows .5 a piece strapped! Don't worry the electrical will be present when I throw them in.

I have a 2003 dodge ram im looking to put a setup in under the back seat. I will be building a fiberglass sealed box conformed to the underseat area shape. It will net me a minimum of 1.75ft3. Im just looking for hard hitting bass, no top of the line setup. Budget for the subs is around $300+-, i would imagine 2 10's would probably be my best route? I just went around to all the shops here in town for different opinions. I know Kicker is normally frowned upon, but a few places suggested the new Comp R 10's and a cx1200.1. I cant seem to find much info on the new subs, i was told these new subs are from a better sound engineer kicker hired recently but it could be BS for a…

hey guys, the 15" mag will be coming before i know it and i haven't got anything to power it with. i dont mind running it at 1 or 4 ohm, i'm just looking for the best means of driving it for STRICTLY daily driving. money IS a concern but doesn't have to be a very big issue. i was originally looking at either the hifonics BX1500d or BX1000d, but have now realized that for a hundred bucks more, there is better. also, The JBL 1200.1 crossed my mind but was ruled out. I am running the stock alt and am going to do the BIG 3 fairly soon. now im looking into Phoenix Gold. The tantrum T1200.1 looks nice... but its so hard to decide. i want to get a 2 channel amp for my component…

im thinking about buying four kicker l5 15 inch subwoofers. i sent kicker a e mail what size box i was wanting to put them in 16.04 cf inside. that would bring it to around 4.01 each subwoofer. i told them i wanted to port the box and they sent a e mail back this is what it said.shrink it down to 14 cf internal . this will have port and woofer displacement already caculated into it. give the box 160 square inch port opening and make the port 19.5 long into enclosure. seems to be to small for them what are you all thinking on this? what would that give the subwoofers after woofer displacement and the port they gave seems to small they also said it would tune it to 35hz

I have the 8 speaker Boston Audio "premium" system in my 300C and have recently upgraded the (3) 3.5" speakers in the dash to Infinity Kappas. A very bright sounding speaker. I am looking to replace the 6X9's in the rear deck and front doors, but in order to get the most out of the factory Boston amp, I would like to find 2-ohm speakers similar to the infinity dash speakers that I have already replaced. However the Inifinity 6X9's take quite a bit of power (and will not be adding another amp), are there other brands that make 2-ohm coaxials??
