Hi everyone I have a couple of questions regarding a build that I will be helping a friend with. He has a 96 ford f150 ext cab and wants sub(s) underneath the back seats, front firing. We're thinking something along the lines of a 8" woofer or woofers. we've measured the area and there's enough height for a 8" sub (there's about 12in of space) and depth there's about 16-18in of space. And width there's about 30in of space. He doesn't want the sub to stick out he wants it either flush with the seat or a little bit less. He wants to buy a sundown 100.2 which is most likely going to happen. (thanks ohjay) and run it bridged 4 ohms @ 400watts. Now, what sub(s) should we…

Hello all. Looking for input and opinions on which subwoofer would be the better choice, (ICON or DC LVL 3) for my scenario and for longevity. I have managed to destroy 2 Fosgate T1 15D2's in less then 2 years. Think it is time to find something of better quality or can handle my music/listening style better. Which consists of everything under the sun and usually very loud! So I need something that can handle whatever I throw at it. I don't compete and don't plan on it. Just enjoy my music... Currently have a 12" ICON but when getting ready to build a ported enclosure for it, the sub suffered its fate. So Im looking for a new sub to replace it. I had a custom box designed for it with 1.75cuft at 32hz. If I can still use that it would be great. Looking to power the next sub with either an Audioque 1200d or Crescendo 1500. The DSS Ethos lools great but it seems like the amps above would under power them. I loved my ICON but not sure I want to wait 1.5 months again. Suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I've narrowed it down to this set, image dynamics 6.5 component. CTX65CS. Is this the best I can get for my money($160)? Im looking for some feedback on these. And I also need an amp to power one set of these and a set of 6x9s.

So i just got my new infinity kappa speakers a few days ago. While i was installing them, i noticed they were crackling alot while i was screwing them to the door. After a good amount of investigation, i came to realize that the frame of the speaker (or any metal on it) was creating a short on the door of the car itself. I could take my knife and touch the speaker frame and then touch the door, and it would short with sparks arching at the other end. The stock speakers were coated in plastic around that area so that the screw was isolated from the speaker and wouldnt short. Does any one know why this is happening? any ideas on how to keep it from happening on my new spea…

Recently purchased a Avionixx AXT-1200.2 for a great price off ebay. Now I have matching amps . Well within minutes of receiving the package, I install the amp which takes 15 minutes tops... Fire it up, have some trouble find I had set it on High pass instead of Low pass :thud: .. But get everything straightened out and let her rip. best way to describe what happened next : WOW.... I really wasn't expecting a HUGE gain from 400 to 1200 watts, but boy, this thing just drops LOW in the ported box... so i have 2 15" mags powered by my Incriminator 20.1 @ 0.5 ohms. And it gets loud and sounds great but i would love to go ported but just can't fit a 7^3@30 htz box in my trunk. So what would be the smallest ported enclosure you would use for 2 15"s? i can fit 5 cf@30 no problem but much more than that and i'm hurtin'

Have factory 6x9 in the rear of my 200 LeSabre. The thing is that I going to put a full Treo system and they dont make a 6x9; so go with the TS 6.5 like the door or add a TSI 8 sub?

I want to build a 2way setup from Parts Express. I was thinking part # 290-307 Goldwood 6.5" and # 264-1006 Vifa 3/4" I was going to use one of their Dayton pre assembled x-overs at 2k Hz. It has poly caps and such, good choice? Its easy for sure. I wanted to build a IB stand for in home listening and then if they sound good put them in my car. I also need to find an amp for in home 4 ohm use, unless I'm not thinking of another way of powering them? Series, add something to the x-over, etc.. Thanks for all input. Greatly appreciated.! Ben

I have been looking on woofersetc for a couple of days now and just can't make up my mind on this. What I am planning on doing is putting some tweeters / midbrange speakers in the back of my suv. I want it to keep up with my BTL 18 when I have the back hatch open. Overall I want to spend around a thousand on everything. Everything that's needed is back there as far as power and space. I was really liking the image dynamic horns, but can't find a lot of technical info about them. I am thinking 4 - 6 midbass drivers and 4 tweeters. Small enclosures and small cabin area. I'm thinking about buying a truck like a ford ranger extended cab or a chevy colorado extended cab and I want to know what sub works best in conditions like small area I don't want to wall out my backseats but I'm willing to take them out to get best effiwncy out of my sub I know the nightshade works good in small enclosures but what else does? A dual 10" SI BM set up in a sealed box would be easily comparable if not better in SQ than two w6's, correct? I'm considering my next setup, even though i just got my SSD's in. haah never happy, althought currently, im extremely happy with the Fi's but ya gotta switch things up.

I'm sure all of us has heard the emphasized S sound. The high-hat that makes you blink every time you hear it. I have always heard that tweeters tend to be personal taste and vary person to person but man is it hard for me to listen to a blaring titanium or aluminum dome tweeter for a extended period of time. I'm looking for some supplementary highs that are "smooth" so to speak. I have been very impressed with silk dome tweeters but i'm looking for other suggestions. They can't be like 25 watts rms too.
