My JL XR tweeters finally gave out on me after 5 years of service and I am looking at upgrading to a 6.5" set of components from my current 5.25s. I am looking at the Bravox CS60K's on the group buy due to the phenomenal price and what appears to be some serious quality speakers. Does anyone know what the mounting depth is on the 6.5 mid? Also, does anyone have any feedback on this component set? Good punchy midbass, crisp clean highs? I have a good deal of power to send to them (MTX 4160, I know REAL old school) and an AudioControl EQS to clean up the sound.

I have four 12s (infinity dvc) IB into my seat, they work great and have enough output for me but weigh a ton. So I'm thinking of lighter subs that are more efficient as well. So I'm reading up on it and that kind of sub tends to make less sub bass but more mid bass....a 12 might split at 40Hz where the common HD sub makes more under that and efficient sub more over that (more db); so they have more rolloff at lowest frequency. I like 30Hz, not sure if I would lose much since the difference is not very great. But now I am thinking maybe two efficient 15s would work better; with a lower Fs they should get deeper than efficient 12s right? Maybe as deep as the 12 infinitys? …

well i had the day off of work and class today and was boared as hell. so i decided to make a new face for the front of the box the IA was in which is around 3.5CF with a big ass 4" slot port.i also installed a little oldschool kicker zr240 amp (clamped 475watts) and ran it with a 2 ohm load. im VERY surprised. the sub itself doesnt really move all that much and it gets lowwwwwwww. the range of hz it was low and powerful id say was between 20 and 38hz. everything else was ok. anyways i thought id fill you guys in on whats been going on with the danger ranger. i didnt get the mustang back today either b/c i had to buy a new starter and the mechanic cant install it till tom…

Well my friend was cleaning out his garage and was throwing a bunch of stuff out. He had this Eclipse sub in some hideous box and didn't want it anymore. So I just took the sub and left the box there. He had it connected in his car for about a week and it worked, but it had a tear in the rubber surround. I think while taking it out of the box I also broke one of the terminals. Is there anything I can do to save the sub? Will I have to get a recone? I'm not exactly sure when you need to recone a sub, I searched and found a ton of threads with people needing subs reconed but I don't when it's really needed. Here are some pics I snapped of the sub.

what are some good ground pounder subs? i have no plans in competing i just want something that have deep bass that can go low and sound good in the process... i have 8.3 cubes where the rear seats would be in my truck. i dont want to run no more than 5500 watts. Something that love low tuning would be great and my budget is $1200 max for just subs. the size of the subs really dont matter all that much. Im just trying to get different ideas on whats out there..I will be getting a box design from ram designs as soon as i make my mind up on subs

Currently I have cheap crappy Duals from best buy and am looking to upgrade. I am looking for SPL, but SQ is very important as well since it's a daily driver. THey have to be able to take a beating and handle extreme weather as well (both cold and hot). In my search I've found a lot and would like some opinions. I've been looking at stuff like the FI BL, RE MX, and Audioque HDC3. Other people have recommended DC audio as well as T3. Basically I'm looking for a quality sub that's not too expensive, that gets VERY loud while still retaining good SQ. It seems like there is a lot of good subs out there. I admit I don't know much about the stuff either, making it more difficul…

I am currently building my first enclosure. When it comes to building the double front baffle should I do choice 1 or 2. 1. Should I glue the two pieces together. Then router my hole for my speaker. 2. Router my two holes. Then glue my boards together. Thnaks I know this is a simple just trying to make it easier on myself.

I just got a new car! 2010 Jeep Patriot. Dimensions in the back without touching the back seats are about 38wx22dx22h, in inches. I currently have a Soundstream DTR 2200.1, stock battery/alt under the hood (115 amp alt) and a second yellow top battery. I'm looking to upgrade the alternator early next year, but have to keep it stock for now. I'm looking for SPL, daily driver, so SPL on music pretty much (dubstep, some rap). Given the gear I have currently, and the dimensions in the rear, what would be an optimal setup? I'm leaning toward x2 SA-15's as 6cuft@34hz should be doable with those dimensions. Only other thing I could think of would be a single higher powered 1…

Hello, I'm in the process of redoing/upgrading my subwoofer setup, and I need some help pertaining to the amount of subs and box type. I have a Sundown SAZ-1500d amplifier, 0 gauge wiring to it, and the big 3 upgraded. I am being limited by space - I'm working with an area approximately 30" wide x 18" deep x 14.5" tall. So, the way I see it I have two options - #1 - sealed box with (2) Fi SSD 12's w/ copper coils, or #2- a ported box ~2.25 cubes, tuned at 32hz, with a Fi Q 12. If it were possible, I would build a ported box to suit the (2) Fi SSD 12's, but I just don't think I have adequate room right now. My questions are: 1.) which setup will sound better overall? 2.…

OMG!!! this thing is INSANE! i have the gains so so extremely conservative. only to aprox 30v asumeing an impeadance rise to around 3ohms im only getting 300-400w. and my roof is "only" flexing 1/4-1/2"....my dome light is "only" moving 1/16th (or so). not too many rattles but it hasnt gotten very loud yet either. the main test song has been "push that" but little john. no rock yet (im still amazed with its loudness wiht only 300-400w). it is overpowering my componets like they are nothing. speaking is impossible. and in the low lows (30Hz area, near tuning) the pressure changes are starting to take effect (as far as the funny breathing). not the loudest ive been in but d…

well, i am having trouble on deciding which maw to go with; 12 or 15. i am looking for LSQ. my setup is as follows: HU: Eclipse 5423 Comps: PG RSd65CS Amp: Kicker KX700.5 (140wx2 @ 4ohms, 400wx1 @ 2 ohms) i am working with the trunk of a mustang so space is limited. if i went with the maw 15, which i was planning on, it would have to go in a sealed enclosure with the sub facing upwards towards the rear deck (no rear fill, deadened) - which i read was not a great idea. if i went with the maw 12 i have room to go ported, but obviously loose cone area. i dont have any experience with either sub, so i figured you guys are the ones to help me out. it just seems that for nearly…

My rainbow mid was exactly 4" and it barely cleared and my AA poly mids didnt clear at all. Heard good things about them and want to give them a try.

I want to purchase a 12" sub to be powered by a Soundstream Rubicon 702. Since I have limited trunk space I would rather a sealed enclosure. I use to own a 15" Kicker Solobaric (round version from the late 90's) that was being powered by this same amp and I loved it but it took up my entire trunk. The box was huge. So big I had to aim the sub upwards since it didn't fit facing front or back. So far I've liked the reviews for the Fi Q12 but I'm still very open to suggestions. I was also looking at the kicker cvx12 since I think it would be very similar to my old 15" which I really liked the bass that it produced. I'm just worried I might be disappointed having it in …

So I havent been on in awhile due to work and my amp being muffed up(my fault I think). I will be sending my amp into Sundown this week and while I am waiting to hear back about it I wanted to look into some component sets and I have found myself asking a couple of questions. Right now I have 2 pair of coaxial speakers, both being 6.5. I want to step it up into the big boy world and get a 2 way set to try out. My questions are will I be able to power them with just the head unit or should I look into getting a 2 channel amp? My head unit is the Alpine CDA-9883. Also I didnt know if I would be even better off keeping one set of coaxial speakers and just get two 6.5 mid bas…

O.k. I got some money coming in soon. And I was wondering, Which would be better. 2 Maw-15's or something from Fi that would be better. So I was either going to get 2 Maw-15's or maybe just one Fi Q 15" or a Fi Bl 15".... Im staying under 300.00 for the sub... Well maybe a little over if I decide to incorporate some of the options with the Fi. If I get the Q or the BL which options should I get for them. Mind you this is just for Daily use. Thanks in advance. ~MadroX
