I just bought a ssa xcon 15" dual 2ohm, it will be arriving in about a week or so. So I would like to know the best setup and design for my enclosure, I have already played a lot with WinISD and I have come to the conclusion that a enclosure of 4 cubic feet tuned to 29hz would be best. But does box shape affect the sound at all? Also are slot ports the best port for good deep bass? I already know having my sub pointed to the rear has the best sound response in my station wagon, and cadillac alike. And to add I would like the height for my enclosure that is going to be pointed to the rear to be only 16" is this a good idea. any suggestions?

Just wondering if ANY Members remember these Sub's. They were manufactured by Still Water Designs back in the Early 90's. Most remember there 15" box because it had a whole row of 2 1/4" ports all way across the bottom of the box. But they also made some Bad A_S 10's that were sold in bass tubes. They were isobaricly stacked. If you didn't know what you were looking at you just thought it was a 10" sub in a tube. But if you looked close you would wonder WTF when you noticed that it's mounted in a 12" hole with what looks to be bolts going through the normal mounting holes. . . . . . . . . . . . They were Very expensive back then not to mention in efficient. $700 a tube an…

Last year I traded locally with this guy for a 12w4. The sub is in my 2006 Chevy single cab truck. Box is roughly 2 cubic feet slot ported tuned at 32hz. The sub sounds perfect for the enclosure. Very very good and accurate sound. My only problem is that it's being pushed by a RF Amp with a birth sheet of 926 rms watts. Definite overkill for the sub. So I've turned it way down. Even at that, if I crank it at the deck and certain frequencies the sub sounds like it's being crunched. So I've thought about swapping the sub for a higher wattage subs. A JL W 6 looks to be to deep for the setup. So I checked around and it appears Kicker makes the CVX with very simila…

I am interested in using two Flatlyne 15's in an IB install in my Civic sedan. Are the Flatlynes ready to be run IB or do I have to special order them to be set up for this application?

Hi from Bulgaria, everyone. At first I was going to buy one of the new Nightshades, but realized there will be some months till I get the money and I won't have any other sub to bang in my trunk. So I am looking for something cheap till I get the money for the NSv2. I am very tempted at the ongoing pre-order of Sundown Audio SA-8. I can get it here to BG for around the same price as Alpine Type-R for instance. My goal is a cheap sub that will bang loud and good for it's money. Sound Pressure ... around 35 Hz. What are your thoughts?

Im looking two get two new subs. What would be a better buy. 2 12" Alpine Type R subs (4ohm) or 2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3 subs(4ohm). They are being powered by a US Amps XT2000D amplifier and will be wired at 1ohm. In a sealed box. I am getting both at the same price but i dont know which ones would sound better. And im also looking at getting some new speakers, debating wheter to get the Alpine Type R 5x7 SPR-57C or the RE Audio RE5X7FR. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks

After slowly coming to a point in my life where I realize that dreams don't come with money to support them, I decided to stray from my initial craving for the Wardens and go for something i can afford before i'm 40. The plan consists of (2) MJ18M woofers tuned around 26 to 28 hz. The goal is Spl, but not at the expense of the low lows. I listen to alot of chopped & screwed music and like that ability to hear every note. The front stage is most likely going to be a SAX-100.4 on some Focal comps. I recently got a hookup for some decent deadener; almost free actually. i will do two runs of 0/1 for positive and the same for ground. Looking at a powermaster for up front a…

So, I recently bought a 98 ford ranger, and the space is ridiculous. Tiniest truck ever, but I love it. Right now, I'm running a old beat up 12" audiobahn, which I hate. I've been looking at subs that will fit, and the audiobahn in the box is slightly pushing it. It has a mounting depth of about 5 1/2", and I know the 187 is around that, so it seems like a good sub while saving space. Now, I can find reviews on the 12's, and 15's, but has anyone had personal experience with the 10"? It's either that, or I pick up a pair of tang band 8" subs, or maybe even one of their shallow mount 10's. I've always wanted to test out tangband and incriminator audio alike. So, my goals a…

Currently I have a 15" Fi SSD in a ported enclosure with almost 4 cu. ft. It is by far an amazing subwoofer hitting very low notes and hitting them hard. Recently however, I bought another 175 x 4 wrms amp and 6.5" component set that I am currently installing. That leaves another two channels that can be filled up with two more speakers, and I'd rather not use it on rear door speakers. My current subwoofer, does not give the desire punch that I want, and I was wondering if I should buy two woofers or mid-bass/mid-range drivers. Will these give me that punch fill that I want in my system, or should I instead go with two 8" subwoofers for punch. Another question is what cre…

As the title says, im looking to replace my 2 10s and Im having trouble finding some that work well in my enclosure. Its a sealed dual 10 enclosure with 1.1 cu ft for each sub. Everything I have looked at has an optimum sealed enclosure of .5-.8. Anyone have some suggestions for me, price range would be around 500 for the pair. Thanks

I have a Original Kove Armageddon sub woofer 1050rms 22mm xmax 89db sensitivity. I have heard a car that can hit 144db and i knew right away mine was as loud, so I know my sub is roughly 140db. I want The best SQ sub that can achieve this within the 1000-1600rms range, and I would like it to be the best SQ possible for under $400. It would be nice to have a flat response down to 30hz and I would like it to some extent be able to hit down to 18hz. My enclosure size is limited to a maximum of 4.0 cubic feet. Thanks

I need some advise for a friend, somewhat new to the car audio scene, with a decent amount of money... For about 300 bucks, he can get a kicker L7 15in sub. For the same price, he could get a Fi Q or a Fi BL (both also 15 inch subs) they will be recieving about 800-1000wrms. Any sugestions on which would be the best. He is more of a SPL guy (thats why he is leaning towards kicker) but still wants to get a somewhat decent sq from the settup? He listens to mainly rock and metal,(metallica to All that Remains to three days grace). the box will be custom made, probably tuned to 32ish hz. No shops around here carry kicker so we have never heard any of the three. Any suggestio…

Hey guys, I have an s10 with a FI BL fully loaded 10" and a sundown 1500D on it. I have an alpine CDA-7893 HU, with polk audio coax speakers in the door and dash. I have already put sound deaden-er in the doors. What I'm asking is what amp and component speakers would you guys go with in an s-10. The door speakers are 6.5" I recently took out my sub and amp from my truck and I'm loving the leg room back. So whatever I get out of selling them is what cash I will have to put into a new component set. Im thinking 330 shipped for the amp, and I'm not sure on the sub yet. I'll probably go with buying a used 125.2 amp, or maybe something different. Would you guys go active o…

Sucks that Mach5Audio is leaving the forum. Im personally a little bummed that their products wont be so readily available and discussed on these forums. I am in the middle of an install using their speakers and think highly of them so far. Ive already sent an email to the addy from the notice thread but thought Id talk about it here as well. Just wondering if the MLI65s will still be available? Or any of the other products that were listed? Id love to use some in another install and always planned on buying them here.

these vids are terrible. if ure not into watching very bad speaker vids, then do not watch these please. it was just something to do. my camera is terrible ( operator error, thanks Raven ) it is NOT loud like this camera makes it seem... but considering it is an IB3 18 in a box off a $40 walmart surround sound in a box receiver, it's amazing. the sound is distorted and loud so turn your volume down! This one was supposed to show the drastic difference when I get into Listening Position #1 and 2 vs the center of the room...didn't work out that way, camera just distorts it all at 2:08 you can see the Walmart recveiver LOL then right after Bass I Love You actually gets t…

I have seen on a few places here that people are noting the dif between using push teminals and a piece of 8AWG wire soldered to the tinsel leads and the ensuing point of both side of the discussion is "Well, that adds resistance" I will be posting a vid of my findings, seeing as how all talk is speculative, mine included. Testing one piece of 8AWG on a 1ohm coil - .01ohms Testing one piece of 8AWG by itself - .01ohms Testing one - Push Terminal - .02ohms Testing one + Push Terminal - .02ohms Testing one other - Push Terminal - .02ohms Further testing - I left the frame for an American Bass XFL12 D4(frame only) in the freezer for a…
