1st round was done in my Stratus, in a 2.5 cubic ft. box, tuned to 40hz. Burp freq was 44hz for all subs, they all peaked at the same freq in my car, just like every other subwoofer that's been in there. Here's the average numbers for each sub. I'm compiling a spreadsheet with every test individually tonight, when I finish testing. 1st test on a single SAZ-3000d, 300 amp alternator, Stinger 2150 battery, all run at 1 ohm, except for the DD 9512, which was done at .5 ohms, due to coil configuration on the only one I could get for this weekend. 5 burps were done on each sub, given appropriate cooldown in between burps. OK, well wondering what your opinion is on dedicated midbass drivers like the JL 6W0, TB 6.5, EU-700 and things of that sort? If one say had a higher frequency range say 10hz-4khz, would you use it? in a 2way or 3way setup? vented or sealed or in door. What price would you go for?

So I'm looking to go bigger (who isn't? ) and I was checking out obsidians. They look pretty nice, I'm pretty sure that the product is going to be great unlike some brands that are just starting out since obsidian was established by some reputable people. I've been wanting to do a big build for a while now and I've been hopping between brands, doing price checks and just seeing what I like most. I think I've decided that this build will work pretty well...though like I said it is a decent sized build so I was hoping that some of you could give me some tips on the best way to set it up. I know that's a really general statement, but hopefully you know what I mean. Anyways…

I'm thinking of going with the skar evl 6.5s but cant find much info on them of other ppl who have used them. Will they have a decent amount of output? Will have to be a sealed enclosure due to only having 1.7 cubes total to play with

so i was looking at onlinecarstereo and i have always wanted to try some Kappa's, perferably Kappa Perfects, but i can't afford that at all right now, i just need to upgrade what i have, which is garbage. i just bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the chick before me had a "system" in it. my coworker that knew her said it was a pair of some MTX's, he thinks 9500's. (she was some little druggie/dealer and was all drug money rich) anyways she completely blew the car stock speakers (some Infinity Gold speakers). before blown i'm sure they woulda been sweet. and i coulda tuned it fine. but they are blown to hell and i need new ones. basically, what do you recommend, i have aro…

Hi I am about to install my SI sub. Its a Gen 2 SI 12" D2 sub. It will be part of a 4 way system looking like so... BG Neo3 Tweets In the pillars or kicks (not sure yet) Scanspeak 4.5" Revelators In the kicks Peerless Xls8" In the doors (1) Stereo Integrity 12" In the trunk. I have 50 Watts to the Tweets 150 Watts to the Scans 300 Watts to the Peerless 900 Watts to the SI Sub... All US Amp USA Series Power The SI sub will need to blend well with this setup, and will play from 65ish down. I need some ideas for box placement and what kind of box. I am willing to fiberglass so I was considering the side of the trunk behind the wheel well, or off the back of my seat fac…

Yep. Topic says it all. I've basically just ran all the wires and installed the head unit (25'th anniversary Alpine). The Tara Labs RCA's are the absolute $hit. Ask Hoss, he was here today. Anyway, on with the pics. The pics may not show up in order (it sorts them alphabetically I think) but you can get the idea.

I have been accumulating equipment for a while. Originally I was going to be installing everything in my 96 Eldorado. Things change and now I'm finally making progress installing everything in my new ride. An 03 Lincoln town car. I've spent some time talking with BigJon here on the forum. He has large format teeters on his A pillars and Sundown neo 8's in his doors. I originally wanted 8's for the Cadillac, but they wouldn't work without modifying the door panels. So I bought Peerless Nomex 7" 830875 for my mids, and large format Scan-Speak Discovery D2608/9130 for my highs. Now I'm wondering if I should stick with the 7's or switch them out for 8's that I know will fit …

Ok so im thinking about cuting holes in my door panel for my 6.5s Apline type R's So i can show the grills instead of leavingthem in the factory spot (08 Pont G6) . i plan on using a hole saw, would there be a better tool for that instead? and if i do that then i think the sound and performance of them will og down without some type of addend or extra install to go with them, especially with that small space between the door panel and the factory location, what could i do to ensure the SQ of them and performance? sound deadening maybe? or what could i put to fill that gap and etc.

Hello Everyone, I have had an Infinity Reference 1260w in a sealed box powered by an RE Audio DTS 1000.1 subwoofer in my vehicle for over 6 months now, and I have decided to upgrade. I purchased another of the subwoofers, and attempted to install it. RMS Values of 1260w's = 300w @2ohm DTS1000.1 = 560w For some reason that I can't determine, it isn't playing as loud/well as before, much less louder as it should. Is this because my amp is too weak? I am attempting to wire it down to a 2 ohm load, and to do this I have run the speaker wire from the amp to the first sub, then looped it to the 2nd. AMP + ---> sub #1+ ----> sub #2+ AMP - ---> sub #1- ----> …

This thing was already in a box when i got it so i decided to just throw it in the car and see how it sounded. The enclosure it's in is pretty beefy but it's sealed, which i know wasn't recommended for that sub. Probably about .85 cubes if i had to guess. Anyway, wired in parallel for final 2 ohm load at the amp. Amp is MTX 81000d rated 1000wrms @ 12.5v and i believe it should be pushing around rated power. Anyway the excursion on this thing is SICK, kinda moves like the old eclipse TI,s. However, I am disappointed in it's output. I have had several single sub setups in different cars, ported and sealed, and honestly, it doesn't seem any louder then a kicker comp 12 w/ a…

The second battery resides behind the passenger seat which is un-covered at the moment and I installed the HO alt today. Voltage at idle is 14.5 volts and everything is louder. The Sundown Audio amplifier LOVES voltage for sure - on the Fall Out Boy CD it was just as loud on vol. 50 as it was previously on 60. My doors also rattle more now than they used to. And the sub stage is considerably louder now since the amplifier is actually getting the voltage that it needs. I can finally get the subs moving over an inch. Mad props to multiple batteries and HO alts!

I installed them today in the back of the rsx in a sealed box. They are running off a jble 1200.1. So far I havent been pushing them too hard because i want to break them in properly. They are running off the stock head unit spliced into my rear speaker. They wont get very loud but when they do they shake your whole body. They are very accurate and have great response to the fast bass lines. I'll be getting a real head unit next week and be ready to push these to their limits. Sorry for the crappy pic, it was taken at night with a camera phone.

Ok so installed them today, but it is quiet as hell. Will it get louder as the suspension breaks in? It is a D2 wired for 1 ohm.

Before anyone asks, not the Blazer, but a Blazer. 12" sealed in about 1.3 cubes with a Hifonics Z600 on it. If and/or when Jake ever shows up on here he can vouche for what I'm about to post on. Our bass demo CD that we have made has everything from Tocatta in B (off the Bass Mechanic CD) to Tricycle (for dynamics) to Bela Fleck, to Spies, to...well you get the picture. Tocatta (sp?) in B is just nuts. Unlike the previous generations of Mag's, there is no shelving off in the extreme low-end (the older Mag's would drop about 3 dB but keep that same level through the lower freq's). As the bass drops, the Mag just keeps the SPL the same. This single 12 off of 600 watts…

Well as Sean knows, I've been beating myself up over what speakers to replace my Blose in my 06 Silverado. Some of these questions are truck specific that I know Sean will be able to answer and the rest I'm sure theres a handful of you that can chime in. I finally am deciding on the Pioneer 720prs's but have very little knowledge in what to do for the install. -The bose are 6.5's and the 720's are 6.75's so I'm not sure what I'll need to do exactly to fit the 720's - I have a JL 300/4 and a Avic D3 for the speakers to pair up with, but what exactly will I need to do? Is it as simple as: -take out old speakers, screw in new (or will I need to make a baffle out of MDF …

Right now I have 2 RF T110D4's in sealed box fiberglassed to floor under back seat. I want to up grade to get it a little louder and sound better. The box now is about 1.9cuft I think. I will tear this out of course for new box. Is there anyway to jack up the seat brackets a couple of inches to allow more volume to the box? And still make it look good, and functional. I've always wanted 12's but was told they wouldn't fit. Is there any way I can get better option's with leaving the seat back there? My amp right now is a RF T10001 power series. I will upgrade that if I need too. Is there any customizations I can do to allow me to get some good quality 12's under the back s…

We're entertaining the idea of releasing an 8" speaker. The speaker will be able to play up to 300 Hz minimum (probably higher), F3's in the mid 40's out of car (even lower in car), and vented around 27 Hz. The driver will feature a low inductance coil, very light moving mass, a stamped basket, and a competitive price. Xmax estimates are around 11 mm one-way. The 8's will be monsters in the car audio environment, sealed or ported. ~0.5 cubes sealed or 1.2 cubes ported tuned to 30 Hz. What do you think?

I'm very keen on buying the Rl-P from soundsplinter, i've heard all good thing about them, absolutely nothing bad. Recently my cousin purchase an idmax woofer, 12 inch one, it sounded awesome, the best sounding woofer i've ever heard. question is, how are the Rl-p compare to this IDmax woofer?? Are they comparable in SQ term?? Price wise, SS is defintely more attractive. So anyone with experience with those two drivers please feel free to post your comment. Thanks in advance.

hmm i got some info today about ported boxes. I was thinking about using a ported box and porting the bass into my cabin. Well... it turns out all the port itself does is boost and PLAY the frequency it is tuned to, and the majority of the bass still comes from the front wave of the sub. so if i tune the box to 31 hz and i stick the ports into the cabin into the cabin i will hear boom boom boom BOOM boom BOOM the "BOOM" being the frequency the port is tuned to and it will overwhelm rest of the bass. i think thats why spl people like to upfire the ports into the cabin. any comments?
