So, right now I am running a 2011 RF Punch P2 12" on a RF Prime R500.1 (500 watts @ 2 ohms). This is in a 1.72 cuft enclosure tuned to 31.8 Hz via 4" aero. I have the itch to upgrade. I understand that almost anything is an upgrade haha, but I was curious if the SSA GCON 12" would be a substantial difference in volume, and SQ? I would put this in a 3 cuft box tuned to 28Hz via the 4" aero. My current setup is in a 98 grand cherokee, but it will soon be put in the trunk of either a civic or corolla. Well my friend was cleaning out his garage and was throwing a bunch of stuff out. He had this Eclipse sub in some hideous box and didn't want it anymore. So I just took the sub and left the box there. He had it connected in his car for about a week and it worked, but it had a tear in the rubber surround. I think while taking it out of the box I also broke one of the terminals. Is there anything I can do to save the sub? Will I have to get a recone? I'm not exactly sure when you need to recone a sub, I searched and found a ton of threads with people needing subs reconed but I don't when it's really needed. Is there any subs that will out perform a sp4? I mean I'm trying to avoid going with this simply because the waiting period I've been reading about this sub since it first came out.. I got a viper d1200.1 and i will be running 1 15" at 1ohm. would that be too much power? also if running at 1 ohm, should i build an amp rack with a fan? if the rack is nessicary, anyone know any sites with some plans, or some ideas on designs, etc. o yeah, i am putting this in a Saab 9000 hatchback.

I have been wanting to try out a 12" Mag for a while now. The guy is selling an older version for $200+shipping. I think he may go a little lower, but I dont know yet. Looks to be in decent shape, few cosmetic battle scars. Major scratches on the basket but still looks OK. Now this is what I am so skeptical about, he reglue the spider to the cone and basket. Looks like potential trouble in the future. I really want one that I can have many hours of listening enjoyment from. Please give some feedback on what you think.

I have one 12" fi ssd in a 2.5 ft^3 box, tuned ~32 hz. Im planning on getting the sundown 1200d v.2 with another 12" ssd. I'm thinking about attaching the new sub to the front of the current one, (so the cones are facing eachother), granted they'd be out of phase and far enough apart so the surrounds dont make contact. Im wondering if this will produce the same or worse sound quality than I'd get with a regular 5.0 ft^3 box for the 2 subs. This way, I could save what little trunk space I have left without having to make a whole new box. Should look something like this:

Had to killed the Treo system the installer and me was not seeing eye to eye and I was not going to give away money that I work hard for. Now need help on the new set and the only thing that I have my mind made up on is the and it will be an Alpine 9831 or 9831. There are four subs I thinking about :Soundstream T4 12, Kicker L7 12, Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 DVQ and the Alpine SWX 1242D. Just want to know out of the four which on would be the cleanest and hardest hitting sub? Not sure on the 6.5 and the 6x9 and the amps to run yet will read what youre think.

Just kidding. That's from one of my favorite movies. My Magnum finally lives. Got it all hooked up today. Just in time to get delayed at an airport on my way to Florida. Anywho, now it's on to the next phase. My doors and my front stage. So far it sounds pretty good. I haven't tweeked anything and all I have inside the car is a couple of POS stock speakers. Sister want to up grade the system in her 2005 Nissan Altima there will be an Alpine headunit. As for the doors and rear and her single 10 she dont know which way to go. So far she side she like Focals and Infinity for the doors and rear but which one will be better for everyday use? Will be back on the sub.

after much frustration, a blown amp, and unnecessary investments...my system is finally working...it consists of 2 maw 15s running off a viper 1200.1d, some nextar canadian tire deck, cerwin vega components, infinity rears(now blown, heheh)....i am amazed with it...with a very conservative gain setting, no bass boost or equalization it absolutely pounds, and blends fairly well with the speakers...ive heard alot of bad things about 15 inch subs being muddy and undefinined...but hot damn the maws sound sharp, just as crisp and punchy as a pair of 10s imo...i have yet to actually listen to the system at its full potential, as i blew the rear speakers and im going to put new …

In a slightl;y better enclosure than the last. Last enclosure was the fibergalss one I built which was 1.9 cu ft tuned to around 33hz using a 4" aeroport. This is a 2.1@31hz enclosure I had fisher customs makle up for me. More port area since space wasn't as critical as the GTO, plus I will have the seat down from time to time, so minimal port noise was wanted. Thje area is 31 sq inches. This setup sounds so much better than the GTO did. A lot louder as well. Most of that has to do with the 2 different vehicles though. The GTO just isn't advantageous to a sub in the trunk. I got shafted by robotunderground with a dank adire audio brahma 12". It died after about 6 months of use running it on an Arc Audio 1000.1, 800w @ 4ohms. I researched about his frankenstein subs after the fact unfortunately. So to the point at hand, I haven't really kept up with what current drivers are out there and what is quality since I would say 2007 or 2008 when I got a Fi BTL 15". I've been building my powerstroke and working so iv kinda moved away from audio but today I bought me a nice 2008 fusion daily driver and want to know, what's some new good stuff out there now? Want a pair of 12s. Nothing crazy. Only have around 2000 watts to push them with. What's every one think? Anyone have anything for sale?

I got my 12" Magnum today. Such an amazing looking work of art. I am hoping to get my amp rack done and get it in the car this weekend. Then I just need to wait for my 302's and then I'm done. Who hoo. It starting to feel good. I am really excited about it now.

Welp... picked up my SPL 12 from the post office today.... damn it's impressive. Unfortunately my comp. car is in storage already... so it'll have to wait a few months before I can play with it If Mark comes out with a 15 though... I can guarantee I'll be picking up a pair of those too!

First off this thing looks so much nicer in person than the website pics. it also has a ton of clearance for excursion, hopefully the pics show it. here are some box specs for those interested.... 10" .3ft has F3 of 42hz, .5ft has f3 of 35hz, .75 has f3 of 32hz and 1ft has f3 of 30hz. 12" .5ft has f3 of 45hz, .75ft has f3 of 38hz, 1.0 has f3 of 35hz, and 1.5ft has f3 of 31hz. some bandpass designs are included but once again in the manual it states that this sub is not for traditional ported boxes. Overall i'm very impressed with the build quality and i've grown to love the look of it. Hope to have a review up soon.

Im looking to upgrade my current set up. Ive narrowed down my choices to ether a DC level 3 15, FI SSD 15 with cooling and flatwind coil (which ive heard are comparable to a level 4), and an Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 15. Ive seen a lot of bs saying that the DC subs dont have good quality soft parts and am looking for some people that have ran these subs before that might be able to give me some insight to help my decision. In terms of loudness, in a ported box tuned to 34 Hz, which would be louder? Mach5 IXL 10 or RE SX 10"? I know the Mach5 is cheaper, and can fit in a tighter box but I hate that it comes in Dual 2 Ohm. I wish it were Dual 4's. I've seen a review here where the Mach5 SPL got metered and was fairly high with the RE MT. If there's someone here who has heard both(IXL 10" & RE SX 10") please answer.
