When I was planing out my current system, I almost (like had them in the cart and didn't buy) some planar transducers and glassed them up on the A pillars or in the kicks of my Yukon. I decided against them based on some things I read about the diaphragm being so fragile. I read claims about air and heat damaging the diaphragm so I decided against that. I did have a set of Infinity towers way back that had a EMIT ribbon and I really enjoyed the sound. Unfortunately me being young and not having enough power on tap, I blew the EMIT's a couple of times and finally sold them for something that would get louder on my power. Wish I had those back now that I could take better…

I bought it as a hybrid 15 xbl2 sub a few years ago. It was described as smilar to a brahma mk1.5, But it dosnt look anything like most of the brahma motors ive seen. Im thinking about having it reconed to an 18". But from what ive read the brahmas didnt do well as reconed 18"s. if anyone has any input on what motor this is, and if it would do well as an 18" let me know http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000380rw9.jpg http://img389.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000379kr6.jpg http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000389in5.jpg http://img389.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000391hs1.jpg

Currently I have the Alpine Type R SPR-135 5.25" component set, the older model. They are on my Rockford P500-2. They keep up fine with my 18" on most songs, but do fall behind on bass crazy songs. So I was thinking of upgrading to better speakers, as I want more SQ, but still need to be able to keep up with my single SSD 18" on a SAX-1200D SPL wise. I was looking at some pro audio speakers on parts express. I notice there's a lot of setups were people run the 6" selenium woofers along with the ST350 super tweeter. Are these a better setup for SQ than what I have or are they purely SPL speakers ? If I went with those as my mains it would require some fabrication. …

Is 2.5 cu ft too big for a 12" RE Audio SR subwoofer? RE recommends 1.5 cu ft tuned to 35 hz. I have it in a 1.7 cu ft ported box tuned to 30 hz and it doesnt move like its suppose to. I have 400 watts RMS on it. Getting another amplifier is out of the question. I want my sub to be more efficient and have a more extended lower end. I just dont want it to sound bad (or get "boomy"). Thanks

Hello, I've been planning an in-car IB set up for about 3 months now, I finally ordered and received a Fi IB3 18 a little while back. It's going to be hard to get an 18.5" diameter in a trunk opening to the cabin... but I'm creative. I need a bunch of pics and vids for some inspiration and some ideas... please help! Thanks in advance. Krypto

Do xcons or SA-10s do good sealed?? I have a ported box at the moment but thought about going sealed possibly on my next setup and spend time making a simple but very good looking box. I have a ported 18" box I could use for a 18 xcon but it was my first built box and isn't all that clean looking. I though about either sealing 1 18xcon or 3-4 SA 10s but I didn't know if they are going to do very well sealed up?? Will I lose a lot of output by going sealed vs porting them?? All experience with these drivers sealed is very appreciated!!!

alright, so i finished up my box last night, and got it installed this morning. the box seemed heavier than what i expected, so after i put the sub in, i weighed it. it came in at 64 pounds. not a lot since the sub is like 20 pounds, but that box seemed heavy. on to business now....so far it sounds great. i could not believe how much of a difference the box made. it hits real hard, gets pretty damn loud, and holy chit LOW. it doesnt do any flexing, but when it hits, it moves the whole windshield at the top seam and the same with the back windshield. i can't get my rear view mirror to stay put and it is shaking my headliner. i dont have any rattles other than the bladder …

Hey guys, so I am making a LOUD daily pounder with a good possibility for competition. I keep reading stuff about adding midbass up front. At the moment I am planning on running 4 12's (either havocs or BLs) in the back off of about 6k watts total (probably 2 sundowns for amps). I am lookin at RF 5.25" comp sets for the doors (at least up front), more than likely an entire set per side, 1 speaker+tweet in the door and one in the A-pillar. Will I be needing midbass??? And if so, is it okay to put that in something like a kick panel instead of doing MAJOR refab work to the door?

I was going to shoot for Fi SSDs or BLs to go with my sundown 1200d v2 But I can grab brand new Rockford P3s 12" for $220 from my buddy who bought them and decided to go a different route I know most of you on here eat, sleep and breath car audio but over all what do you guys think of these subs honestly? Can they handle a sundown 1200d v2 without turning everything way down? By no means do I plan on cranking it way up, but I just dont want to blow these subs with that amp. So for the price what would you guys do?

First let me say that I absolutely hate having to ask a this vs that question. That being said I want to get the best setup for my preferences and have limited experience. I have had many different setups but only two serious setups. Both included identical parts (same car I blew one sub switched to another.) For electrical I had the big 3 done in 0 gauge, a normal battery in the engine bay with 4 red tops in the back, 5 single farad capacitors on a bus line, a Alphasonic 8 volt line driver, two Earthquake D3 amps, and a 240amp alt. It was in an old school 4 door buick century (yes the system was worth much more than the car lol!) At first I had a 15" Audiobahn Immortal Q…

Hi from Bulgaria, everyone. At first I was going to buy one of the new Nightshades, but realized there will be some months till I get the money and I won't have any other sub to bang in my trunk. So I am looking for something cheap till I get the money for the NSv2. I am very tempted at the ongoing pre-order of Sundown Audio SA-8. I can get it here to BG for around the same price as Alpine Type-R for instance. My goal is a cheap sub that will bang loud and good for it's money. Sound Pressure ... around 35 Hz. What are your thoughts?

Okay the MTX tweeters had one die on me last week. So I finally decided it was time to replace them. I was going to use cheap-o wal*mart 3/4" tweets but after seeing they are 10 watts RMS, i knew they would be worthless. I decided to check out some Power Akustics. After picking them up I noticed no swivel to the tweeters themselves. Okay no problem, I can adjust by how I mounted them. I started off with Hed P.E. "Amerikan Beauty". There is a good vocal range here in the females voice, and the lead singer's vopice as well. The first thing I nopticed is on the MTX x/o's they sounded VERY shrill. I dropped the EQ's tweeters level and tweet boost down. The tweet boost went fr…

I've been doing a lot of reading and searching and I was hoping I could get some additional help. Is there a classification chart as to which SSA subs are deemed "sq" or "spl"? Is it simply the way that they are installed that makes them better geared towards one type of sound? Also, with the greater power handling subs is the "type of sound" the same or as power increases so does deepness, loudness, etc? For example: Dcon - low power sq sub Gcon - mix of sq/spl at medium power Icon - higher powered sq sub Xcon - ultimate high power sq sub Zcon - balls out, no frills spl sub I know my review and thoughts maybe a bit elementary but please feel free to chime in and corr…

Hi guys, my first post. Anyways, I currently have 3x MB Quarts PW 302 subwoofers powered by a Rockford Fosgate 1501BD mono amp running at 1.3 Ohms stable. The problem is, I really don't like the sound quality / bass from the MB Quart subwoofers. Now I'm considering replacing them for 3x 12" SI D2 subwoofers. Will I be better off with those subwoofers? And are they better with bass and tight response in contrary to the MB Quart subwoofers? I mostly listen the following music: Techno, hardtrance, hardstyle and hardcore. Which all need a good low/deep bass but still very accurate and responsive. Help please. Thanks.

Hey all I just bought a new truck and I'm starting to build/price a new system for it. First things first I'll be getting 2 10's to fit under my extended cab seat. I already have the box so I'm just looking to find the right subs now. What I'm looking for is something along these lines-: -Maximum mounting depth of 6 1/4" -Quality>sheer volume. (but being able to pound would be a plus) -They will be in a sealed inclosure with approximately .95cf of air space total. -power handling can be about whatever. I'll be buying a new amp based on the power required. -I'm wanting to spend around $100-$150 per sub. So nothing too fancy. (and if you know of something cheaper t…
