First off I want to start out by saying a big Thank You to Nick for the oppurtunity to demo the proto. Now on to business. There is a defect (if you call it) in this proto. Nick can explain it better, and has in other threads. but the VC makes a weird noise at high excursions do to a bad chrome job and it leaking onto the pole, etc. But this will not be presant in the 15s when produced. So as to performance of the driver, I was expecting a bit better than my current Mag but to my surprise it was way more than just a bit better. Taking the VC problem out of the equation, this driver is much louder than the previous Mag. On my alpine HU it reaches the loudness of my Mag at …

I just want to clean up my sound not rock the block. This truck's going more for speed with nos upgrades and bigger engine. I am wanting to add a sub. I want to start with a cheap ebay box. I am going to make sure it's well sealed and seal it with epoxy or liquid nails http://cgi.ebay.com/CHEVY-SILVERADO-EXT-99-06-CUSTOM-12-INCH-TRUCK-SUB-BOX-/330590849981?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf8c00bbd#ht_1598wt_1392 then install a fi sub torn over 10 or 12" the 12 looks tight on mounting depth https://ssl.perfora.…

Does anybody have any experience with this subwoofer? I managed to pick one of these up on craigslist and couldn't find much information on it other than that it is SSA. It is VERY heavy and seems bigger and stiffer than my HDC3 18. I plan on building a new box for it since the one it came with seems small. I bought this because I wanted to put the HDC3 in a car application but most advised it would not fit with the space I had.

  6. Not sure if this has been asked before. But I have been considering going with a 15" mag. I know ported is louder. I am just wondering how much or if you loosing power handling going ported. I know that different size sealed boxes do change your power handling. Smaller boxes will require more power do to the compression the speaker is under when it pulls back for a bass hit. Also thinking about going with 34hz tune if I do go ported. What amp would guys recommend for a setup like that and i dont plan on going to a bass comp. But wouldn't mind having the power to show off once in a while.

I'm looking to get rid of my Atlas and find something that will work within this situation: I have 450w @ 4ohms to power the sub, needs to work in an enclosure no bigger than 2.5 cubes gross (the smaller the better), I would like something that will play into the 20hz range as flat as possible, and I'm looking to keep the price of the sub below $150 (or whatever I get for the Atlas). Sealed or ported, as long as I can package the whole deal within 2.5 cubes, I'll be good to go.

I'm trying to learn more about setting up my mids/highs & I've been reading a lot of threads about "going active." I think I've got the gist of what it is and how to do it (kind of) but I'm trying to figure out what the benefit is. Is going active and using the HPF & LPF on the amp better than just using the passive x-over that comes with ur components? The only thing I can think of is maybe it's cheaper to buy a midrange and a set of tweets than buying a nice component set....Somebody wanna help me understand this a lil' better?

so my new box is going to be 5cu.ft and I think I'm going to tune it to 35hz but will I get more SPL if I go with 2 6" ports or one 6" port? I am going for SPL but it has to hit low to so what do you all think I know the old MJ has a 12mm excursion so I dont know if there's a need for 2 6" ports

Looking to getting an 8/10 inch subwoofer. I want the subs to be able to get loud, possibly mistaken for some 12s. But I really want them to be able to hit the spot, great SQ. Looking under 200 a sub. So far I was thinking along the lines of Assasins, DDs, SS Rls, TC10 OEM, smaller TCs, not realy sure yet though. Havent bought an amp for them yet so thats a little bit flexible.

Ok heres the story, i have a 1994 grand prix. Right now ive got 2 infinity woofers @700 watts total power, and right now im the loudest system in my city (yeah not many of us are into car audio) but yesterday a kid from school walks up to me and tells me hes getting 2 audiobahn competition subs for $600 bucks each and hes going to run 1600 watts to it. Now i tried explaining to him that audiobahn flat out sucks but wouldnt listen to me. So for braggoing rights of course i have to get a louder system than that (my infinities are loud but not THAT loud). The big question is should i need just 1 15" D2 or should i go with 2? i am going for exreme spl here b.t.w.

  21. hey whats up guys I made up my mind and decided to go with audioque, and now i just dont know if to go with the 1 hdc3 12" or go with 2 sdc2.5 12's, i would be using a sundown saz-1500d for the amp, now i know they say the more cone area the louder it will be, but dam i am very interested in that 1 hdc3 12" lol, oh and also if i were to go with the one 1 hdc3, what do u guys recommend aluminum or copper coils? i would be using it for daily music, mostly listen to hip hop, and i want some decent lows, but remember i want the loudest heard, which many say is different then actual spl setup, but im not a pro so i maybe very wrong, the point is im going with very loud mids a…
