Subwoofers / Speakers

Ok so recently I have really been itching to do a nice front stage to go along with my sub stage. I don't really know what active/passive really is. I also don't know if my h/u is capable of going active. I was looking to get a sax100.4. I need advice on what mids and highs to get. I am currently running all pioneer 61/2's an 4X6's. No real spending limit, well there is I guess but I can always save up moola.

Are these any good? I found a local shop with some FNX1514's and FNX2514's brand new in the boxes and some Fanatics amps as well. From what I can tell these are older Fosgate but I don't know much about them. What is a good price to pay for them? Should I get them?

I have 2-Eminence Alpha-6A(6.5" midranges) in all 4 doors on a Sundown Audio Sax125.2 that will be hear Wednesday. I plan on deadening the door frame and panel with Damplifier Pro but plan on putting these on top of the Damplifier Pro and positioned right behind each speaker. Will these be Deflex Power Pads(link below) useful or is Damplifier Pro all I need? Ok so yesterday i smelt a weird ass smell. It almost smelt like manure or something. Then I smelt it again today, twice. The second time i popped the trunk and stuck my nose in the port.. found the source of the funk... It was a burning smell. I was listening to music at full tilt which i regularly do. The oinly change i've made was putting on the loudness feature on my headunit. So what's the deal? The spider is fine and the voice coils look ok but they have spots on them that look like rust or something. Also the burn marks of the terminals aren't from me. My sub came like that. I am looking for a decent sounding 8. I've done some research and for me its between these 3 brands, mostly because i have found each one at a pretty decent price since im real low on cash and yet want one. A JL audio w0 or w3, Image dynamics ID8 v3 D2, or diamond audio D308D4 8". As far as the Diamond audio goes, i cant find any info as far as testing goes, but it has a 2.5" voice coil and i thought that was pretty cool, now that i say that im looking at the website and cant find specs for the 8 so i really am doubting it has that size voice coils. hi all i have a buddy just getting into car audio and hes looking to upgrade his juguar xj8s sound system the monly problem is he wants some bass but his gas tank completely seals off his trunk from his cab so nothing gets through. so i am looking for a 5.25 inch set of comps that have some strong mid bass to hold him over the only thing is he doesnt want to spend over 175

I'm trying to decide if I should go with (2) 15" BTL's or (2) 18" BTL's? Its only about $60 more to go with both 18's over the 15's but i would be using the same rms going to them. what size sub would sound better/louder being they both are getting the same amount of power/rms? ok, im new here, so hi i have a small car that i have an old used rockford phosgate 12" sub set up to a really old amp, and im in need of an upgrade. im kind of on a budget. i have a 2000 watt power acoustik amp picked out (with a bass knob), and now im looking for subs. im not sure if i should go with a rockford punch (stage 3?) 15", 2 rockford punch (stage 2?) 12's, or get a fi ssd 15" (probably with the bp power and copper coil)...or if you have any other sugestions in the same price range, please leave them (gotta consider my options eh?) sorry if like my terminology is off im pretty new in the whole car audio thing, but im addicted to bass and cant stop haha thanks g…

I am thinking of buying an DC level 5 18" Sub but I wanted to know if I had enough power. I have 2 Sundown 1200's so roughly 2400 watts. How would it sound with 2400 watts in a 8 C.F. Box?

I work at an electrical utility company and these go across 12700 volt feeder splices to carry over the ground. I just think tinsel leads every time i see em ...i know they are too big but it would be cool to see on a sub. though id share this with you.

I have a 1994 Toyota 4runner and I want to upgrade my speakers, mainly for highs, but for mids also. I'm eventually going to get some 8's or something for mids and upgrade in that area. I have a Fi Bl 15 and a Sun Audio SAZ 1000d on order. My car has 4" standard speaker mounts in the dash, but none in the doors. I have a Pioneer DEH-P5000 head unit installed and some crappy 4" speakers that are almost blown. I could probably fab some mounts for some larger speakers, but if possible I want to stay with some 4" in the dash. Any input on some quality speakers that I could get for under $100 a pair would be great.

I have been looking around for a front end system now that I have my sub almost ordered. I know I need tweeters and other types of speakers to get this done. What do you guys recommend? I know there's 6 speakers total inside the car. My main questions are: 1) What brand and style of speakers 2) Is there a website I can look at for what size my speakers are? Ok, this is weird. I have an 18" Ascendant audio Sub. It has been working well for months since I bought it, however just recently while I was driving around (not bumping hard, just normal playing) it "stopped" working. There was no wierd sounds, static, it just stopped playing. I kept driving home since I figured the amp fuse might have blown or gone into protect mode , which would have been no big deal. However after looking at it, and testing it, I think the amp is fine. I don't have a DMM so I took a home stero speaker, wired it to the amp just to see if I got a sound from the speaker and it worked fine. Just getting back from a deployment and there are alot of new stuff out there so... I'm looking into getting a pair of 10s. I was looking at the IDQ and IDMAX but since I got to this forum I'm seeing sundown and ssa as well as some other's. I already had a box built to hold the IDQs but right now I'm running two american bass dx 10s which by the way for 35 a piece I'm rather impressed with them to say the least. What would you guys suggest. Right now I have a choice of running between 900-1700 rms and the box I have I think has 1.5 cuft per chamber...

i plan on building a wall of 4 18" subs powered by the new saz-4500 when it comes out at .5 ohm ... i have around 32 cu ft of volume to use up if i want ... i do not know which subs to get ... i am going to be using these for daily listening and i like punchiness and my lows ... i am trying to maintain sound quality while also staying loud .... which 18" sub would you choose? ... i am open to all options and opinions
