OK, so before everyone starts about how overpriced these subs are for what you get, I have a question. My friend bought one 13 W7 about 2 years ago and he's looking to sell it now...gettin married, well you know how that goes. Anyways he said if I was interested he would take $350 for it. Im pretty sure it hasn't been abused cause he usually treats his stuff good and also I know for a fact he was powering it with some type of Power Acoustik amp. Either way it probly wasnt seeing 1000 watts. Im gettin a newer car for college graduation and wanted to start with a totally different setup, replacing all the speakers in whatever it is that I get. Ive only heard one of th…

well the brahma started to sound funny so i pulled it...i figured the triple joint that i fixed came undone...but i guess i did a better job than i thought because the triple joint is fine...the spider came unglued from the frame! i plan on fixing it until i can afford a re-cone to a different size, but does anyone have any good tricks to align the coil so i can glue the spider back on? i figured i'll probably have to remove the dustcap and use shims to align the coil but i figured i'd ask.... anyone know where to get replacement dustcaps?

just wondering if I am running 75 watts to a set of components, can I run speaker wire from the amp to the factory wiring or do I need to run wire all the way to the comps, not sure on the exact gauge, but its just whatever honda runs to their speakers, probably 18 ga at best? what size speaker wire do I need to run to them if I run the full length? 14?

Alright...now that I have the accuracy/SQ of the system all set (Sealed pair of Magnums), I'd like to find something that really exaggerates the low end....I'm looking for an Fs lower than 26hz with a box requirement that doesn't exceed 4 cubes in a ported alignment...It can take lots of power if need be (up to 2200w) so long as it is a DVC2 woofer....I'm looking for either 2 12's, 1 15, 2 15's, or 1 18 to acheive this...without going over the $350 mark.. Trying to get a really low F3 (low 20's) So far my list is: 2 HC15's 1 HC18 1 Brahma 15 Anyone else have any suggestions??

  9. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

this just in, just found out today when i got some new h2's in, they changed the surround to a foam style surround that is taller. I was like wtf, whats this all about, and emailed my buddies at tech support to find out. my questions: whats the deal with the new surround on the h2's? any advantages? Reason for design change? They seem to look like they will allow more excursion, but thats all from looks. shane his reply: More power handling, and greater excursion, 32mm now ohhhh, cant wait to test!!! got someone testing at sbn, hehehe. will have pics soon.

Hey all, I just put two DD 1508's ported in the back of my extended cab f150, and to be honest they sound like poo. They do get loud, but notes just run together, no definition. That being said I'm thinking about offloading them and trying two maw15's sealed. I'm curious if these are more of a SQ driver, for the price they are hard to say no to.

  12. I've just got this sub and at first was very disappointed with it and the lack of output and low end bass it produces, it is in a sealed box BTW, so I thought ok, it need to wear it in.... so I've now had it running for roughly about 4 or 5 hours in total this week. It seems to be a bit better but still sounds just crap and pathetic with poor low end...especially considering its worth a lot more than my previous 8" sub My previous 8" sub picked up lows very well and had pretty good output for a $40Au ($30 approx USD) sub, I'd prefer it over this monster double stacked motored Rockford Fosgate It just isnt right and distorts really easy and the old cheap sub just puts it t…

I want moar midbass on my front. Currently I have the Alpine SPX177A powered by RF T4004. I was thinking of going for a pair of 8" for my mids. Can anyone recommend me a pair for under $200 - 250. Also it can be 7" as long as it can play low and has good midbass. I have 2 15Q on my subs and when I play full tilt, all I can hear is rattle and no mids. Thanks

I just recently bought a Sundown Audio SAE-1200D, and I was going to buy a pair of JL 12w3v3-2 subwoofers and wire them in parallel to get an impedance of 1 Ohm. Now I have heard that the SAE-1200D is underrated and I was wondering what SVC 2 Ohm subwoofer could handle the full power of the amp. The main prolem of this whole thing is that I already paid the money for the box and if possible, I would like to use it. The box is a dual 12 inch ported enclosure with a shared chamber and one terminal cup for each subwoofer (If that even matters). Im also not looking to pay over 300 dollars for the pair of subs. (Which shouldn't be hard becuase the 12w3s that I was going to buy…

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for my summer build. I want to try a multiple sub setup (3 or 4) just because I've never had more than two subs before. Anyway, I found this simple calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=26 When I put in the parameters for the subs I'm looking at, I use the suggested Qtc of 0.707. With every sub I've tried, this gives me an enclosure volume a little larger than I'd like to use. I noticed in the "note" that you can use a Qtc of 0.9-1.2. When doing this, it brings the enclosure size down significantly. My question is, what are the drawbacks and advantages of not using the suggested Qtc of 0.707?

  18. ok here is my system: the head unit is a pioneer premier 750. the low/mid/high is all set to 0. bass is set at 0. sub control is set at 50 hz. and the level is + 6. my amp is a pg tantrum 1200.1 i'm using to push 2 12's in a 3.8 ft^3 box after sub and port displacement tuned to 30 hz. the bass on the amp is set to 0. x-over is down around 50 hz. i can only turn the gain up about 1/5 up and i hear terrible distortion. if i keep the gain all the way down and turn up the headunit a littl i get terrible distortion. i have my rca cable run on the opposite side of the power wire. these subs don't get loud at all before they distort. my 6.5's get louder than these wit…

  21. I've built a couple of hundred boxes all the way from 2 6w0s in a Ranger to 3 Shockers in a 200SX wall(12 10"s earlier in the same wall) and 8 12"s in my Eclipse I used to have, as well as the run of the run of the mill multiple 13W7s, JUGGS, 2 12"s and everyday beaters middle of the road subs, as well as helping db drag and MECA guys at any opportunity cause that's how I get down to always give a helping hand. Now that I finally got a job my next future woofers will be beasts and I know simple screws will shear and break. My problem is (and I have TRIED T nuts before with dissapointing results mounting them) I need you guys' help. If anyone can take a few pictures an…

I'm looking to install a single 10" subwoofer under the rear seat of my '18 Ram 2500. The enclosure is sealed with a gross volume of 0.8 cubic feet. The amp hasn't been purchased yet, but I'm leaning heavily toward the new Sundown SFB1000D which would provide 1k watts at 2ohms. I'm looking for sound quality while still having the ability to get reasonably loud. I listen to rock, metal and rap. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 10" GCON, but I'd like to get opinions on any other subs I should be looking at before ordering. Budget is <$400.

So i have been looking around at some midbass woofers but i am not to sure what to look for. What i would like from my midbass is that it sound good between the rages of 60hz-300hz. the midbass woofer will be placed in the door, 2007 ford escape. I would like to keep it under 65 per woofer.

I am wondering how these subs would compare as far as sound quality and SPL. , both 15" . Both powered by either sundown SAZ 1000d or a rockford t1000bd. I want to get a good quality sub and I am leaning toward the ICON but I am wondering if the SSD is a close enough match to save some money.

So I was getting ready and doing some research about my new truck before I bought speakers and I found an interesting fact........ I have a new 2014 F150 and it has rear speakers, door speakers and tweeters. Door speakers get the full channel, tweeters also get the full channel with a capacitor or resistor to cancel the low frequencies. There is no factory cross - over. I am not going to amp this set of speakers because I am concerened about my hearing listening to loud music all the time. Anyways so all I was going to do was replace the door speaker with a coax speaker and replace the tweeter with just a better one. Will I get too much high range with a coax speaker …
