Subwoofers / Speakers

hey everybody, I was just wondering if people on this board have used them before...any feedback, pros/cons about these subs? I will be using them ~30hz, mostly musical (daily use) and some competitions. Just would like some hands on info about them... Thanks, Andrew

My subs have arrived! CD on dustcap to show how big this thing is! Comparison pics. IXL beside a Pioneer TS-W384 15 inch woofer. I'll be starting my sub build pretty soon. I'll be going with 12 cubic feet tuned to 16 hz. This is a lot of sub for the money. I'm looking forward to getting these subs built and installed in my home theater!!!!

I just wanted to take a sec to thank Nick and everyone else accociated with Stereo Integrity. You guys make a great product for an excellent price. I have installed the mag in a temporary install. After breaking it in lastnight it was put into a 1.7cu.ft. sealed enclosure(before sub displacement). I am running a memphis 1000d to it. Going from 2 subs to one I will admit I lost some output, BUT, and I mean but, what I lost in output I drastically gained in low end extention and accuracy. Which is fine to me. Looking to get some components for setup. Budget is about $400-$500 maybe a bit more if it'd be worth it. 2002 Malibu, want to make some kicks for em. 6.5" comps. I want to get the best sound quality possible. I don't want them to be harsh. I haven't personally heard any of these brands but i've read that Focals can be harsh. I want them to be laid back, detailed, have good midbass, Just have a great overall sound and be able to get loud to keep up with some xcon 12's. I have a few that i've looked into. Tossing up a single 15'' Sundown Zv4 or two 12'' XCON's tuned for lows. I know that the Sundown is built for it but would it be able to offer me the same amount of throw that 24'' of cone area would from two 12's?

I've been checking these out on the sundown website and a few vids on youtube (obviously don't do any justice) I was wondering if any of you guys have heard about them or have them installed in your cars? I'm considering buying a set for my front speakers.

SO... im trying to gat an idea of what im going to do for my setup in the wagon. I will be walling it off. As some of you know... I bought a new daily driver that I gotta get running. Alright, i made a rough sketch in google sketchup, not sized at all just random measurements but this is how i want it look, and the specifications i was thinking about using. The port is partly external because i will be firing it through the rear deck of my car. Tell me what you guys think! My friend just got a 01 golf gti and wants a straight SPL sub. I told him just run a 12 since he wants to keep some space. What is a good all out SPL sub for daily loudness? His budget is $500. He doesn't care about sound. Also power will be off a 2k either dc or crescendo.

hey. im buying 2 Kickedr L7's (the all black ones. i think 2009...? idk) after school today. and im getting a great deal. ($200 for both) he said they were only used for 2 weeks. but u never kno. he still has the boxes. i dont have an amp to test them. but when i asked him if it was ok if i brought one to test them...he said it was fine. so im assuming hes not BSing me. i think $200 is a great deal. what do you guys think? also, i will either be getting a kicker 750.1 and use one sub. or a 1500.1 and use both. i dont have the money to updrage my alternator...or get an extra batt, any opinions on that? its going into a 1994 Toyo…

Currently have a 12" Ethos in a ported (aero-port) 1.75 cu ft enclosure. It's being powered by a Crescendo 1500.1. No complaints with the Ethos. I've just been considering downsizing on the box. First thought was to toss it in to a sealed setup, but then I might end up being disappointed from the output. Other thought was to consider moving towards either two 10's or 12's in a sealed setup. Looking at a few options, it seems like I can get down in the 1.0 cu ft range with using two 10's. Since the 10's would likely put me in to the desired box size, any recommendations on this? Would this potentially be a signaficant downgrade from the single Ethos? Curious to …

Ok so atm I have the ia comps and have them set at 120 lpf. If I go lower they start to bottom out. So I was thinking of going to a 3 "way" setup with some of the new sa8 v2's. I thought about trying to make them fit in the door but thats unlikely So my next thought is to either box them under the front seats or......build boxes to place behind the front seats on the floors. Now I'm only wanting these to fill in the 60ish-120ish area so I'm thinking sealed boxes. Would this work or is it just a plan to fail?

I've been meaning to ask anyone on here if they can help me out with a noise problem with my speakers... It doesn't matter what speakers are hooked up to my amp, they start thumping rapidly when I have the engine off in my car and the key is in accessory. I turn up the volume from my head unit just to get some bass going and then when I reach a certain volume my speakers start thumping rapidly and it's not the music that's bumping because I'll play a slow song and then when I turn up the volume at a certain level where my speakers don't like it, they go crazy. Before anyone freaks out we are still going to make subwoofers but we cannot use the name "Magnum" anymore. A Corporation called Mitek owns the rights to the word "Magnum" in car audio, so we cannot use it. This last batch of 12's and 15's that was just made will be the last speakers with "Magnum" on them. I am ready for June to fly by and get July rolling along with it in anticipaion of the new Mag!!! So who all ordered a new Mag?? 12, 15??? how many??? I ordered 1 15. Wish I could have got two but one is PLENTY.

So I hate to ask this sort of question as I realize that the sound of a subwoofer is so dependent on the install, but as the few audio shops around here sell a majority of RF, Alpine, and JL products, I have no way to judge what I am getting into. So here I go.... I currently have two alpine type-s 10 inch subs running off about 500 watts in a very poorly tuned Best Buy box... The cleanest system I've yet to hear is two 10 in memphis subs in sealed boxes, the loudest system I have yet to here is two RF punch 12's in one of their custom, fancy looking ported boxes running off of maybe 700ish watts. Hey all.I got my system installed and have been bumping for about a week.Havent had any promblems at all except for when I play higher notes.When I play the higher notes I can smell my subs a little bit.I noticed this like the day I installed them so I have been staying away from songs with the higher notes because I really don't want to ruin my new subs.I have my gain set slightly less than half way and that is really all I have touched on my amp.I have a DC 5k amp and 4 10" DC lvl 3's with lvl 4 upgrades.My enclosure is tuned to 33hz and I have 2 100ah batts as reserve with a 250amp Singer alternator.I have a clipping indicator on my bass knob and I always make sure it …

In the middle of building my system........ I have the pioneer avic-z130bt with Infinity Kappas for the dash and 4 Doors , I have the Kappa 4 Channel amp for the door speakers.. I also ordered Raam Audio; RAM matt and Ensolite to sound proof but cant make my mind up on which subs to get.. Im leaning more towards the Orion from what i have been reading as its more comparable to the JL W6... I'm wondering if anyone has positive experience or success running or a two-way subwoofer for the task of LSQ. I know two-way subwoofer systems aren't popular, at least today, but with enough planning I don't see why someone couldn't take advantage of multiple drivers to split the task of subwoofer duties and make tremendous gains in output without investing in a power plant of amplifiers to drive a single woofer to frequencies it simply isn't efficient at. Putting it into practice, achieving low bass (lets say 45-80Hz) is fairly difficult to achieve with my equipment in my car. But getting sub-bass, 15-40Hz isn't much trouble for me.
