Subwoofers / Speakers

Ok real simple. Wall in a first gen two door Blazer. 2x18"subs. I will buy the apms accordingly and have plenty o' space for a build. Back seat is out and will be staying out. Now would you go with the DP 18's or the new xcon 18's? I'm torn. Don't want a SPL only machine. Just a groundpounder.

Looking at a dc audio lvl3 15"- would i be able to get good sq out of this if i put it in a sealed box?

I just wanted to take a sec to thank Nick and everyone else accociated with Stereo Integrity. You guys make a great product for an excellent price. I have installed the mag in a temporary install. After breaking it in lastnight it was put into a 1.7cu.ft. sealed enclosure(before sub displacement). I am running a memphis 1000d to it. Going from 2 subs to one I will admit I lost some output, BUT, and I mean but, what I lost in output I drastically gained in low end extention and accuracy. Which is fine to me. I have ear problems anyways. Now in total I have about 1 hour listening time on it due to and unexpected amp problem (for some reason the amp goes into thermal p…

Will playing 5hz below my enclosure frequency be harmful for my woofer? My enclosure is tuned to 33hz right now, but on a couple of songs the notes drop to 28hz. My SSF is at 0 (dont kill me!) and here is why: The other day I played with test tones from 27-35hz and tried to set my SSF to about 28hz... For some reason no matter how much I adjusted the SSF to only begin at 28hz, it would decrease my 30-33hz output as well... As of now I keep it at 0 and just be careful not to play anything below 33hz too loud. Not trying play 20hz notes or anything, just wanted to know if its harmful to play a few Hz below your tuning freq. Don't wanna kill my woofer! Thanks!

Hello, I am new at this type of thing, but I want to put one, or maybe two subs into my minivan. It's a Chrysler 2002 Town and Country, and I was thinking about getting some JL Audio 10" W3v3's. The thing is, my dad doesn't want to have them in their all the time. So I was thinking that maybe I could use some banana clips to make them easily removable, but any other Ideas would work. Also I have a very small background concerning speakers or wiring or any of that stuff, like I said, I am new at this. Let's talk about subwoofers in general, which way will it perform the best, subs facing upwards(the roof) or facing towards the rear end? just wondering since i ve seen a lot of people doing upwards around here.. unless i just dont notice anyone that points their subs towards the rear end..

I am saving to upgrade my front stage and was pretty set on a set of hsk 165 xl's but I have been reading about active crossovers and I am interested. Are there any speakers that work better than others on an active setup? Would I still be able to use these Hertz active down the road? I am looking to keep it in the $600 range but I am also a believer in do it right the first time. Will be placing the new speakers in the front doors of my '96 Accord sedan, powering them with a 300 watt 4 channel alpine and ditching the 6x9's in the back. Like the title says. I'm ready to buy my next set of subs and had my heart set on 1 zcon 15. But for the same price as 1 zcon, I can get 4 Re audio se 15's in a nice box still under warrenty. I have the power for them and the room. So what do u all think??

I need a recone on a 12" Audiobahn aw1206t, and I have now idea on how to go about getting this done. From what I've heard, Audiobahn has gone out of out of business. So does anyone know what I need to do about getting this recone done? Or should I just trash it and buy a new sub?

i want a system that is crazy loud with great frequency range. i like hearing the jumps and drops from one frequency sweep to the next in my songs. i had a sub @44hz that i loved but it was not loud enough and had no low end (44hz, no low end? go figure). so i bought a new one and tuned to 35 and now i have no high end. so my thought was this. what about building a wall, dual ported subs with one tuned to 32hz and the second at 40 or 45hz. installing xovers and subsoncs to prevent the 2 subs from over laping one another. would this work or should i just build a sealed box and be done with it? i was thinking 2 SP4 18's

Does anybody have any experience with this driver? Does it sound decent? They are inexpensive and are supposed to be fairly nice drivers i was looking at pickin up two 10" and tossin each 1100w How would they stack up to two fi BL 10"?

So im doing a 3 way setup with either the CDT ES 07 and the Peerless SLS or the Hertz Hi Energy 165 (6.5) and HV200 (8) So which do you think i would like more and would have the best SQ

Ok guys I finally got everything in so Im having my box built early next week. Here is a Design below for my 2 18" Level 4 XL's:D. Its going in my 03 Gmc Sierra Ext. Cab taking the back seat out for this. Specs are 190 3/4 sqin port area tuned @ 33 hz and is 11.27cuft after displacements Everything thats going in the truck Plus 2 Large batteries and the MLA module which are not in the pictured And the actual truck I will update with pics when the box is being built..

Looking to get some components for setup. Budget is about $400-$500 maybe a bit more if it'd be worth it. 2002 Malibu, want to make some kicks for em. 6.5" comps. I want to get the best sound quality possible. I don't want them to be harsh. I haven't personally heard any of these brands but i've read that Focals can be harsh. I want them to be laid back, detailed, have good midbass, Just have a great overall sound and be able to get loud to keep up with some xcon 12's. I have a few that i've looked into. Ok so recently I have really been itching to do a nice front stage to go along with my sub stage. I don't really know what active/passive really is. I also don't know if my h/u is capable of going active. I was looking to get a sax100.4. I need advice on what mids and highs to get. I am currently running all pioneer 61/2's an 4X6's. No real spending limit, well there is I guess but I can always save up moola.

So after randomly selecting units and testing them (after a good burn-in period) here are the published specs for the new IXL-18.4. You may find them better than the original(s). Im bout to buy 2x 18" RD Audio Alpha V.2 subs from someone on here.... I was wondering if anyone knew the recommended airspace for each sub, and the best tuning frequency for these subs as well.... as of now, I have a box designed for both at 13 ft3 after port displacement and drivers and crap with a port space of 177 square inches and 20" long tuned to 34hz.... so basically im giving each sub around 6.5 ft3 tuned to 34hz ..... to me, this seems good, but I was wondering if anyone on here has played with these subs and if you could give me your opinion on the best box to run these things in? RDAudio.net doesn't have the box recommendations up yet... sooooo help please....…

Do you have to put it in the oven? Cuz the glue around that thing is super super hard like fiberglass, and i can't cut it off/

Hey Gents! Could you please give me speaker recommendations for an active 2 way front stage? I want to run 1 set of tweeters where the tape measure is in this pic: 2" OD is probably the largest I'd like to mount here. I would like to put a 6.5" driver in the lower factory location: The direction of the 6.5 is not ideal as it points down and forward, but I really don't want to build custom kick panels at this time. I will be running a Pioneer 80prs HU, which I want to run active. I do not have the 4 channel amp yet, but the Crescendo 800.4 is my top runner right now when it comes back in stock.
