I'm doing some research for my summer project and have a question about the amount of subs and power. Same subs and power, just different number of subs (I'm strongly considering Sundown's E8's). The question is, which setup would have more as far as output and low end? Less subs and more power per sub or more subs and less power per sub? Or, is it a situation where things would be pretty much equal (kind of like balancing out because less subs/more power=more subs/less power)?

Well guys, after a very loooooong wait...its finally over! And let me tell you, I have not even heard this thing yet and Im already creaming my panties. Here are some pictures, and when I have it installed hopefully a little bit later today I will update with pics. For those of you who already own an SSA subwoofer this will be nothing new for you (but probably brings back some great memories!). For those sitting on a fence trying to decide which way to go??? .... I have to say as far as shipping goes, SSA gets an SSA+. Holy shit you guys do this right! You guys even included a living room table! My son playing in the box. …

Currently have a 12" Ethos in a ported (aero-port) 1.75 cu ft enclosure. It's being powered by a Crescendo 1500.1. No complaints with the Ethos. I've just been considering downsizing on the box. First thought was to toss it in to a sealed setup, but then I might end up being disappointed from the output. Other thought was to consider moving towards either two 10's or 12's in a sealed setup. Looking at a few options, it seems like I can get down in the 1.0 cu ft range with using two 10's. Since the 10's would likely put me in to the desired box size, any recommendations on this? Would this potentially be a signaficant downgrade from the single Ethos? Curious to …

hey everybody, I was just wondering if people on this board have used them before...any feedback, pros/cons about these subs? I will be using them ~30hz, mostly musical (daily use) and some competitions. Just would like some hands on info about them... Thanks, Andrew

I'm wondering if anyone has positive experience or success running or a two-way subwoofer for the task of LSQ. I know two-way subwoofer systems aren't popular, at least today, but with enough planning I don't see why someone couldn't take advantage of multiple drivers to split the task of subwoofer duties and make tremendous gains in output without investing in a power plant of amplifiers to drive a single woofer to frequencies it simply isn't efficient at. Putting it into practice, achieving low bass (lets say 45-80Hz) is fairly difficult to achieve with my equipment in my car. But getting sub-bass, 15-40Hz isn't much trouble for me. Now rather than sacrifice on the 15-…

Tossing up a single 15'' Sundown Zv4 or two 12'' XCON's tuned for lows. I know that the Sundown is built for it but would it be able to offer me the same amount of throw that 24'' of cone area would from two 12's?

What effect does it have when wiring the tweeters out of phase? I've heard that it can be another tuning aid, but not sure what it does, or is supposed to do to the soundstage or sound of the tweeter. Will it make them more laid back? Make them distort easier or affect power handling in any way? I ask because I want to make sure if I try it that I don't do more harm then good, so any caveats are appreciated. Searched online and didn't find any useful info, but figured some of the more experienced here might share.

i want a system that is crazy loud with great frequency range. i like hearing the jumps and drops from one frequency sweep to the next in my songs. i had a sub @44hz that i loved but it was not loud enough and had no low end (44hz, no low end? go figure). so i bought a new one and tuned to 35 and now i have no high end. so my thought was this. what about building a wall, dual ported subs with one tuned to 32hz and the second at 40 or 45hz. installing xovers and subsoncs to prevent the 2 subs from over laping one another. would this work or should i just build a sealed box and be done with it? i was thinking 2 SP4 18's

SO... im trying to gat an idea of what im going to do for my setup in the wagon. I will be walling it off. As some of you know... I bought a new daily driver that I gotta get running. So this build will be after all that is done. I just want to get an idea of what I will be doing. my original idea was to go with 4zconsa on 4saz3ks. But I was thinking... would a bunch if Dcons get louder? My goal id obviously to get loud while sound good doing it...that's why im going with SSA. I was thinking of doing something like a clamshell if I do the icons. Maybe like 16 12's or 10's. Something like that. Maybe on 2 saz3500s. Just trying to get some opinions.

Looking to get some components for setup. Budget is about $400-$500 maybe a bit more if it'd be worth it. 2002 Malibu, want to make some kicks for em. 6.5" comps. I want to get the best sound quality possible. I don't want them to be harsh. I haven't personally heard any of these brands but i've read that Focals can be harsh. I want them to be laid back, detailed, have good midbass, Just have a great overall sound and be able to get loud to keep up with some xcon 12's. I have a few that i've looked into. So give me your thoughts and opinions and if you suggest any others in my price range. I'd be willing to spend a $100-few $100 more if i should. I'll most likely be runni…

Alright, i made a rough sketch in google sketchup, not sized at all just random measurements but this is how i want it look, and the specifications i was thinking about using. The port is partly external because i will be firing it through the rear deck of my car. Tell me what you guys think! (Still working on perfecting google sketchup) Net volume ~ 8 cuft Port Area = 144in2 Port Dimensions = 9 x 16 x 37 (length) Tuning = 32hz Sub will be facing up aswell as the port.

Ok so atm I have the ia comps and have them set at 120 lpf. If I go lower they start to bottom out. So I was thinking of going to a 3 "way" setup with some of the new sa8 v2's. I thought about trying to make them fit in the door but thats unlikely So my next thought is to either box them under the front seats or......build boxes to place behind the front seats on the floors. Now I'm only wanting these to fill in the 60ish-120ish area so I'm thinking sealed boxes. Would this work or is it just a plan to fail?

My friend just got a 01 golf gti and wants a straight SPL sub. I told him just run a 12 since he wants to keep some space. What is a good all out SPL sub for daily loudness? His budget is $500. He doesn't care about sound. Also power will be off a 2k either dc or crescendo.

I've been checking these out on the sundown website and a few vids on youtube (obviously don't do any justice) I was wondering if any of you guys have heard about them or have them installed in your cars? I'm considering buying a set for my front speakers.

Ok I've been looking around a lot and the beefiest 10" I can find is the dc level four xl, with 1500rms that is probably underrated... I dont know prices but are there other 10" above 1000rms that dont break the bank? I really wish fi made a 10" btl but that magnet is HUGE... Im considering a single 10" for primarily spl purposes but the better it sounds the happier I am ... so any suggestions?

just ordered a single 12 zcon that im going to run on a bc3500.. so excited but damn I dont want to wait... I guess thats a small price to pay for such a quality product. I would also like to thank Aaron Clinton for being so helpful and answering all my questions and concerns with lighting fast response times... i will also start a build log once I get the sub in my hands.. what do you guys think? will it get me loud in a 02 cavalier?

I'm considering going to a single twelve to get my trunk back, and I'm having a very difficult time deciding on a driver for my application. I like the output of the BTL 18 I have and I am under the impression I can achieve similar output on a smaller driver because I've never even heard the Btl on more than 1500rms. There's a few too many options for me to pick from, I've been spinning in circles. If I'll have 7500rms on tap and anything from 1.5-2.5cu, what would be a woofer capabile of strong authoritative bass? I'm looking at N2/N3 12's, Evil 12's, Team Sundown 12's but I have no clue how to pick one. Each is a significantly different price and I just want to mak…

About half of my active setup arrived in the mail today. The tweeters are supposed to come later today and then some more wiring tomorrow, the mids friday, and the coustic crossover on saturday I hope. FEDEX really beat the chit out of my packages. I was kind of scared at first. Now, without further ado, stick around for more
