I know that too small a port area will lead to port noise, but what happens if you have excessive port area? For example 20 sq inches per cubic ft of volume? I know many manufactures recommend 12-16 inches per cubic foot of volume, but is there a downside to going over this?

  6. So I wanted to ask some questions about XCON's. How much wattage can these things handle? I'm looking at buying two 12 inch XCON's for my second sound system ever. Last one was stolen, but since then I have a viper alarm and a bunch of other safety stuff. But anyways, I just wanted to know a little more about them since on the website it doesn't really say how much they can handle. Also, one of the package deals on the website for a 12 XCON with a Sundown amp, is the XCON a 1 ohm or 2 ohm sub in that combo? And can that amp power two of the XCON's? Or would it need to of those amps? I would greatly appreciate these being answered.

i have a 94 caprice wagon and had purchased infinity693.7i 6x9's for the rear. they work fine up until i actually go to screw them in. they actually seem to be grounding themselves out on the bracket where the speaker goes. i checked all the wires and nothing is wrong as far as i can tell. i think it may just be a defective speaker. any input/help would be greatly appreciated.

  15. Ive posted about this subwoofer on a few other forums, well it took me a couple weeks to even get the guy to tell me the shipping and send me a paypal invoice, well he said the subwoofer was $250 for 1 Oz audio 15" ME15.2 ......which is a good price, but hes trying to charge me $55 to ship that seems to high to me even if he is insuring it and using their packaging...the reason is, is i just shipped 2 RE SE 15's UPS ground to a guy in the same state where he lives and it was only $38 dollars....and he is using UPS ground too. The subwoofer is brand new, but i saw them go for $200 new shipped on here before....i realize they used to sale for over $300 normally easily and …

Up until recently Ive been thinking about going with a single 12" BL, SX, LVL4 XL, or BTL. But now after talking to Rusty, Im thinking anout going with 2 10s instead. Im still currently in the planning stage and i wanted some imput on what to do. Ill have roughly 2.5ft?^3 to work with under my back seat after I lift it 2 inches. I mainly listen to rap, and my goals are to get loud and low. ill currently do not have an amp, but ill be matching the amp to the sub/s.

I'm looking for a high SQ set up for my next car. I'm not sure what the car will be but it's coming soon. I'm in the idea phase right now. I'm looking for ideas on speakers, preferably coaxial. I'm also looking for a new amp for the speakers. I mean I want to have eargasms every time I get in the car lol. Also, at some point I do want a sub, but like I said I'm focusing on sound quality. I don't want it to overpower the speakers, but compliment them. I really want it to hit the really low notes with enough ease as I don't have to have it up all the way where the higher end of the base spectrum is too powerful. I listen to pretty much everything, including jazz, but main…

I have had a pair of IXL 12's sitting around since last summer. With the DBDrag coming up locally in a couple weeks I felt it was time to get my arse in gear. Heres the Basic design with the exception that I decided not to do a driver flush mount and therefore increased the width of the top port piece from 4.5" to 5. This box is 3.2cubes net. We did an impedance sweep and its exact tuning is 33hz. Two weeks ago I got my pieces cut and asembeled. Sorry I fogot to take pictures of the bare box. Nothing special though. But Heres the finished box......I previously had an eD 15 in a 2.5 cubes @ 27 hz box in my car and it did a 140.6db on 1200rms. After only a few hours pla…

I saw this post a while ago and there's something I've been wondering. I would say that I personally think the Xcon could take the Havoc ported. However, from what I understand the Havoc's get suprisingly loud sealed. How are the Xcons sealed? Comparing the AA Havoc 15 Vs. Xcon 15 sealed, either powered off a Sundown 1500 watt in 3 - 3.5 cubes sealed.
