I am trying to put together a 1st system for my little brother. He just turned 16 and has a 95 ford ranger reg. cab. This is his first system and I wanna make it pound for him. For front stage he has 6.5 components powered off a 50 x 2 amp, pioneer head unit. He listens to most everything but mainly rap and heavy metal. I have a eclipse Xa 1000d 300 x 1 @ 4 ohm and 480 @ 2 ohms. SO here is my problem. 1. limited budget 150.00 for sub 2. limited space reg cab ford ranger 3. I would like max output while sounding decent I appreciate any and all suggestions Chad

My dad is looking for a good sub for the boat. It will be in a cutout in the inner hull in the cabin area, so it will need to perform well in IB. I'm not too sure of the amount of moisture it will be exposed to, and I'm not sure if any of the actual marine subs will perform in IB. Any suggestions?

I started yesterday by buying a Kenwood KDC-X493 head unit, it has pretty descent features and i plan on using it untill i finish everything else, now i need to get new speakers, im not sure if i would like to run ctive or passive yet since i dont know all the advantages/disadvantages of each, so if someone could poit that out or direct me to another post that would be great, but i plan on having some in my…

Where can I find a plate amp for a subwoofer for less than $100? I've tried Parts Express but they only have a 25 watt one in stock. Here is my situation, so please help. My friend has two 10" sony subs that we are using for a cheap build project. They are both SVC and 4 ohm. Is there any way that we can hook both of them up to one plate amp? If so, how? We were looking at buying two plate amps, one for each driver, and doing things that way. Will a 25 watt per channel amp be good enough for a sealed design? We want to keep the total cost as low as possible. Thanks.

In a slightl;y better enclosure than the last. Last enclosure was the fibergalss one I built which was 1.9 cu ft tuned to around 33hz using a 4" aeroport. This is a 2.1@31hz enclosure I had fisher customs makle up for me. More port area since space wasn't as critical as the GTO, plus I will have the seat down from time to time, so minimal port noise was wanted. Thje area is 31 sq inches. This setup sounds so much better than the GTO did. A lot louder as well. Most of that has to do with the 2 different vehicles though. The GTO just isn't advantageous to a sub in the trunk. The cavalier is a bit more accommodating, just a chittier car lol. Here is a few short clips. I got…

Was using 1200 watts, but I'm moving to a smaller car and I'm going to put this in a box that's just below the min requirements. How many watts would this sub need? 300? 500? And I'm talking RMS watts. Thanks

I hope I can get some help here. I hooked up my SI 302 components tonight. They are in their temporary location until I figure out the best spot for the best sound. They are currently located where the stock speaks would go on my door of my 1999 Olds Alero. There are no door panels on currently. The mids are mounted pretty well onto a double MDF baffle that is 1.5" thick. The doors are as sealed as I could possibly get. They have a layer of liquid sound deadening on the inside of the door cavity and the skin of the door. Over this is a layer of mat type deadening. They are being run off of the bridged front and rear channels of a Memphis Belle. Now my dilemma. …

What is the consensus on usability of the volume of air behind the red panel ? This a box for an RE SE 15, that should go in a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant, very weird trunk and it's a 2-piece box. Box height is not enough at this point but I can get it 1/2" taller, which should be good to go.

I posted this someplace else but you guys seem to know Parts Express pretty well from my brief experience here! I have an 8" subwoofer from a 2001 Suburban with a completely disintegrated foam surround. Voice coil still works and spider is intact. The speaker is 2 ohms and sees about 50 watts from the amplifier. It sits in a small sealed box, around 0.5 cu ft. Thats about all I know of it. Parts express has many options to choose from. I want as cheap as possible since this vehicle is getting sold and I'd like it to have a fully working radio. If it was mine, it would be getting two 18s about now! Any ideas guys?

First, excellent place for information these forums are. I'm sure I'll lose a ton of sleep pouring over these pages. Now on to my situation. I don't need my vehicles to get extremely loud (I'm very happy at 125db), but I like it to be pretty clean. For this reason I usually prefer older equipment... running a pair of Kicker s12d solobarics until very recently (very happy with those btw). Newer stuff, especially "main stream" stuff tends to be more spl oriented and is usually pretty muddy for my tastes. Due to a downsize in vehicle (it's a 91 318is bmw) I am looking for a single sub I can stick in around a sealed 0.9-1.2ft^3 and sound clean, and loud when desired. …

i currently have a 12" rlp sealed getting 600 watts, but it just isn't quite loud enough. I found about three other alternatives but I'm not sure what is the best choice, whatever I get, I would get a new amp to properly power it. Choice 1: a 15" rlp Choice 2: TWO 12" Image Dynamics ebay woofers- http://cgi.ebay.com/Image-Dynamics-OEM-12-...1QQcmdZViewItem Choice 3: THREE 10" AA Assassin subs - http://www.ascendantaudio.com/assassin10specs.html Either choice sounds fun, but my overall goal is to be loud while still sounding good (i listen mainly to rock, so i like nice tight accurate punchy bass)

Hello all, I have a '17 Audi A3 and I recently had Best Buy install a Pioneer TS-WX1010A and it sounds great... However I have a huge issue with it. If I turn off the music or even put the volume to 0, the sub goes berserk. The guy at Best Buy has never seen that and of course has no idea what could be the problem... Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I picked up some BNIB 10" Clarion subs for stupid cheap. In the owners manual they have box sizes listed for SQ sealed (.5 cubes) and SQ ported (.65 cubes). I've never seen SQ ported box recommendations before. Anyways, here's something else that was in the manual. Sealed: Power Handling-Good at all frequencies Linearity-Excellent Dynamic Performance-Excellent Efficiency-Good Subsonic Output-Excellent Midbass Output-Excellent Enclosure Size-Small Ported: Power Handling-Good above tuning frequency Linearity-Good Dynamic Performance-Good Efficiency-Very Good Subsonic Output-Good Midbass Output-Very Good Enclosure Size-Medium Does this mean that these subs are more suited …

So, I knew starting to read more on car audio again would get me in trouble, so.... Looking at convincing my wife to let me maybe get an 18" sub for myself for christmas. This will be going into my extended cab chev s-10. Will be using a JBL GTO 601.1 amp to push it (600 watts at 2 ohms) (reason for the amp is, I already have it, and if I can even manage my wife to OK the purchase of a new sub she will never go for ok'ing a new amp as well) Looking at doing a 6 cubic foot enclosure slot ported tuned around 32 Hz Was looking at either the Ascendant audio Chaos 18 (dual 1 ohm coils) or possibly the Fi SSD 18 (again dual 1 ohm coils) Both call for up to 800 watts rms, an…
