i currently have a 12" rlp sealed getting 600 watts, but it just isn't quite loud enough. I found about three other alternatives but I'm not sure what is the best choice, whatever I get, I would get a new amp to properly power it. Choice 1: a 15" rlp Choice 2: TWO 12" Image Dynamics ebay woofers- http://cgi.ebay.com/Image-Dynamics-OEM-12-...1QQcmdZViewItem Choice 3: THREE 10" AA Assassin subs - http://www.ascendantaudio.com/assassin10specs.html Either choice sounds fun, but my overall goal is to be loud while still sounding good (i listen mainly to rock, so i like nice tight accurate punchy bass)

I just built a box for two audiopulse axis's sealed, with one ive used for a while and a brand new one. They are both dual 2 ohm, I got the box all finished and wired all the coils in series for an 8 ohm load for my home amp for testing, and nothin came one. I checked the final resistance of the box and it read invalid. I pulled the new sub out and checked each coil and they showed the right resistance, i pulled my older one out and it showed resistance in one coil but in the other it was invalid. I pulled the older sub out of its old box two days ago and it had a thin layer of saw dust on parts of it, i guess i didnt clean out the box all the way. I used one of the micro…

  3. Hello everyone! I need some advice about making a compact Subwoofer. I am planning to make portable,"on the go" subwoofer box, but I have dilemmas about the speaker size. The enclosure will be 6x6x6 inches. I can feet 5.25 inch speaker with no problem, but I have terrible feeling that the woofer will not sound good. So I need your opinion. Should i go with the 5.25 inch speaker, or I am going to need smaller speaker like 4 inches? I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

I'm looking to upgrade my sub and I have no way to hear either of these subs personally, give me your opinion please. I have a 94 Mazda 626, amp is a Kicker SX1250.1 birthsheet at 1420 watts. I'm looking at either: a 15" Fi BL with cooling a 15" Fi Q with bp power a 15" Ascendant Audio Havoc. I think I can get a 4 cu ft net box tuned to about 28-32 Hz into the trunk. The other question I have is that I think I have about 17" clearance under the parcel shelf. Is that enough room to get a box in that would fit a 15"? If it's not is there a problem with facing the sub up or should I stick with a 12" version of the sub? Also please let me know why you would pick the s…

Is it possible to easily mod the SSA DCON 12 to have a higher resonance frequency, say 39Hz? I know some subs appear to allow this by simple dust cap replacement (replace the stock dust cap with a lighter one).

Should I go with 3 or 4 kicker 12L7's.....2 13w7's....or 2 or 3 12w7's I'll probably haev either two kicker 1500 watt amps or the kicker 2500 watt amps. I'm looking to bump hard around town, sound nice and get real loud. It'd be nice to about hit 150dB if possible. thanks! Or if there are any other subs that are comparable if not better, suggestions are welcome!

Where can I find a plate amp for a subwoofer for less than $100? I've tried Parts Express but they only have a 25 watt one in stock. Here is my situation, so please help. My friend has two 10" sony subs that we are using for a cheap build project. They are both SVC and 4 ohm. Is there any way that we can hook both of them up to one plate amp? If so, how? We were looking at buying two plate amps, one for each driver, and doing things that way. Will a 25 watt per channel amp be good enough for a sealed design? We want to keep the total cost as low as possible. Thanks.

  14. well i have decided that it is time for a switch up in the system. i curently have a RE sx 15", with a american bass 100.1, but the sx is being sold today. after reading many rave reviews and talking to sean (ibander on most fourms) i am pretty set in that i want to get the new mag. the only thing is if i want a 12 or a 15. my dilemma, i would like trunk space. but no big deal if i dont have any. ibander said that with too big a box none of the sound will make it into the cabin, i believe what he says being that he knows more than me and has more experience. i will probally just go with a 12" ported i dont really have a question, or a point. just wanted to say hi and yo…

I finally got myself a better sub, a RE Sx12. I have the recommended box sizes from RE, but I decided to play with WinISD a little and noticed some big disparities. RE recommends 1.5 cubes at 33hz for a compact box, but WinISD seems to want a 0.75 cube box with some crazy port lengths. Am I doing something wrong, or is WinISD just weird? I followed WinISD's instructions and the parameters it calculated seem to match up with what RE has provided. RE also suggests a 2.0 cube box at 35 hz... Can anyone point me to an info page that spells out what effect ported box sizes have on output? I'm expecting to have to build a few different boxes to get things perfect, but how bet…

  17. Was using 1200 watts, but I'm moving to a smaller car and I'm going to put this in a box that's just below the min requirements. How many watts would this sub need? 300? 500? And I'm talking RMS watts. Thanks

  19. Well its official. For X-mas I am asking mommy and daddy to buy me another Hifonics 1500 amp and SI D2 15. I already have 1 of each right now but want to upgrade. I plan on giving each sub 4 cu/ft and port each to say 34 hertz? (Wanna score high in comps as well as keep it clean for a daily driver) The whole trunk is going to be a box, the subs will fire towards the rear with the 3 amps (2 sub amps and hifonics 2 chan) mounted ontop the box in a "suspended" setup. (Pole holding up a slab of plexi glass and the amps mounted on the glass). The whole box will be covered in gray viynl to match the gray carpet Across the front by the amps I will have a peice of plexi glass and…

  22. Yo, I have an older model 12" magnum sitting around, and i would like to put her to use in my stereo setup at home. however currently up front i have hybrid audio L4's playing from 16k to 180ish, then 8" DLS subs taking over from 180 down to around 40/50hz! so i'm looking for an enclosure that goes low, really god damn low, 20hz would be nice. i have a 1200w amp on it's way, so it will have plenty of power! space isn't really an issue aswell. Tried running the ts params through BBP but i can't seem to get the F3 below 38hz, which is a little lame and i enjoy woodwork, so if it involves a complicated design, than i shall build a complicated design. Ta very much Tim
