I recently bought a 2000 s10 from my grandma. It was my grandpa's truck who passed away over a year ago. It has less then 40K miles on it and hadn't been driven more then 200 miles in the last 4 years. Anyways, I've been thinking about a new system for it. I pictured in my head that it would be cool to build a shelving unit above the sub box in the back of the s10 (extended cab with 3rd door). Would include two open bins on either side of truck, with open space in between with metal rack to bungie to. Not sure if you can picture that but I think it would be useful. I've narrowed it down to using woofers no bigger then 10", due to height. Currently I have a 12" xcon…

So Im going to rebuild my wall, and im going to do 4 15s this time. I have 2 Fi Q 15s right now. But I can sell them and get SSA subs. The amp I will be running is a DD m3a clamped. So my question is should I stick with Fi and get 2 more Qs or should I sell them off and get 4 SSA Icons? just post your thoughts and opinions, the box will have a removeable port and be about 16 cubes before port and im guessing 14-15 after the port is in. Here is my system now,

So I'm really considering picking up two 12" RL-Ps for the new car. I've been reading through the forum here and it seems like people have nothing but great things to say about them. Add that to the fact that they have relatively small ported enclosure recommendations, and you have piqued my interest. The old system was 2 12" Infinity Reference subs (sealed) with 300W on each in a Cavalier. Sounded like crap, but at least I had some bass. I have said goodbye to that car/setup almost a year ago now and I really need something in the new car. I still have to measure the trunk to figure out how much space I want to give up. But I'm thinking along the lines of 3.2 ft^3, tuned…

Hey everyone thanks for having me. So I am rebuilding my substage after blowing one of my ID 10s last week, which I had 2 of in a sealed enclosure with .6ft^3 each...and it was "lacking" to say the least. I have a 2005 F150 Supercab and I'm pretty limited to what I can put under the back seat. In getting back into car audio after over a decade, I am blown away by the kind of output todays subs are capable of, even from single driver systems. In talking to custom enclosure guys, it seems I'm pretty maxed out at around 2ft^3 which I'm thinking will be around 1.75ft^3 after port displacement (tuned into the low 30's) I'm looking for something that will have fairly signific…

I currently run a single 12 inch zcon and don't really have the room for multiple sub's or any bigger. I'm looking for suggestions on a sub that will get louder and lower if there is one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I could fit a 15 but I don't really want to build the box inside the trunk.

hey guys, i've been trying to figure out what to do and i'm hoping you guys can help me out. i've been on the fence for the past few months trying to decide which pair of subwoofers i should get for my new set up and i've narrowed it down to two choices, but i can't decide which one to go with. my choices are either 2 Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 12'' or 2 AudioQue SDC2.512. the crappy thing is i'm in Canada so its tough to find the subs to demo in person. now from what i've read online about reviews for each sub they both seem to be awesome. they both cost about the same. both do 600rms/1200peak though i've read that people have given them both more with no worr…

Someone local to me has an enclosure for sale with 2 ten inch oz audio subwoofers in it. They are a red cone with yellow writing in them. Does anyone know anything about them? I can't seem to find anything. All I can get is info on the matrix elite, power, vector(purple), and old superman logo sub's. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have 2 MTX subs and one of them is about to go out the door and blow. I have a RF 501 BD amp 500RMS@ 2ohms and a 3.4cubic foot ported enclosure for the subs. So i need 2 subs that are SVC4 or DVC2. I'm trying to keep this rather cheap but just tell me what subs would work well off about 250 rms each. Of course i prefer spl over sq but dont want the subs to sound ugly. My friend has cvrs and i want mine to sound better than those if possible, but still get loud. Suggestions: ???

hey im having trouble with the rear pair of six and a half memphis mclass coaxials. I keep on blowing the crossovers, and they get crackly on me. The question is what do you guys recomend. I want something for like 200 a pair, and really really loud and clear, and coaxial. Thanks, Steve

Currently I have a 15" Fi SSD in a ported enclosure with almost 4 cu. ft. It is by far an amazing subwoofer hitting very low notes and hitting them hard. Recently however, I bought another 175 x 4 wrms amp and 6.5" component set that I am currently installing. That leaves another two channels that can be filled up with two more speakers, and I'd rather not use it on rear door speakers. My current subwoofer, does not give the desire punch that I want, and I was wondering if I should buy two woofers or mid-bass/mid-range drivers. Will these give me that punch fill that I want in my system, or should I instead go with two 8" subwoofers for punch. Another question is what cre…

So I have a 15" fi Q with a 1500 watt clarion amp in my accord, but im looking to trade in the q for something else. I can not afford a new amp, or any electronics upgrades, so 1500 @ 1 ohm is my max power. Im tired of the q because i have almost no trunk space right now and it makes grocery shopping for 3 or 4 people kind of difficult. Im not sure if it would sound good in a 3^3 ish box but FI says it can be from 2.8-4, but something new is always fun so ill probably switch out. I want to stay as close as possible to as loud as I am now, and want it to sound even from low lows to higher lows...(my 45-60 response is rather weak right now but i think its because its a 4^3 …

I'm going to be doing an install in a freind's 08 Suburban, and he wants a "false floor" built for the rear cargo area. The false floor will house the amplifier (Rockford 25 to life power 1000) and wiring. He wants either a single 12", dual 10", or dual/triple 8" subs, but he wants the false floor to be used as the sub box. He doesn't want to have to deal with a massive sub box in the cargo area. My question is, if the false floor is built 6-8" high, will it be "thick" enough for a proper sub enclosure. I have plenty of space to work with length/width-wise, but the depth is going to be the problem. I guess I'm trying to ask if a shallow box will work ok, as long as I have…

I don't think I will be buying a new sub anytime in the relatively near future but I do want to upgrade eventually. I currently have a 10" type r and I love it but I wouldn't mind something a little louder. I care more about quality than loudness. The problem with my type r is that it can be hard hearing really low notes. I drive a 97 corolla at the moment. I was looking at the fi q but i'm not sure if my electrical system would be able to handle the 1000w rms. Maybe with a capacitor? I don't want anything that will take up all the space in the trunk so i'd like to stick with 1 sub. A 12" sub to go in sealed box is what I should be looking for right? I know a lot of you o…

I just got a single cab 98 ford ranger and plan on doing a build soon with 2 12's or possibly 2 10's. Still need to go out and plan out the box. Before I do that though, I of course need to decide on the subwoofers. So far, my best bet for the money is 2 kicker compvt's. I'm looking for suggestions for a cheaper shallow mount that will still sound good. I've dealt with kicker before, and if I could avoid it for the same amount of money, I'd love to. I want to go low. Hopefully tuning to 34 or so. And if I have to, I'm completely willing to go with one 12. Best bass i've ever had was in the back of my 90 lumina. I had a knock off 15" spl sub in a sealed box. It wasn't that…

Hey guys, I am looking to get some more tweeters, I want a brighter sound than what I am getting now, I would also like to get some that are very smooth. I wanna test both sides of the spectrum. Could someone give me some decend ?brands?? to look into... I also want to replace the 5x7 that are in the rear door and put some 6x9's on the rear deck, Or perhaps 6x9's in the door and some 8" in the rear deck... Anyway could you guys give me some of your thoughts on pretty decent sounding speakers that can handle some power and crank out the volume... Thx

Hi, I'm new to this. I never made a box before, so I'm trying to figure out how to make a ported box. I plan to get a dcon, but want to make sure I have the know how of how to make a box before pulling the trigger. I want to put it in 1.25 cu ft, tuned to 32hz, getting 400watts. What port area (not volume) should I be shooting for? I read somewhere that 8-12 sq in per cubic foot is good, which would put me at 10-15 sq in of port area, but I wasn't sure, so I figured I'd ask people that have personal experience what they recommend for this particular sub. Thanks

I'm new here, and after describing what i was looking for(a cheap priced 18 that could perform) at another forum, i was told about the mj-18. I've been looking and reading for a few hours now and this sub looks like it fits the bill. Slighty more $ per sub than originally planned, but it seems that the extra quality and service more than makes up for it. Here's the plan. I'd like to do 4 mj-18's in my 1st gen 4dr. s10 blazer. I'm loosing the rear seat so i have everything from behind the front seats to play with for space. The subs will see 2000-2300 watts together. I would like to port the box no lower than 30, but no higher than 35. I see that 4.5 is the rec size per su…

So lately one of my friends insists that we "have a concert" every time were in my car because hes never really heard any good speaker setups and mines the best hes heard, but all I have are kicker ssmb6 midbass on ~55 watts and 3.5 coaxials in pods on the a pillars run off the HU. The sound impresses him but if its going to be a concert I want a louder more full sound. I dont know much about what component sets are good and I was hoping for some input as to what I should get, assuming a passive component set will be a decent improvement. SQ isnt the most important thing, I really just want a loud clear full sound. This is going in my honda accord and I only have abou…

Alright... so currently I have a shitty front stage since I was not looking to go "crazy" with the audio... that plan did not stay.. I went from some old school JL audio 10" w3's to a Pioneer Premiere 12" and then to a 12" SSA Icon and now I currently have a 15" SSA Xcon sealed enclosure... so far I love the sound... My front stage consisted of just Alpine 6x9 for a while and then I added some Polk Audio tweets in the dash... Not having alot of options on the EQ side I think I damaged a tweet which is whatever I don't care... I didn't have the right amps to do this setup and that is probably how I did that.. I was using a BA GT2-125 and no separate xover so I know the twe…
