Ok well I thought I was gonna get me a few lvl4 12's to put in my car and do a lower class in NSPL. But I found a pickup that I am thinking about buying and just cutting the hell out of it. So if I get this truck I believe I may do a bit of serious bass racing. So My question is could a lvl5 15/18 take an IA 40.1 daily. I have never been known to care for the one note wonder and never shy enough not to let any one that wanted to take a listen and look around. So I am in search of a sub that can take 3000+ for a good duration. I figure I may as well make a wind tunnel out of it for the fun. I am also looking at a few other subs for the job but I seem to be really dr…

Just wondering, will the M series will still be in production once the IXL series has been filled out? Does anyone have an opinion about this? PS: Can't wait to see what the IXL 15 is like!

Well, finally got the two Mach 5 15's in my 98 F150 ext cab today. They are in 6cuft tuned at 30 hz. First off, the woofers are just plain sexy. So simple, not over the top, and solid. After I got them installed I played a few bass test tracks and couldn't believe how clean they were... Now i've never owned a super expensive sq woofer by anymeans, but these compared to my 12 w3s from a little while back blow them away in the sq department. As for the myth of no sq with ported, throw that out the window with this woofer. It is a litte boomy at some notes, but not enough to distract, just enough to notice if you are looking for it. Now, as for being loud.. they can do that …

pair of Mach 5 12's in 4.5 cuft, tuned to 33hz... in my car, 05 aveo hatchback. TL sensor was placed on the headrest, vehicle sealed up.. http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mach5installcb3.jpg we then tried the 2 loudest frequencies and turned the amp up until they stopped getting louder @ 35hz, the Mach 5's did a 138.2 with 1843 watts @ 40hz, the Mach 5's did a 137.3 with 1050 watts video of them @ 40hz http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/vladd...nt=S5000240.flv very loud woofers for the price... one thing I do need to mention... the coils on these drivers dcr pretty low... 2.3 ohm per coil... I'd call it a nominal dual 2 ohm driver myself.. at the very least a …

I thought I read some where that Mark was going to have a 15" sub available in the future. If this is true, will it be DVC 4 ohm or will it be SVC 4 ohm? Whats the RMS going to be for it?

First off I would like to thank Mark for allowing me to test these at no cost to me. Ok Here it goes. Initial Impression: When I got off of work and walked around to my front door I saw a box that vaguely resembled an extremely used soccer ball. It was brown and taped up and kind of rounded at the corners. I quickly tore into it and got a peek at these things. I can tell you these are built to the highest of quality. No glue on the surrounds, the surround fits perfectly in the sunken surround landing. The bead of glue on the spider was even all the way around. They just looked high quality. Not fancy high quality like a Ferrari, high quality like a cleanly built RX-7 (no…

I am trying to stray my stepfather from going mainstream again and he wants a pair of kicker cvr's which I hear are good subs. But I see that the Maw's are cheaper and heard they sound better any way he is looking to through them in a sealed box as all he really likes is nice rear fill something to give him that nice kick drum in the rear as he listens to a lot of go-go music. Well some of you may be confused as to what is go-go music and the best way I can put it is this way imagine rock n roll with alot of percussions , bass guitars, keyboards, singer, rapper, and they do a lot of covers. So please inform me as to what would be a better setup for him. and will when SS A…

The wife has a pair of Braxton Audio tower speakers in her work out room. These speakers are lacking in low end output and the wife asked if I could add a sub woofer to her system. She uses her system for watching movies, TV, and listening to music. I have a retired pair of 12" Shiva sonotubes that haven't been used since I built my pair of IXL-18's. Long story short, both Shiva tubes have a "clicking" sound when demands are put on them. I modeled the IXL-12 in 3.5 cu.ft., the net volume of the Shiva tube, and it looks good. IXL-12 arrives. Original Shiva sonotubes. IXL-12 and 3.5 cu. ft. tube. Removal of 12" Shiva. Comparison of Shiva and IXL-12. I remember paying $…

Hello, i have been hearing many good things about the MAW subs, but i would like to know how they compare to other subs. I have owned INfinity kappa perfects, Perfect VQ, ED K series(original, and v2), and currently i am running an SS RLP 12. How does the output compare to these and others such as IDQ, or the current ED k series, since those can also run in small boxes for a 15. Also, since the Qts is so small on the MAW 15, can it run in a smaller box than the 2.2 sealed and 3.0 ported with good results?

Well since it's an extra long weekend for me I'd figure that I would do a quick comparison between the two woofers. The box used is my current home theatre box, which is about 8.5 cubes tuned to 18 hertz. The amp being used is a Dayton 1000 watt plate amplifier that does 1000 watts @ 4 ohms. Impressions of both woofers: RE SX18 I've owned the RE for about a year now, and it's made its way from the car to the house. The packaging was nothing more than unimpressive. A single ply cardboard box with 5 pieces of stiff foam keeping it in place. It's about 26 pounds and looks pretty sharp. The basket is pretty much identical to the Mach 5 SPL series (only not milled down). The t…

I brought my decision down to 3 subs...maybe 4 i want 1 15...but was looking at the Mach 5 MAW15's Alpine Type R-15(vented...4cu ft. 30hz) Kicker CVX-15(vented...4cu ft. 30hz) FI SSD-15(vented...4cu ft. 30hz) maybe SSA ICON 15(vented...4cu ft. 30hz) or 2...Maw-15's(sealed...3.5 cu ft.) I want LSQ...i want the lows to be smooth... Often times...budget subs bottom out and have hard bass...not smooth...so wat is everyone's opinion?
