I have noticed over the past few days my SPL15 was starting to rattle. I just pulled it out today and noticed the dust cap is coming loose on one side. Do I need to use any sort of special glue to fix? I was thinking of using some superglue. I also was considering epoxy but it dries too slow. Thanks

Why is it that the IXL 10 and 12 inch subs have 1000 watt power handling ratings but the 15" and 18" are rated at 800 watts??

I started a thread a couple weeks ago but I butchered my questioning so bad that I wasn't able to get the response I was looking for so I'm gonna try again. Anyway, what frequency is the foot pedal of the bass drum typically played at? If possible, I'm wanting my sub to maximize that frequency, as I love the short kicks in the back of my seat, and minimize the other frequencies of the long bass notes that, when played with too much volume, drown out my mids/highs. I have an RL-p12 in 1.35 cu ft sealed w/ a JBL 1200.1 (1200wrms). I'm willing to build a new box if need be. As of right now, I've lowered my LPF on my amp all the way and tried to play w/ my crappy 3 band eq…

So I was bumping my ssd yesterday on my home stereo receiver and I cranked it up a little bit to let the sub move a little bit. I realized it was making noise and immediately turned it down. The noise was like a vibrating slap, its kinda hard to describe. The slap was only audible on certain frequencies. I was probably putting a good 100 or so watts to it and I guess my receiver started clipping it. Will clipping make your sub make a noise? If its not that I was thinking maybe bottoming out? I don't really know whats causing it but I'm hesitant to put it on 800 watts.

I decided to temporarily put in one of my SE12's in at 2ohms on my T3002 in mono mode. Giving it approx. 800 watts. The box is 2 cubes after all displacement. For the port I doulble up a pc of 3/4" MDF and glued a pc of 4" pvc pipe through 1 layer and router a 1/2" radius on the top layer to make a homemade aeroport. The length overall of this port is 13". I don't believe I am right in thinking the tuning is at 32. Can someone double check me on this. Also am thinking about shortening the lenght of the port to get about a 35 hz tuning. This is just a temporary daily box for me to have something till it warms up. But I listen to all kinds of music so I needed some…

I just went to kickers site to look up info on my cousins comps and their entire site has been redone and they have a new sub in their lineup, the solo classic. They claim it to be very musical in small sealed enclosures, and now im really curious if maybe kicker has finally made something halfway worthwhile... anyone know anything about them?

I bought it as a hybrid 15 xbl2 sub a few years ago. It was described as smilar to a brahma mk1.5, But it dosnt look anything like most of the brahma motors ive seen. Im thinking about having it reconed to an 18". But from what ive read the brahmas didnt do well as reconed 18"s. if anyone has any input on what motor this is, and if it would do well as an 18" let me know http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000380rw9.jpg http://img389.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000379kr6.jpg http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000389in5.jpg http://img389.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000391hs1.jpg

So, I had a little whoopsie the other day when my tweet fell off and hit my brand new ID 6.5" woofer, putting a very fine crack in the dustcap. It's only about an inch long, and it's a clean split... you hardly even notice it's there. What would somebody recommend I put on this to keep it from getting worse? It's not a gaping hole or anything it's hair-thin... thanks!

Hello all. My wife bought me a Hifonics BXi 1208 for christmas and i was in the market for a sub to use it with. I don't want to spend more than $250-300 on a sub though. I just want something good for my daily drive to work and back. I listen to mostly hard hitting rap. Another thing... would it be foolish to run my sub at 1 ohm with no upgrades to my electrical? Thanks in advance

Currently I have cheap crappy Duals from best buy and am looking to upgrade. I am looking for SPL, but SQ is very important as well since it's a daily driver. THey have to be able to take a beating and handle extreme weather as well (both cold and hot). In my search I've found a lot and would like some opinions. I've been looking at stuff like the FI BL, RE MX, and Audioque HDC3. Other people have recommended DC audio as well as T3. Basically I'm looking for a quality sub that's not too expensive, that gets VERY loud while still retaining good SQ. It seems like there is a lot of good subs out there. I admit I don't know much about the stuff either, making it more difficul…

How do the Axis 15" stack up to the 15" BTL in terms of SPL running off a SAZ-3000? I never heard any of Audiopulse or any TC Sounds products I'm just curious and I know the BTL beats pretty hard.

Ok, lets dispell some myths about speakers. I figured we could have a small list of the different ways you could "blow" a speaker and have a little technical explanation to go with it. I also want to talked about clipped and unclipped signals and thier effects on a speaker. Ways to blow a driver 1. Degrading of materials This one is plain and simple. Speakers get old. Typically when a speaker gets old the surrounds go first, especially in stock speakers. most surrounds are made of a foam or rubber and time, heat, sunlight (common in dash mounted speakers) cause the materials to degrade, and then when you play them again they fall apart. 2. Thermal Limits of a driver When …
