I was given a pair of Earthquake DBXi-12D subwoofers...I found out when i tried to put them in my friends truck, that they are in fact blown. They are supposed to be 4 ohm DVC, but as you can tell from the pics below the VC's are damaged. My question is would it be worth it to look into a recone? These are the speakers in question. i got to thinking today and was wondering how this would work out.... Lets say you have a driver that is rated at 1000 rms watts, so you give it 1000 rms at 4 ohms and no problems. Now you get an amp that does 1000rms at 1 ohm is it the same to the driver???? I was just wondering if the BL of the sub would come into play or if 1000 is 1000 no matter what. Just wondering how it all would be effected. Thanks, Brock

Hello, I just purchased two DD 1508's and am going to be putting them in my 1987 single cab toyota pick-up. I am short so it allows me to have my seat pretty far forward and I can get quite a bit of room back there. DD suggests that I put them in a ported enclosure and tune it to roughly 38 hz. Has anyone experimented with 8's and know of a better frequency to tune them at? If not I will just go with the 38. Next, I couldn't find an exact xmax on these but after reading around I discovered its about 15mm so on my port calculator it suggests I use roughly a 4" port at 20.5 inches long if I am putting it in a 1 cubic foot box. Hey guys, new to the forum. I never heard kicker until my cous got his 2 12' L5s in a 4 cubed dual vented enclosure (not sure what its tuned at). The subs are on one side and the vents on the other. He runs 500 watts and is loud. His system destroys my dual 12' Type Rs in a 3 cubed enclosure with a 5x5x11 square port tuned to 38hz. His system is the loudest I ever heard and is my standard for loudness I guess.... LOL I basically need louder and have the funds to do it just trying to figure out what I want. I have 4 cubes internal space maybe 4.5 if i'm lucky in my hatch. Would 4 cubes be to small for a pair of 12' L7s? How about a single 12 or 15 in 4 cubed box …

I am thinking of buying an DC level 5 18" Sub but I wanted to know if I had enough power. I have 2 Sundown 1200's so roughly 2400 watts. How would it sound with 2400 watts in a 8 C.F. Box?

For purely academic purposes, imagine a ported enclosure tuned with 2 aeroports. If the aeroports were different lengths...and therefore different tunings, what would the net result to the listener be? Would the box only keep one tuning?...would the tuning freq be "spread out"?...would space/time warp and fold back on itself thereby negating this whole exercise? Thanks

So I got laid off and decided to do a very budget center console sub build for my dodge ram qc. Just looking for opinions, good or bad on the following Phoenix gold rsd memphis pr jbl gt5 alpine type s Also open to suggestions in the $50 - $100/sub range. This is kind of a challenge to see what I can come up with on limited funds, not expecting any miracles. Haven't decided single or multiple sub set up yet, I am sure single would be the popular vote, though not as fun I listen to mostly hip hop, so ported is preferred, but not that big of a deal. hello all, I am redoing my install and decided why the heck not try going ported while I am at it. Just not sure if I have enough room to. So what is the smallest suggested cuft for a Mag 15 ported? the new version that is. also, reccomended tuning as well. I am not going for all out spl. I am a huge sq guy that just wants to go ported and try it out. So I still wanna keep as much SQ as possible with a ported box. thanks in advance. and if there is anyone that is real good at doing box plans please let me know.

Well after running my 15" mag for a while I noticed recently that it seemed like it was running out of juice when I'd turn it up. It was like it wanted to get louder but couldn't. My lights at night seemed to dim really bad. Then a few days ago I go to turn my car on and the battery is almost completely dead and the engine won't turn over. I didn't leave any electrical on overnight. I got a jump and the battery seemed to work to start the car two more times that day but I left my stereo off so there was no strain on the electrical system. Hello gents, So all these years I've been a sealed enclosure type of guy. I listen to bands with lots of double kick and I enjoy it being deadly accurate.. However, I did hear a ported 12" this week that has me rethinking some things. The guy played me Megadeth's "Rust in Peace" (remastered) album and the sub seemed to do pretty well keeping up with the double kick. However, how would the transient response be for even quicker metal bands? (i.e. Divine Heresy, Wintersun, Nile, etc..) Would it stay somewhat accurate? or would it turn into a more muddled response? Or... is it dependent on the frequencies of that particular kick drum(s) and/or be dependent on the band/m…

And look what`s in the Vectras Boot On the left a Hawker Odessey PC2150 An Incriminator Audio 20.1 sort of in the middle. And don`t forget the 12" version of the 15" Stereo Integrity magnums I have in the Escort. The box is 2.5 Cu.Ft. before sub & port displacement and is tuned to 28Hz. I`ve still got to neaten a few things up. Hey, I got a Free P3 from a freind, only problem is that a chunk of the foam surround was missing. I know it can be replaced, but I don't know where I could get the foam, or where I could take it to get it done. I think it'd be a good project to learn how to do it, but I wanna take it to someplace to get it fixed. How much would it cost to get it fixed, and How much would it cost to fix it myself? I have a 4 channel amplifier, that's 2ohm stable when bridged. It gives out 4x140 @ 4 ohm and 2 x 360W @ 4 ohm. I'm going to use his amplifier to run a front stage and a small subwoofer in the rear. Is it possible to use one 4 ohm DVC subwoofer and connect each coil to their own speaker terminal? Would the result be the same if I just bridged two of amplifier termials and wired the subwoofer to 8 ohm?

Am currently decideing between getting a 15" Incriminator Audio Death Row (with the correct gain setting and knob control) or a 15" RD Audio Heavyweight (SQ model). I have 2000 ~2200 watts of rms to play with and planning to use a 4 cu.ft enclosure tuned to about 28~32 Hz seeing that the enclosure size is within both woofer's specs. Here it goes... At work, we have a Definitive Supercube subwoofer (awesome little things) that has been having problems. It powers up but will have little to no output. That's beside the point. I took it apart and checked the coil to see if it was open. I took my meter and it measured just under 30 ohms. We talked to the Definitive rep and he said that was right. My question is, what advantages are there to using a high impedance speaker like this? Keep the impedance spike higher in the FR range so the true sub bass isn't affected? I also figured that the plate amp would have to be designed to match the speaker also so parts cannot be properly swapped out. Just a …
