  2. so i was looking at onlinecarstereo and i have always wanted to try some Kappa's, perferably Kappa Perfects, but i can't afford that at all right now, i just need to upgrade what i have, which is garbage. i just bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the chick before me had a "system" in it. my coworker that knew her said it was a pair of some MTX's, he thinks 9500's. (she was some little druggie/dealer and was all drug money rich) anyways she completely blew the car stock speakers (some Infinity Gold speakers). before blown i'm sure they woulda been sweet. and i coulda tuned it fine. but they are blown to hell and i need new ones. basically, what do you recommend, i have aro…

Hello guys, well its been awhile since ive been in here. Im kinda outta touch with what new and whats good. So right now I have 1 15" Fi BL on a Sundown Saz1200.. i think its a SAZ, ill double check when i get home. I love this sub its great! since Im good with my sub, its time for me to move on to my door and dash speakers. My motto is I want good quality products, I dont really care about looks, plus they wont be seen anyway. I remember years ago when I got my BL asking about Sundown and people saying that they didnt put their money in looks they put it in the product. well thats what im looking for with my speakers. Im looking for the best bang for my buck, its not all…

Just thought I'd mention a new kid on the block for home audio loudspeakers and projects. Mike, another DIYer who likes to do things himself decided to take things public and help spread the (free) word about how much better we can make our systems sound. Take a moment out to check his site - http://speakerhobby.com/index.htm He has a forum as well where you guys can share speaker projects of any design using any brand. Cool stuff! Best, Mark

I listened to this baby a little bit this weekend, power from a sundown 1500d with gains set conservatively. It was in a .7 cube sealed box. My music ranged from the lighthearted banjo strings of folk music, the hardcore double bass drums of linkin park and disturbed. I also through in some lil jon to test the low end extension. Notes: With the folk music the sub stage blended nicely with the banjo strings in the front stage. It sounded very nice on this music. It very accurately reproduced anything it was asked to. With the rock music i listened to, my favorite for daily listening personally, the bm suprised me with its output on this music. It was not muddled at all unl…

so, I went to my local car audio shop and was getting a box built for my maw-15's that would fit in the trunk of my '06 Pontiac G6. And obviously thats going to be impossible trying to build a box to the rec. specs for the maw-15's. Anyway. He then turned me on to alternative route. Groundpounders from Crunch Audio. Now I will probably keep my Maw's in my Taurus, but for the G6 I was intrigued with the things he told me. The Subs look quite stout. So I was considering going with a 2x 12" GP12D2 setup or a 3x GP10D2 setup. Not sure what would be better. Or if thats even good at all. Im currently in college so money is tight. but with the $65 pricetag at onlinecarstereo.com…

SO I just got a new amp ( Cadence DCA 2500.1) and Im going to move on from my Memphis M3 10s, mainly because I blew one of them but I want something louder deeper etc... I have a ford Explorer sport trac so that gives you an idea of the kind of vehicle. I want what ever I get to be extremely loud, but of course I want some quality sound in there. I designed a 6 cuft net for the Qs with 1.2 cuft of port area tuned to 30 hz. Or for the BTL 5 cuft net tuned to 36 hz. I seriously cant decide. But if you rec. other subs, the gross cuft of the box really cant go over 8cuft due to space issues ( I would lose 2 seats instead of just one). Any suggestions would be greatly appreci…

So, i deciding between the Audioque HDC312's or the Fi BL 12's I want this reaction coming from my high school classmates who think there Dual 12" prefab piece of shits are loud Both will be powered accordingly by Sundown or Audioque and box will be built to specifications. Other Subs are welcome Not going over $300 for a 12 This is in a trailblazer

what the main diffences and how do u go about both an active and passive system. which is more effective? which is more expensive? im runing polk db 5.25s in the door and db1000 tweets in the sails. i was thinking about amping them and runing new mids because with the tweeters on the coaxils and the extra tweets in the sails it gets alittle to bright. also i have a lack of midrange to mid bass. sould i just amp them and see how it sounds or replace them with a new pair.... i heard aa is putin out some new mids but what would u all suggest.

Well lads I went to strip a friends walled install on Saturday as he want it rebuilt. It was installed by a "professional" installer over here in Ireland. Now the problem lies with the SoloX 18 Kicker sub he had. Its the first generation Sub made by kicker, when being installed the installer dropped a hammer through the original dual 1 cone, so it had to be replaced. since the sub is in the car it has been smelly, like Kicker is, so the installer said he would replace the cone. Now on stripping the car I seen the Spagetti of wiring, will get pics of this off the owner tonight hopefully to show you, but basically one run of 0, stepped down to 4 gauge, into a distro block t…

  20. Look at those lovely 17" Rims Sold on my other ones & got these instead. Front Wheel. Rear Wheel. And look what`s in the Vectras Boot On the left a Hawker Odessey PC2150 An Incriminator Audio 20.1 sort of in the middle. And don`t forget the 12" version of the 15" Stereo Integrity magnums I have in the Escort. The box is 2.5 Cu.Ft. before sub & port displacement and is tuned to 28Hz. I`ve still got to neaten a few things up. But the whole lot is not fitted permanently, everything is wedged in place as this stuff only gets fitted before it attends sounds offs etc - it takes literally minutes to fit or remove everything. It`s Nice & Loud & drops a …

  21. Last year I traded locally with this guy for a 12w4. The sub is in my 2006 Chevy single cab truck. Box is roughly 2 cubic feet slot ported tuned at 32hz. The sub sounds perfect for the enclosure. Very very good and accurate sound. My only problem is that it's being pushed by a RF Amp with a birth sheet of 926 rms watts. Definite overkill for the sub. So I've turned it way down. Even at that, if I crank it at the deck and certain frequencies the sub sounds like it's being crunched. So I've thought about swapping the sub for a higher wattage subs. A JL W 6 looks to be to deep for the setup. So I checked around and it appears Kicker makes the CVX with very simila…

I know you are not suppose to take efficiency into consideration but what if you were comparing 2 different subs from the same company? I had been thinkin about goin with 4 Lvl4 15s and they have an efficiency rating of 89.4 The Lvl4 XL 18s have an efficiency rating of 94.77?!?! So... 4 15s efficiency should be 95.4 and 2 of the 18s should be 97.77... am i to assume that the 2 18" XLs are gonna kill the 4 15s? I know 4 15s may have more surface area but efficiency plays a role in that and apparently, it doesnt apply here. Lookin for some crazy numbers in the lanes and just wonderin if i'm bout to buy the wrong thing...

I have been running my IA Death Row 12 for about 4 months now. It is in a 2.1 cu ft box tuned to about 30 hz. I like how it sounds and like its output. I recently took a trip home (7 hrs) with my car loaded and thought what if I had to change a tire. I wouldn't be able to get my spare out without taking the box out. My backseat was also full of stuff and would have had to set the box out in the snow. I have been thinking about running two tens that work really well in small boxes. I have heard the Dayton subs and really like how they sound. Very clean and detailed bass. My only thing is that I do not want to lose much output by removing my Death Row for something…
