I finally got myself a better sub, a RE Sx12. I have the recommended box sizes from RE, but I decided to play with WinISD a little and noticed some big disparities. RE recommends 1.5 cubes at 33hz for a compact box, but WinISD seems to want a 0.75 cube box with some crazy port lengths. Am I doing something wrong, or is WinISD just weird? I followed WinISD's instructions and the parameters it calculated seem to match up with what RE has provided. RE also suggests a 2.0 cube box at 35 hz... Can anyone point me to an info page that spells out what effect ported box sizes have on output? I'm expecting to have to build a few different boxes to get things perfect, but how bet…

Okay so i got a new car and I dont have enough room for the maw-15's anymore. And from what I seen on the mach 5 website the ixl subs are susbstantialy more powerful than the maw series. I have a '06 pontiac g6 and I'm looking to get a pair of one of the ixl's. im looking to go as big as i can and get away with it in my given trunk space. The 10's look extremely good for the price and power. Would a pair of those out-do my maw-15's?

Whats involved with making a component set? Somebody told me I could find the parts I'd need on Parts Express... If somebody could explain the crossover would help me. I don't understand which I'd need.

So I was looking into the focal k2p comps for my front stage. Pros? cons? likes and dislikes?

I am needing to get the specs on th is sub. Unfortunately, I do not have much information about it. I know it is several years old and never been used. here are the pics i have of it. It also has a sticker on the side of it that says XS01048. I cannot find this particular sub on their list of subs on their website. I posted something similar to this a few years back and got nothing but off topic responses. I would really like to find out any info on this sub you guys might know. if i remember right theses mids were designed more for IB than anything, like being used in the door rather than in a small kick panel? i had them for about a year till i recently got some hsk's. but anyway, mine are sitting around so im making some book shelf or small towers out of them for my friends new place. how big of an enclosure would suite it? or i could just port it then tune somewhere above the fs of the mid. if ported whats a general tuning? never built ported book shelfs so whats the deal?

I have a JBL 1200.1db amplifier and have been looking for subs to push with it. Should I get 1 12" FI Q sub? if so, any advice where I could look to get the best deal on one? or two....wouldn't think the amp could push two....

Those who have heard the Hybrid Audio Clarus C61-2, how did they sound? Im referring to tonality, frequency extension (both high and low), general sound characteristics? I have read the review in CA&E and just looking for more personal opinions. It would be great if they could be compared against popular components like Dynaudio, Morel, Rainbow, Hertz, Focal, etc. Thanks ahead for any input

I am figuring on buying 2 15" Q. I am debating whether i should get the 1500zx kicker amp or the PA 4000 amp. I also need to know whether i will need a new alternator if i already have an upgraded battery and a 4.0 FARAD capacitor. I want the system to be loud, and not have to worry about blowing the speaker. Also should i get the 2 15"s 1 ohm or 2ohm if im going to be using one amp. Thanks

I'm trying to decide between a pair of 12s for sealed operation. As most of you know I had an Icon 15. My girlfriend just got a new Nissan Murano and I gave it to her to start her system with. The 15 was just taking up too much space in my trunk not to mention I've been missing having a sealed setup. I have always favored sealed setups with a pair of 12s and need help deciding between these pairs. BTW, I may also hook her up with my amp in favor of picking up a new SAE-1000D. 2 Audiopulse Epic 12s 2 Mach5Audio IXL-12s 2 JL Audio W6v2 12s

New here and looking for opinoins. I was running 2 ME12's sealed at 1.25 on a saz-1500d in my extended cab Dakota, I'm now driving a GTI and plan to make some upgrades. I'm looking for more low end output, not nesicerially more output over all. I need to stay in the 4cf net area with good SQ, why I typically run sealed. So I'm looking at cone area. 2 15's are the winner in cone area by about 1 10's worth of cone, on the other hand I can get a real good deal on the 4 10's, about $200 less and have the same if not more power handling ability if I need it. So is that extra cone area gonna just kill the 10's? I can be about .8cf over the recomended size on hte 10's but righ…

Correct me if I'm wrong, is it true that the more X-Max a sub has the louder it'll get sealed? If so, has anyone tried the FI Q series subs sealed yet? 27mm sounds like a really good amount of excursion. Was wondering because a friend of mine is considering a pair of them sealed with a 2000 - 2500 watt amp and he prefers sealed setups and wants a loud sealed setup with good SQ.

ok, currently i have an old Orion H2. great sub, but its starting to make popping noises, i don't have a warranty, and i'd rather just buy a new sub than try to fix it. so right now im looking at the 18" Fi BL. anybody have any experience with the BL compared to the Q? any significant difference in SQ or SPL? it will be in a 6-6.5 cu. ft ported with 1200 watts...any decibel estimates? or does anybody have any idea what Fi's new line will be? new to this forum, thanks for any help -Chris

A friend of mine is trying to decide between a pair of Treo TSX 12s sealed or 2 JL Audio W3v3 13.5s sealed. He can get JL and Treo subs are very good prices. Either set will be powered off 700 watts. Which would get louder with that power sealed?

I have a RF 1000-1BD, and I would like to buy an MJ 18, but my amp will do like 550 @ 4. 900 ish @ 2 and 1300 @ 1. So I need a dual two or dual four. No possibility? No, getting it and reconeing and using different coils is not an options.

As I was cleaning the garage I found an old pair of MTX ThunderCast 15's. Wondering if any of the manufacturers could recone these? 3" Voice coil 4 spoke cast basket 110 oz motor 6 bolt pattern for motor to basket Took both apart to find out one had a shifted top plate causing the coil to pinch and the other had a scratchy coil due to dirt and debris in the gap along with ripped surround. Are these even worth the time to recone? Just looking for options. Thx Curt

Tuned low... might do it for home setup, or see if I could have a smaller box designed for my buddys jeep and use those, so he could put his back seat in and drag around his friends.

How will a Fi BL 15 Fully Loaded sound on 1100 watts rms @ 2 ohm? I have an alpine type r 15 running on that amp im getting the fi tomorrow Im just curious how it will sound and how much better than the type r thanks Billy
