Just thought I'd mention a new kid on the block for home audio loudspeakers and projects. Mike, another DIYer who likes to do things himself decided to take things public and help spread the (free) word about how much better we can make our systems sound. Take a moment out to check his site - http://speakerhobby.com/index.htm He has a forum as well where you guys can share speaker projects of any design using any brand. Cool stuff! Best, Mark

  2. I am new to the forum and figured i would start out with a bang. So, i was up late on saturday watching th laker game when i got an itch to get off of my lazy butt and upgrade my wiring so i can install my brutus 1500 and my mag 12. the game finally got over about 1:30am and my girl was asleep. so i am in my garage , 2:30am rolls around and i hear feet shuffling outside my garage door. i stop what i am doing and dont hear anything else. again i hear feet shuffling and this time i hear whispers. i decide to investigate. i put my ear against the door and to my extreme surprise i can hear people talkng about how to best get into MY GARAGE!!!! just then they tried to open th…

I'm looking for 6x8s to run off the factory head unit in my 2012 Escape XLT. Factory stereo, no nav, no sync. I read on another site that the Infinity Kappa speakers sound better than stock ones off of head unit power. To me the stock speakers sound good, but I'd like it louder and to have better bass response. I found the Kappas for 75$ a pair shipped, so 150$ for all four. So I'm looking for anything better than those within the same price range, or a confirmation of those being good. Could also run comps, if they could sound good of the hu. And on a side note, anyone know the output power of that hu? I'm guessing under 20 watts.

After slowly coming to a point in my life where I realize that dreams don't come with money to support them, I decided to stray from my initial craving for the Wardens and go for something i can afford before i'm 40. The plan consists of (2) MJ18M woofers tuned around 26 to 28 hz. The goal is Spl, but not at the expense of the low lows. I listen to alot of chopped & screwed music and like that ability to hear every note. The front stage is most likely going to be a SAX-100.4 on some Focal comps. I recently got a hookup for some decent deadener; almost free actually. i will do two runs of 0/1 for positive and the same for ground. Looking at a powermaster for up front a…

Im new to this forum this is my first post, i am very excited to order a Dcon 15. I have heard awesome things about the 10s, and good things about the 12s. but i havent heard much about the 15, i like SQ and am looking for something really clean and smooth but will go low. I listen to rap, dubstep, and some rock, and most other electronic. But will a Dcon 15 hit as low as my songs play?

I am figuring on buying 2 15" Q. I am debating whether i should get the 1500zx kicker amp or the PA 4000 amp. I also need to know whether i will need a new alternator if i already have an upgraded battery and a 4.0 FARAD capacitor. I want the system to be loud, and not have to worry about blowing the speaker. Also should i get the 2 15"s 1 ohm or 2ohm if im going to be using one amp. Thanks

i currently am running a 15" fi bl on a saz-1000d in a ported box facing up in a trunk. i was looking into getting either a single 10 or 12 or maybe 2 10's to replace the 15 and still run the saz-1000d so i can face the subs toward the rear and free up some trunk space since my current box pretty much uses up the whole trunk in my grand prix. all sugestions are welcome i dont really have a set budget just want something matched with my amp and was wondering what you all feel might be the best fit.

I listened to this baby a little bit this weekend, power from a sundown 1500d with gains set conservatively. It was in a .7 cube sealed box. My music ranged from the lighthearted banjo strings of folk music, the hardcore double bass drums of linkin park and disturbed. I also through in some lil jon to test the low end extension. Notes: With the folk music the sub stage blended nicely with the banjo strings in the front stage. It sounded very nice on this music. It very accurately reproduced anything it was asked to. With the rock music i listened to, my favorite for daily listening personally, the bm suprised me with its output on this music. It was not muddled at all unl…

OK so I'm not really sure what details and what not someone would need to do this. I'm wanting to upgrade and have been told by numerous people that modeling is my best option to make my best decision on new sub's/ and or enclosure etc. I don't have internet access other than my phone so downloading modeling software is not an option I need help! I'll give the basics of what I have if more details are needed I will provide assuming there is a kind hearted person who will help me out here. 2004 Pontiac grand am Alpine mrx m240 wired at 4 ohms - 1500 watt which is capable of doing 2400 at 2 ohms. I know most of you guys over here are all for SI and SS and it doesn't seem like you get much talk over here about RE. Well my question involves RE, and I'd appriciate some input... I drive a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. I was going to pick up a set of 12" RE SEs and port them at 33 Hz. I was going to use the following box deminsions: 36" length 13.5" height 23.5" depth Well today I measured and made some what of a template to see how big the box would be in my Explorer. Everything is fine except I don't want it so deep. I've talked with a few guys from RE or who know alot about them and they said I couldn't really make it any smaller. Is that true? Or Should I go with a singl…

i have a single Powerbase XS 15 coming and want to make a box for it but have no idea where to start. It will powered by an XTR Pro 2400 going in the trunk of an 02 Grand Prix. on the site it says for 4.5 cu. ft. internal, and a slot port of 36 sq. in. x 15" long. Does that 4.5 cube internal space include the port area, or do you have to figure that in too? That is for the recommended tuning of 34 hz. Also, would it be benefical at all for to tune a little lower, i was thinking maybe 31-32ish, i wanted it be able to play low also... It will be for daily driving, no comps at all, i just want it to sound good and get pretty loud also. Thanks, any help is appreciated. If an…
