Hey everyone, I'm planning on starting my build on my wife's car throughout the summer and want to build a SQ system in her car. This is what I have to work with. I'm skilled in carpentry and know a bit a bout fiberglassing. I'll try and post some pics later to get a visual about the build. FRONT 3-4" front speakers deep into the windshiled (you know the kind) 6.5" door pod openings There is room for a tweet mount above the 6.5". Rear Door 6.5" door pod opening. I could also find a stealthy place for a tweet here also. Rear Deck 6x9" opening I was thinking of installing AA POLY's in the 6.5 openings in the front and rear doors. As far a tweeters, I'm open to suggestions. …

OK... Currently I'm running a pair of PPI DCX 12, they've been good to me, I enjoy them, but they don't have a lot of excursion & it seams like they bottom out on me at times... Lately I've been thinking about getting a RE XXX, either a 12 or 15... What would you do?

A friend of mine is trying to decide between a pair of Treo TSX 12s sealed or 2 JL Audio W3v3 13.5s sealed. He can get JL and Treo subs are very good prices. Either set will be powered off 700 watts. Which would get louder with that power sealed?

Time to upgrade! Right now i have Infinity Reference coaxials, and they were good for first speakers, but the longer i owned them, more i realized that they suck. I have 6.5s up front and 6x9s in the back. I'm not planning on buying new 6x9s cause i haven't read one post that is for buying them, or even having them for that matter. I also have a SDC2.5 12" sub and an AQ1200D amp. i have around $200 to spend and have list of component sets that i think look good......but I've only heard the Focal set, and i was very impressed! Definitely feel free to add speakers to the list. I want SQ comps, don't really care if they get loud.....as long as they sound good! JL Audio VR…

Hey guys i'm looking for a set of components. With the $500 im playin around with, I figure I can buy a new sub amp, probobally a viper 1200.1 for my subs. I will use my 300 wRMS x2 amp to power some components, which seems like a lot but i think I could get by with gains set low. do u guys think thats safe? anyway my budget for comps is less than $200. I will be installing the mids in my doors, imaging isnt a major concern for me, and I cant build kicks anyway. I'm pretty sure I will do some sound deadening, so I need comps that will do well infinite baffle. midbass is pretty important to me, and I can't stand harsh-sounding tweets, so I guess that means a silk tweeter i…

  6. Hi all, I am looking for any information possible regarding a setup for my vw golf. I am looking to replace front indoor speakers and add some new ones to the rear doors (if suggested of course). I am also looking for a subwoofer to place in a box in the boot, one or two depending again on suggestions. I have no real experience with them in any way so any information is really appreciated. I have no experience of what amplifiers would be needed either or how to wire a system up. The music i am aiming my setup at will be mainly rock and metal but could quite easily include most genres, i am going for a quality of sound rather than something just to make a thud or loud nois…

Right now I have 2 dcon 12s in a sealed box. 1.25 cubes each and they sound ok, but to me they lack the output I like. My girlfriend likes them, so I'm going to give the the box to her when she get's her vehicle which is soon. I orginally intended on putting them in a ported box, 4 cubes tuned to 33hz and even had the box built, but it didn't fit and yes I'm kicking myself in the ass for my miscalculation but it's a beautiful box made by Trev of Pound That Sound and I know it'll eventually sell. I'm strongly considering a pair of 10s in a nice ported box. I have a RF T500-1bd to power a pair. I have never tried a pair of 10s before. I'm pretty sure 3 10s is louder …

Hey guys here's the plan. Don't worry about box size, trunk in the cad is huge. I want to run 2 or 4 subs, 15s or 12s. Power isn't a concern, I've got tons of Helix B Ones in the shop to use. What are some cheap subs to run to get as much as I can on music for daily and customer demo. I'm talking cheap. I've got 2 Hifonics HFI12d4's around the shop and they're available but don't know if I'm going to use them. Budget is $200 MAX, the cheaper the better.

SO I just got a new amp ( Cadence DCA 2500.1) and Im going to move on from my Memphis M3 10s, mainly because I blew one of them but I want something louder deeper etc... I have a ford Explorer sport trac so that gives you an idea of the kind of vehicle. I want what ever I get to be extremely loud, but of course I want some quality sound in there. I designed a 6 cuft net for the Qs with 1.2 cuft of port area tuned to 30 hz. Or for the BTL 5 cuft net tuned to 36 hz. I seriously cant decide. But if you rec. other subs, the gross cuft of the box really cant go over 8cuft due to space issues ( I would lose 2 seats instead of just one). Any suggestions would be greatly appreci…

I plan on getting a SI Mag D2 15 in the near future and I'm wondering what kind of box I can make to get the best of it. The limits of the trunk of my car are 16" high, 16" deep, and 36" long, or about a total of 4.2 cubes max internal volume. Would it make more sense to go for a large (~3 cubes) sealed enclosure (Decware Wedge style) or a amaller (~3 cubes after displacement and port) ported enclosure? Quality of sound is the most important factor, but I'd prefer lots and lots of that quality sound. The more headroom I can get, the happier I'll be. It will be powered by an Orion 1200D. It will replace two IA LI 12s sharing ~3.2 cubes at 32hz.

Trying to post a design I drew up. Dont worry it is not stick figures. I want to get your opinions on this box and amp rack. If anyone could allow me to send it to them through email and then post it I would appreciate it. I tried to use the "image" option and it did not work.

All this hustling & bustling with enclosures, has ne1 tried a free-air install with the Mags?At one time I tried it with a eD12O,it sounded OK but it didnt have enuff output for my taste.Maybe 2-12's would've done it, anyhow I think I read that some of u are going free-air,I would definitely like to hear ur input.NO Nick,I'm not plugging my Mag into a wall socket nor am I doing any free-air test tones(LOL),just wanna know how they would do in this type of setup. So with that said lets get out the MDF and start cutting out those baffles! :boink:

I had a 12" Fi BTL off a 2500D Soundstream Rubicon in my previous car. It sounded great, but got used to that. Now looking to upgrade. Did a cardboard mock-up in my new car (2005 Civic) and trying to decide what subs to go with. I'm looking for a lot of air movement, hitting deep, and sounding clean. Was thinking 2 x Fi Q 15's. What do you think? Would like to keep total power of both subs combined under 2000RMS. Dimensions, minus the angle..Looks to be about 3.5cuft per sub after displacement. Quick question, when I move the port to the middle would I have 14" of length on each side or 7" on each side per sub? Layout will be like this, common chamber.

  22. does anyone out there by chance have a file made for WinISD pro alpha? for 15 inch magnum. i had it but lost in durring reformatting (yeah i used to be a computer nerd hehe) but now when i try to make one with the updated alpha pro it says stuff is missing and i need more specs. but on the bright side, it seems the updated pro alpha might be more accurate with magnums? i know lots of stuff looked really crummy on paper wth it in the old pro alpha, but modeling up a 12incher ported in there (yes i kept 12 inch files) it had a better F3 than the ported 15s from the old version.

im wanting to use one of my maw-15s in a ht application. I figured that the bash-300 off mach5's website would power it quite well and be very nice in a 2cuft stuffed box. however there is no way for me to run the maw at 4ohms is there? its only 2 and 8 with dvc?

  25. As the topic says iv decided to build a ported box for my mag 15". The output on the sealed just was lacking / geting traped in the trunk. Iv seen people useing 3.5 tuned to 27 4 tuned to 34 etc and loving it. What exactly is the advantages to straying from the recomend build? And wwhat size would you recomend? If size is not an issue.
