i want a system that is crazy loud with great frequency range. i like hearing the jumps and drops from one frequency sweep to the next in my songs. i had a sub @44hz that i loved but it was not loud enough and had no low end (44hz, no low end? go figure). so i bought a new one and tuned to 35 and now i have no high end. so my thought was this. what about building a wall, dual ported subs with one tuned to 32hz and the second at 40 or 45hz. installing xovers and subsoncs to prevent the 2 subs from over laping one another. would this work or should i just build a sealed box and be done with it? i was thinking 2 SP4 18's

I am dying to buy these lil' monsters , i have a large trunk (chrysler 300) and am wanting an optimal vented box for these bad boys, can a pro or guru chime in and offer any suggestions or tuning freq. suggestions,an box size, i plan on running probably a sundown 1000D amp @ 1 ohm mono so the 2 8's will split 1k rms, im looking for a box to really make these subs sing yet still play music, not just pure spl, thanks in advance

First, let me just say that I don’t know much about car audio. 95% of people on here would put me to shame so forgive me if what I’m asking is impossible. But I do know a fair bit about audio in general since I do a little mixing music on the side. So here’s what I’ve been recently thinking about… I have a system, with ONE 12” Eclipse Titanium in a ported box tuned to about 30hz. My sub hits the lows real good up until around 60hz, but doesn’t pick up anything above that. Check this link to hear what my system picks up (it’s a clip of a song that I filtered the music out of and just left the bass that my sub picks up…you may not be able to hear it on your computer speaker…

Title explains it just wanted to run it by some people on here. Wanted to keep it pretty simple and not overly expensive. Going with a an alpine 9887 headunit running active. Sundown 100.4 amp, Sea CA18RNX mids, and Seas 27TFFNC/G tweeters. Crossing tweets at around 2.5k and mids around low 2k. Question that i just want to make sure is can the CA18RNX mids run up to the 2k range?

Ok so here Im going to get Image dynamics XS-65 which consists of a 6.5inch woofer and a tweeter. Thats 2 way right? So if I plan on using it together with my 12inch subwoofer, would that make my setup a 3 way? I just read that for a "true" 3 way, you need a tweeter, a midrange (3 inch) and a woofer (5-6inch). So I was wrong the whole time? Then if you add a subwoofer, you actually have a 4-way system Also, from what I read is that what Im actually going to have (with the xs-65 components and my 12inch sub) is called a 2 way crossover + subwoofer and NOT 3 way? So this confuses me even more because.... if you get a 3 way component set, then how do you run them active? A .…

I blew the tweets on my DLS components and its time for an upgrade. I just got the H701/C701 installed recently so now I have full control of crossovers, slopes, etc... However, I can't go 3 way because of budget constraints and the constraint of me not wanting to do fiberglass work in 100*+ weather. So what I'm looking for is a killer 2 way setup with a 6.5"+ speaker and a tweet (can do large format). Initial budget is/was $300 but it is flexible. As far as prior experience I have heard TMax's CA18 and LPG tweet (I think that's it) and love the mid. So I am considering a variation of that woofer. As far as tweets I haven't been impressed by really any since my first set …

Alright I would like to ask all of you by experience what do you think about the comparison? I have 2 12w7's running off a 1000/1 soon to buy another 1000/1. What do you think, I know that the btl subs have high spl but chit on sq. Say that both systems have 2000 watts of clean power running to them which one would have a more db's.

  9. For a fixed budget, aught I go 2- or 3-way? I was thinking that by going 3-way rather than 2-way you might be able to get a better overall balance between the differnt areas of the bandwith? Or would I be better off, just going with as good a 2-way system that I can for the same money? And for this front system (6,5" mid-basses), someone said that a 15" sub would be too large to integrate with just a pair of 6,5" mid-bass drivers. I have a WV Passat Variant (station wagon). I would have presumed that the integration was the key, rather than the size of the sub, I've seen that before, once, but I'd like some more opinions on the issue before I take a descision.

Would it sound better to have 1 $300 sub or 2 $150 subs ( 12" powered by 1 950Wrms amp)? Or maybe 2 $150 subs powered by 2 650Wrms amps?

im looking to change my setup. if i go the bl route, my box cuft will be 5-5.4cuft total including port area. if i go btl route, the box will be about the same total. they will be powered by a zx2500 which in the birth certificate says 2700 (if that matters) now i want to know which will be louder. this will be for daily use in my dodge charger. i currently have 2-15" L7's sealed in a 4.2cuft box and it pounds, but i just want to change it up. plus, i have a feeling that i can get louder than it if i go the FI route. thanx im also open to other suggestions.

I've briefly heard a pair of JL 10W6 in a ported enclosure powered by a jl 1000/1, i liked there sound from what i heard, but i would like more output and possibly more low end bass. My budget is ~$500 for sub(s) and box Sub(s) will be going in my ext cab Silverado, under the rear seat lifted 2". I listen to basically everything, from rap to country. About 70% rap/hip-hop and 30% everything else. My goals are to have a nice sounding setup, with a good amount of output. I'm not looking for amazing SQ, but I don't want a one note wonder either. I've been thinking about going with a single 12, maybe a couple of 10s, or even a few 8s. Whatever I choose will be ran off of my S…

Well I was talking to the guys in the hop and wondering what would be a wonderful 2-way active setup. If I get this 4 channel JBL GTO75.4 to go with my jbl 1100.1 that is. If you don't know, the ratings are here http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/JBL_GTO75.4/ Now, budget is the next question. If everything goes to plan meaning if I sell both my passive comp sets and throw in some money I'll have around 370 or 420 for new speakers. Sean brings a good point though, does this include dampening? Well, I already have a layer(and some spots 2 layers) on both outer parts of the metal. The inside only has a little bit, it could probably use more honestly. My back wall has…

I bought a pair of 3-way 6x9s (pioneer, not the best, but definately better than the stock 99 dodge stereo), and was thinking about adding another pair under the backseat after i get my sub. Would it hurt to get 2-ways (would it sound bad mixed with the 3-ways). I dont see any reason not to, but maybe im missing something.

So, what's the general opinion on the best sealed enclosure size for a 15" D2? Seems like a lot of people prefer 2.4cf? Also, is that before or after sub displacement, and what is the displacement of a 15" D2? Also, does polyfill do anything besides making the sub think the enclosure is larger? If that's all it does, why not just build the enclosure larger in the first place? Basically all this is the long way of asking, how big should my enclosure be??? Thanks~

I seen these speakers, and thought to my self what a way to get your image up and a fuller sound out of your Front stage with a good active set up. http://www.woofersetc.com/p5352/ES02--CDT-...vers-(Pair).htm They are a 2" tweeteresk mid range speaker with a freq range down to 500 hrz up to 20k. For someone wanting a 2 way active setup these might be ideal. get your image up, get your sound stage up and alittle more flexible as far as A pillar placement with out have a crazy install. I just wondered if anyone had heard, used or even seen a set of these used before. I wonder how practical and what kind of sound do they really produce. For somone in my situation where…

im thinking of getting 2 mag 2d 15's for my van I want SQ mostly listen to metal and rock so kick drum and bass guitar is important. size doesnt matter got most of the back of my hiace to fill up. so what size enclosure, ported/sealed, tuning, power ect. and maybe any nice amps you guys know of. I was thinking of getting 4, what you guys think of that? a waste of time? just thinking that if sealed is better for SQ then just get more subs for more spl. money isnt an issue. not buying right now but gota plan and see how much i need to save. and if you wouldnt mind could you explain tuning an enclosure for me i dont have a clue about it. thanks.

Would this be too much? For daily driving type of stuff? Someone said the Memphis Belle will bridge to about 200 watts each for the front. I am considering buying one of these if this won't be too much for the 302's. Anyone got some suggestions?

  25. Hi. I havn't been on here in a while. I just gt my system all hooked up and everything sounds good. I just had one more question; What kind of speakser would fit my front door speakers for a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT? I would like Kicker front speakers with built in tweeters, but I am not sure as to what size would fit my car. If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
