I was thinking of taking the subwoofer out of my room and putting it in my truck(temporarily) until I buy my stuff I want. It has an RCA' and positve and negative wire. I was thinking connect the power to my remote wire, the negative to the ground and RCA to RCA. Is this a really bad idea? or what? Thanks guys

I looked around for some information about porting these subs and only came up with sealed. I just ordered 4 of these to go in the back of my durango, so space really isnt an issue. Could someone either give me a box design, or TS per. so I can do it my self. Thanks in advance

Any info will help, thanks. I am leaning towards 1st setup, just wanted to know if it was worth the 2nd. Im looking at a Hifonics GLX1400.1D

  5. ok here is my system: the head unit is a pioneer premier 750. the low/mid/high is all set to 0. bass is set at 0. sub control is set at 50 hz. and the level is + 6. my amp is a pg tantrum 1200.1 i'm using to push 2 12's in a 3.8 ft^3 box after sub and port displacement tuned to 30 hz. the bass on the amp is set to 0. x-over is down around 50 hz. i can only turn the gain up about 1/5 up and i hear terrible distortion. if i keep the gain all the way down and turn up the headunit a littl i get terrible distortion. i have my rca cable run on the opposite side of the power wire. these subs don't get loud at all before they distort. my 6.5's get louder than these wit…

  10. Currently I am Running a 15" Fi Q ported in a 4 Cu. Ft. box supposedly tuned to about 32-33hz and stock speakers in a 99' Volvo S70. I am missing out on some hz's like above 60ish probably but i want some more lows... so what im thinking of doing is for now get some midbass speakers (or maybe even just some good 6.5's) so play from like 65-70hz up and leave the rest the same... then later replace my 15 with an 18" Q tuned at 28 and then bring the midbass down to like 60-65...? does this seem logical? Also would a 18 Q in a 5 cu ft box work well or do i need to get closer to like 6 or 6.5

  12. so i was looking at onlinecarstereo and i have always wanted to try some Kappa's, perferably Kappa Perfects, but i can't afford that at all right now, i just need to upgrade what i have, which is garbage. i just bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the chick before me had a "system" in it. my coworker that knew her said it was a pair of some MTX's, he thinks 9500's. (she was some little druggie/dealer and was all drug money rich) anyways she completely blew the car stock speakers (some Infinity Gold speakers). before blown i'm sure they woulda been sweet. and i coulda tuned it fine. but they are blown to hell and i need new ones. basically, what do you recommend, i have aro…

So I am going to get a 15" Mag and want to know the optimal size box to build for my trunk. My MAX dimensions are as follows: 17 1/4 in. high 33 1/2 in. long 18 in. deep I used the speaker calculator from BCAE that I found on a google search and it calculates these numbers to 5.844 ft. ^3. Seems high to me, but??? The smaller the better, yet I want it to hit lows as well as it can without sacraficing to much. I'm running a Sundown 1500D. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Since I have 90% of my equipment for the blowthrough, I have been questioning whether my front stage will be able to keep up with my substage. I have been thinking about finally going active on my front stage. I currently have Alpine Type X 3ways. And I'm looking for mids(or a combination of mids) that have a somewhat good level of midbass and clarity. I'd also like a relatively good tweeter to go along with the mids. I typically like mellow tweeters but I'm open to anything as long as it isn't overly aggressive. My 8445 may not be perfectly suited for active applications but it'll be fine. I will be powering this with my sundown 100.2. I'm open to 2way and 2way suggest…

kudo's go out to these two gentlemen as they have been really helpful the last couple of days regarding my decision on what subs to put in my wife's car.(which has changed, and i believe it will be a single twelve ) it will either be a tcsounds sub(probably the tc2+12.2) or a soundsplinters premium (based on the tc9) 12. both have answered emails promptly and anwered any and all questions thourghly. when u go looking for ur next sub...make sure u look into tcsounds(look at audiohole.com as that is where they sell their overstock or be prepared to buy 50 subs..lol :thud: ) and soundsplinters.com...u won't be disappointed! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

using my kenwood excelon x10d - 600rms at 2ohms (1ohm stable but no power rating). which would be the better sub. i listen to metal, rock, alternative rock. basicly nice accurate bass with some decent kick is the goal. i have polk db 5.25 and 1000(1in tweets) up front and 6x9s in the rear. all off the the sony hu (cdx gt310) the aa would be alittle overpowered and the fi could be run at 1ohm or 2ohm depending on vc options budget it under $200 if anyone has another option that sould be considered.

To run from my alt to my Sub amps, the guy said I could get away with it, if I put in a special fuse.... I am So just kidding, don't shoot.... Not even ure how I came up with that as I was typing... lol... But, Seriously on the speaker wire, think 12 ga would be decent enough to run from the amp (100.4) to the cross overs to the mid/tweet sets(Polk MM6501s)??? I was getting ready to oder some power wire and I was like, Ohhh, I need some speaker wire too.... Thinking about just buying a spool of 12 ga Stinger from Darvex... I would like to oder it all from one place if I can... If I have any left over, which I'm sure I would, I'll just keep it around for a future install…

I received my 12” Level 3 and was super excited when I opened it up. It is an amazing looking sub. However, once I pulled it out of the box, I saw that the braided wires (tinsel leads??) that connect to the terminals were disconnected on both sides (both terminals). Is this normal? And if so, is it something I can fix.

I’m looking for a bit of knowledge from the bright minds on the forum which is all of you guys since I’m sure you all have a great amount of help you can provide me with. I have an 1998 Chevy Blazer I currently am using two Alpine Type-R twelve’s but want to start building a system leaning toward better SQ. I know the basics about how I want to hook it up but looking forward to some advice on a few components. I am fitting four six and a halves in the doors and two tweeters I am thinking of going from my twelve’s to ten’s for a little better response. From what I see there are a few brands that look good from JL, Focal, Cadence, Seas, Alpine, etc. Now for the subs I w…
