Subwoofers / Speakers

I have four 12s (infinity dvc) IB into my seat, they work great and have enough output for me but weigh a ton. So I'm thinking of lighter subs that are more efficient as well. So I'm reading up on it and that kind of sub tends to make less sub bass but more mid bass....a 12 might split at 40Hz where the common HD sub makes more under that and efficient sub more over that (more db); so they have more rolloff at lowest frequency. I like 30Hz, not sure if I would lose much since the difference is not very great. But now I am thinking maybe two efficient 15s would work better; with a lower Fs they should get deeper than efficient 12s right? Maybe as deep as the 12 infinitys? …

Anyone here use around 600rms on a Mag 15? I am debating instead of adding another battery into the car to just downgrade the power going to it. 600rms would be half of what I'm sending to it now. Its in a sealed box. Think it owuld be a huge difference in output or does the Mag do really bad with that amount of power?

Alright guys new one for you, My stupid city is now getting ready to pass a new law which states that if your sound system is too loud in your car, the police IMPOUND your car. Am I losing it or is this not the most Freaking DUMB THING you've ever heard in your life. If a cop can hear your music from over 25 feet, they fine you 650 dollars, and they impound your car. I was wondering if the spl subwoofer line by mach 5 is strickly for spl because I would like to use one in a daily setup. If you have one or heard one, what do they sound like? For example, could you compare them to say a Type R? I already know Mark's opinion, but I would like a few others

I have a infinity amp that puts out 600 rms at 2 ohms. I want an 18 inch sub in a ported box which i will be building. I only have enough money to get the mj 18 4 ohm. I was wondering if i will get good results by using the amp i have with the subwoofer. Im basically wondering how loud it will be....

So why is this forum host of two different brands did the creator of one company buy out the other one or something? The subs look almost the same.

Well I want to try my Fi Q10 in a ported box to see if I can sqeeze a littel more output out of it but don't really know where to start. It is in a S10 ext cab and I don't what to take up the whole back seat and keeping the sound quality I have now in a .6ft^3 box is a must. I was thinking of using tubes for ports instead of a slot port but I am open to anything. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike B.

Sry to keep posting these questions but ill try to make it as specific as possible. Mind you i perfer a really warm sounding speaker but i also like detail. So im doing a 3 way setup with either the CDT ES 07 and the Peerless SLS or the Hertz Hi Energy 165 (6.5) and HV200 (8) So which do you think i would like more and would have the best SQ

how many of you guys actually give your components there suggested rms or under? and how many of you over power them? i was thinking around another 50 watts over suggested rms wouldnt kill them would it?

I ended up getting a clarion 785usb and i have been wanting to go active for a while. I need some help with drivers tho. I really like the Eminence alpha 6 mids and i was looking at selenium horns, but i think theyd be pretty hard to get into the doors. Could you guys reccomend a decent metal dome tweet with a relatively shallow mounting depth that gets pretty darn loud? I have about 50 watts at 4 ohm and 70 at 2 ohm to work with and i think the crossover point would be like 3khz with that mid? oh and budget would be like 25ish for an 8 ohm driver or 40-50ish for a 4 ohm driver.

I have a really big van. Plenty of space for a huge ported box, so i should be able to underpower the subs a little. I'm hoping a bunch of MJs will be louder than the (4) 15" FI SSDs i have now. A pair of saz-1500 strapped were tested to do 3740 watts at 12.8 volts. A single MJ-18 is rated 600 watts rms (6) 8 ohm MJs could be wired to 1.34 ohms (8) 8 ohm MJs could be wired to 1 ohm Can I do more in a huge ported box or should i just keep my SSDs?

I would like to purchase (2) Digital Designs 9512g's. The local dealers here do not carry DD and I cannot find anywhere online to purchase these subs. Would someone please point me in the right direction?

1st round was done in my Stratus, in a 2.5 cubic ft. box, tuned to 40hz. Burp freq was 44hz for all subs, they all peaked at the same freq in my car, just like every other subwoofer that's been in there. Here's the average numbers for each sub. I'm compiling a spreadsheet with every test individually tonight, when I finish testing. 1st test on a single SAZ-3000d, 300 amp alternator, Stinger 2150 battery, all run at 1 ohm, except for the DD 9512, which was done at .5 ohms, due to coil configuration on the only one I could get for this weekend. 5 burps were done on each sub, given appropriate cooldown in between burps. I was at a car comp at Michigan Tech today, took 1st place in Street B with a 143.6 on the TL playing Outkast - Speakerboxx. I also took first in amateur SQ.

What do you guys think of the W7's other than there expensive? and W6's compared to W7's.

Hey, I'm currently running a Soundsplinter rli-8 (s4) driven by a Sundown 100.2. I just dropped in the Sundown last night (got it on the sale) and wow what a difference compared to the Rockford Fosgate 325.2 that I was running. Loud and culeeeen! Since this is just an 8, of course it has trouble going down low low with any real punch. Not a complaint, it's a freakin 8 and I can't believe what it is capable of. So I'd like to drop in a Soundplinter RLP D2 w/ a Sundown 1000D. Question: Will I be better off just letting the 12 do all the work, or could I get louder by running the 12 from say, 20-50Hz or so, and the 8" up to 80Hz or so? I'm not looking to get rid of the 8, …

Is a true 1500 watts too much for a single Fi Q 18" to handle with the BP option? I was trying to decide between going this route, or going with a dual 15" setup with a 2500watt amp...I'm leaning towards the 18 since it'll be cheaper and more electrically friendly. (vehicle is a dodge magnum)

I have an saz 1500 on tap and want the best SQ I can get out of it, and be able to play verry verry low deep bass with authority. I was thinking 18"s or so but the ICON is sooooo nice. I also thought about the last gen d2 mags, but a pair would be harder to find and I get confused with how I could wire them to not go lower than the 1 ohm load. What suggestions do you guys have? Any other ideas? It's going in an expedition 98 EB edition.

I'm trying to figure out what to get for a good sound system in my Escalade. I was thinking about getting 2 12inch cv stroker's,(any opinion on these). for the doors I was thinking about a boston acoustics components 6 1/2's not sure about a deck, back door speakers, and amps for speakers and the subwoofers. Please help. Speakers pairs not more than 300 bucks subs not more than 300 bucks a piece amps not sure imagine they'll be at least 500 but I want to keep it around 3500 dollars give me your ideas with install so.
