I know most of you guys over here are all for SI and SS and it doesn't seem like you get much talk over here about RE. Well my question involves RE, and I'd appriciate some input... I drive a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. I was going to pick up a set of 12" RE SEs and port them at 33 Hz. I was going to use the following box deminsions: 36" length 13.5" height 23.5" depth Well today I measured and made some what of a template to see how big the box would be in my Explorer. Everything is fine except I don't want it so deep. I've talked with a few guys from RE or who know alot about them and they said I couldn't really make it any smaller. Is that true? Or Should I go with a singl…

I am getting very mixed opinions about this. I have 2 12 inch ssd's going in a 04 escalade running off of a saz 1500d. What should I make a sealed or a ported enclosure. give me the reason why don't just pick one. What is the biggest difference between the two. It is my first real setup, so I don't know. The SSD's can be in either enclosure.

I am currently in the middle of my box build. I will post the full build later. The box is 16" wide x 28" tall x 25" deep. The sub and port are up. It will live in between the back seats in a 2008 Tundra. Powered by a 3000.1 Taramps. I have two baffles and a "beauty" panel cut. My question is do I need to use the double baffle if I properly glue the "beauty" panel to the baffle or can I go with a single baffle the "beauty" panel? Just wondering If I can save a little bit of height and still be safe and solid enough. Thanks for the help. Here is my box design.

It finally came this morning from Mr. UPS himself. I got that and a new box today. I have a custom ported box with dual ports tuned to 30Hz. I hooked it all up to my rockford p1000bd and I couldn't get the rca cables to reach so i gave it a slight tug and ripped the cables. So I just took the rca's off my speaker amp and hooked it up that way, didn't know what to expect, it is in a trans am. I turned the gains half way up and just stared at it for a while lol. Then I figured it was time, time to shut the hatch and sit down and play a bit with no door speakers. It sounds incredible, it is so so loud, shaking everything inside my car and shaking the mirrors outside my car a…

Soooo, after tons of researching and trying to figure out what I want to use in my boys truck....I think I have settled on getting 2 10" IXL's.....one question though, and I do apologize. I am very new to all of this and usually pay someone to just do all my stuff, but this time I will be building the box and such, which I can figure out. My question is power, at the moment I have a RF10001...1000 watts at 1 Ohm, will this be enough to push these subs or do I need something better/bigger? I would love to stay with just this for power reasons, but I will do what I have to obviously...may just have to get a bigger underhood battery and alt, which I am trying to avoid. The…

Having never heard an Icon 10" in a sealed box I was wondering if it would be worth the money to upgrade the JL 10w3v3 that is currently in my JL stealth box? Box volume is .625 and is located under the center console in a 2006 toyota tundra double cab. I currently have a 500 watt RF powering it but I would upgrade the amp too if I did the switch. Basically I'm wondering if it would be significantly louder. I understand that a small sealed box isn't ideal for "loud" but it was nice keeping my back seat. Any opinions would be appreciated.

  13. does anyone out there by chance have a file made for WinISD pro alpha? for 15 inch magnum. i had it but lost in durring reformatting (yeah i used to be a computer nerd hehe) but now when i try to make one with the updated alpha pro it says stuff is missing and i need more specs. but on the bright side, it seems the updated pro alpha might be more accurate with magnums? i know lots of stuff looked really crummy on paper wth it in the old pro alpha, but modeling up a 12incher ported in there (yes i kept 12 inch files) it had a better F3 than the ported 15s from the old version.

I have been wanting to try out a 12" Mag for a while now. The guy is selling an older version for $200+shipping. I think he may go a little lower, but I dont know yet. Looks to be in decent shape, few cosmetic battle scars. Major scratches on the basket but still looks OK. Now this is what I am so skeptical about, he reglue the spider to the cone and basket. Looks like potential trouble in the future. I really want one that I can have many hours of listening enjoyment from. Please give some feedback on what you think.

  16. I have a Diamond TDX 15" , in a 2.65 cu ft. box, GROSS, so it's probly right near 2.25 after all dispacement. It's ran off a Memphis 1000D . Ported with 2, 3" round ports 14-1/2" long each. According to the Diamond Tech line this is at 34 hz. and it slams pretty good. BUT , it' still lacking to me! This is in an 04' Pontiac Grand Am trunk, there is more space but I need it for the kids things and my wifes. Also access to the spare tire for road trips etc. So I want to either switch to 2-10" Quality subs or 2-12" quality subs that will give the same SQ. but more output ! It does real good but is a little bit lacking in the bottom end (because of port size) . I couldn't g…

  20. hey all, i just signed in w/ the forum. actually, what i wanna know is what size sub/s is best for my application. first of all, i plan on purchasing the Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS comps powered by the Zed Audio Gladius Burr Brown amp. has ne1 listened to these cause i agree the front stage is the most imporant. im building a SQ system for my 02 dodge ram single cab. so, air flow is a prob. my friend says that a 12 would be too big, but does it depend on the mounting depth + box size? I love subs like the crystal cmpx2 that they only make in a 12 and 15. even if say a 12 would fit; would it be too much? he also said 2 8's is best for sq but idk how. i realize sq is subjec…

  22. I have a 91 Acura Integra, and I'm gonna throw 2x 18" XL's in there on a SAZ-3000D or a SAZ-3500D @ 1 ohm... Finally got the numbers together, and have an enclosure designed with interchangeable ports (one is 33hz and the other one is 37 hz.... I was only able to get so much airspace out of my integra, but came up with 12ft3 with the 33hz port and 13.24ft3 with the 37hz port.... and thats NET, after sub displacement, bracing displacement, and port displacement.... My question is this.... I'm new to the "wall" thing, but I'm definitely doing it....and I want to know if it matters if the port is on the top or on the bottom (behind my head or towards my lower back?)..... If …

  23. I have an Alpine 12" Type-R 1242D subwoofer and I'm currently looking at an Alpine MRP M500 amplifier. The sub puts out 500 watts RMS (dual voice coil, 4 ohms), and the amp puts out 500 watts at 2 ohms. First, how do I bring the sub down to 2 ohms, like people say they do? Also, does the amp need to be more powerful? After measuring the power it can put out specifically, it came to around 600 watts. Is that too low or too high? I'm looking for a good, deep bass, mainly for rap, just for reference.
