using my kenwood excelon x10d - 600rms at 2ohms (1ohm stable but no power rating). which would be the better sub. i listen to metal, rock, alternative rock. basicly nice accurate bass with some decent kick is the goal. i have polk db 5.25 and 1000(1in tweets) up front and 6x9s in the rear. all off the the sony hu (cdx gt310) the aa would be alittle overpowered and the fi could be run at 1ohm or 2ohm depending on vc options budget it under $200 if anyone has another option that sould be considered.

It's funny how people used to like Treo subs just as much, if not some more than RE subs and nobody talks about them anymore. I'm thinking of upgrading my system within the next few months. I have a 2006 Corolla sport for those of you who don't know me already and a JBL GTO 1201.1 II amp powering a pair of Orion HP 12s sealed in 1.2 cubes per chamber and a Batcap 800 for my amp. It sounds pretty good but it dims just a lil bit at night so one of my upgrades will be a bigger alternator. I just bought a new deck online (Alpine CDA-9886) for my iPod. I may also upgrade my amp to a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D. I'm thinking of upgrading my subs to 2 SS RL-p 12s sealed or 2 T…

I was sent a Mach 5 SPL 12 to test. I recieved it today and checked it out really well as far as build quality and design. My 1st impression when I opened the cardboard box was hmmmmmm, a crate. I didn't know they came in crates, which caught me off guard at first. While I like the way the crate looks, it really didn't protect the subwoofer any better than a box with foam padding. Upon opening the crate, the foam was in tact, but the wood was busted up pretty badly, however, the subwoofer sustained no damage as far as I can tell, so it did it's job. Now for the good things I noticed upon initial inspection: o Glue joints are flawless, there's no excess glue anywhere…

came across SSA today while shopping for some news subs. i have a kenwood excelon amp which pushes 600rms x1 at 2ohms and its 1ohm stable but with no power rating. i posted on crutchfield.com and by chance someone mensioned the ssa icon 12" that he heard. i dont think i have the power for that sub.... i listen to metal and atternative rock. so i goin for a sq or LSQ kind of set up. buget is $250 max. i build my own box and understand box construction. my old subs where 3 12" kicker comps (my first system so dont bash me about them. lol) just looking for something that will keep me satified for the next couple year while im at college. so this is basicly my only upgrade i…

Ok well I had this all wrote and and stupid me closed the tab out when I was looking up some info. So I shall start again. Overview: Ok, I'm planning on getting back into audio (not that I left for long). My past installs have all been geared toward being the loudest possible. My new plan is to try and make my setup geared toward SQ. I'm thinking about doing a 3 way active front stage. I still planning a sub stage but that is not what I'm worried about. I'm just not real sure on how exactly to get my front stage up and running. Now that you have an idea on whats going on, on to some questions. I plan on piecing my front stage together instead of buying a "kit" o…

I have a kicker L7 in a sealed box (its dumb I already know) and a kicker zx750 I am looking to buy a bigger box ported box (3 cubic feet or so) but have been warned about the lack of quality in some boxes. Which one of these would be a better choice? Option 1 or Option 2 Or are these not the best choices for an enclosure at all?

Wha's good? Um, I'm new to this site but I'm going to get str8 to business. I have a 2000 Lincoln LS and I'm thinkingof buying a BTL 12. Is this a decent set up along with a power acoustik 3000D, and if so, what type or box should I use?

Price doesnt really matter. but i dont want to redo all my electrical because i dont plan on keeping the car i have. I was thinking maybe an icon or fi or re or mayb alpine type rs. and i would need suggestions on an amp as well. thanx

I'm expanding my research here so i can get the pros and cons of different equipment. In an earlier thread, Dave Brooks and other suggested i use HLCDs with 4Kw of bass so i don't drown out the stock tweeters that wouldnt be there by that time anyway. Anyway, i came across another gadget, a Horn Loaded tweeter with specs as good, if not Better than Image Dynamics HLCDs. These tweeters cost a little less, but i have questions on the technology in general, not really the product itself. Here is info - http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc...p;idproduct=363 Efficiency - 107Db @1W/1M 50wrms I tried to find some research on them and i found a little but do not know if i…

ok i know ive bugged a few of you guys enough but before i go and drop 2000+ on a new system i want to make sure im getting something that will most defiantly be the loudest chit on the block. I am leaning way towards 2 18" btls fully loaded running off a RF t40001bd. what would you guys go with that will still maintain a decent sq and pick up lows fully without distortions.

Yep yep, I just sent it out a few hours ago. Chad should have it by Wednesday and then he and JimJ are going to try to meet this weekend to do some sealed testing. I was sad to see it go...and it also reminded me of how critical a sub is to a sound system. Damned Audax 5.25's!!

I got a chance to listen my buddies DC lvl4 15 this weekend and was very impressed. His set up consist of a 06 US Amps MD2, DC lvl4 15 D2 in a 3.5ft3 tuned at 35htz, stock electrical system, and 1 crappy deck in his Chevy S10. I do have to say these are loud low end monsters! I was very impressed with it. He ordered it from Rusty and recieved it the following day!!! Nicely done!

hey guys! just checking if you had any information about the Audioque HDC3 sub? I've seen some things on the internet about them being comparable to the BL but judging by the specs, they appear to be a bit more SPL oriented then the BL's let me know if you've heard anything good or bad! or which one you'd pick between HDC3 or BL

I received quotes from my OEM on the SPL-15 this evening: $330.00 each This includes shipping within North America. You will never see anything like this anywhere else for a driver of this caliber. And I challenge anyone out there to match it... This is a "one time" price for those who wish to jump on this deal. Trust me, *if* they become mainstream, they will not sell for anywhere near this price. Here are the caveats to this deal: - Pre-order payment is $250.00 per driver. The $80 balance is a flat rate shipping fee from me to you. If you wish to pay for it in full, you are welcome to do so. - If I do not receive adequate pre-order requests/payments, the deal is of…

I was looking for some ppls 2 cents on a set up choice. the setup will be a 12" RE SE in a 3cu ft. box @ 33 hz powerd by a kicker 400.1 Just wondering if this will be a good combo. Its goin in the back of a f-150 by the way. Looking for good lows while not sounding like poop. I have had the sub for a lil bit now but am finaly putting it back in my car, last time it was in a 2cu foot box @ 34hz and only got about 200 rms. Hoping by adding more power and a bigger box it will sound better. Thanks

I'm sure everyone here has had those times when they just get bored and wanna try a different set-up. It's hit me too. Right now I have a 15" Mag D2 in a 3.25 ported enclosure powered by a Hifonics 1205d (putting out about 1000wrms@1ohm). I am trying to get rid of the mag to try a different set-up, I wanted to do 2-12's. I will have around $220-240 to work with, but if i can get away cheaper I will. They two subs I was deciding between were the Type-R's and those MB quarts that woofersetc has on sale for $99.MB quarts What are some other good options in this price range? I will probably use the same amp and box size isn't much of an issue (up to 5 cuft shouldn't be hard t…
