Subwoofers / Speakers

I've posted elsewhere but am hoping for more input. I'm changing/adding subs on a budget and I have it narrowed down to a few, but would like people's opinions on them. Car is a 2013 Elantra sedan, factory HU, using a basic LOC for signal. Will run 1/0 power wire. Amp will be a Taramps, model dependent on sub(s). I'll be building an mdf enclosure, probably ported. I listen to a mix of rap/dubstep/alt rock. Just a daily SQ system. Based on my budget and space limitations, I can do 2-12s using a pair of Ampere 2.5RVE or D.C. Level 2, or I can do a single 12 using either a Skar VXF, FI XV3, SSA Gcon or SSA Icon. What I'm really after is, are there any signif…

From the DC specs page i noticed that the BL for a level 3 15" is 22.18 TM and the BL for the Level 4 15" is 16.15 TM.. now from the specs, the level 3 has 17.5lbs of magnet, vs the level 4's 28.5lbs.. from my understanding, BL stands for magnetic strength.. how come the sub with less magnet material has a higher BL??

Hi I am trying to get more output from my coworker's car. He currently has a 04 F150 SuperCrew and is running 1 10" Cadence Mallet II 2ohms / Cadence Z1000 amp / Pioneer p4200ub. It currently sound nice but not enough bass at all. I am thinking about porting the box but don't where to start and what I should have it tuned to. Would this be a good idea to do? I currently have (2) RE SE 10's and have my 2.7cu box ported at 33hz and he likes the way it sounds with the low bass rolling. I don't know with his smaller box and the Cadence sub can do... i have 2 15" Sundown sa-15's in a 7 cuft box in a 1998 gmc jimmy. i'm running a hifonics hifi1500.1 amp. I've seen people with the same subs, same brand amp(but smaller) in very similar vehicles do much better hair tricks than i can achieve. Any suggestions on how to increase mine? I love to show off my subs and this is a fun way to do so!

I have a 2004 tacoma ext cab with a single ssa dcon 12 svc 4 0hm and a Boston acoustics gt-2125 bridged to give the dcon 400w rms at 4ohms. I have a sealed box with 1.25 cuft of airspace it's a prefab ground shaker here I can use, it's new and came as a gift, my question is how would it sound sealed with 400w rms in a sealed enclosure?? All this stuff is new, and I just don't have 200 for a custom tune box right now and I really want to have something in my truck would it be good to use this sealed box or get a tuned and ported box.

I have a 2010 malibu with a 250A mechman, D2400 under the hood and 0g all round with a 4 cu box tuned to 35 hz. Hifonics BRE 1700.1, I would be using this amp for which ever sub i decide to get. Which subwoofer would be best for a daily driver? It would be a 15". My choices are as followed: Sundown Zv4 15, Psi Platform 3, X15, or a DC level 4? Im not making this to be a VS thread, i was just asking for some opinions on which would be best for a daily set up?

Well first off, howdy to all. Just joined the fourm and im sure i have some friends here from sin. What i was wondering was how many people here have inverted their sub? Nick told me the basket would grow on me a long time ago and it did. Has anyone else seen a sub with the same basket?

I'm in the process of working out a system for my TJ Jeep. I'd appreciate some advice on different ported-enclosure arrangements to suit it. Leaning towards down firing, but i am concerened about wind interference from port positioning, as if is a soft-top. Also, it will be to suit two Fi BTL 18's or 15's, undecided... Thanks!

Dont know much about the RE SX, XXX or the MT 12 subwoofer, just saying how how they compare to the Kicker L7 12 or the Soundstream T4 12? Do they need a ported box or a sealed box? About how much each one run in price have $1200 for the box, subs and amp?

Hi guys and gals first post not new to the car audio world but been out of it for a long time . I already have a system in my 2010 Silverado crewcab . I'm running the JL audio stealth box with 2 JL 10w3 subs that came with it . About 800 watts rms . I had the same amp with the same subs in my other car but with a custom ported box . Wow I loved that system . But in my truck I was limited on space and the JL audio prebuilt sub box was just very convenient and ready for installation so I went that direction. I have a set of 8 Ohm Solo Baric subs I am looking to run on a Mono Amp. I used to have a set of Solo's that were 4 ohm that I ran on a US 1000x. Can't remember what the setup was but I know I had a neg from one sub running to pos to the other sub, then one terminal pos going to the pos on amp and neg going to the amp. Is that just a bridge Mono? Would that have been at 1 ohm? My question is, If I do that on my 8 ohm subs what Ohm rating will I be at. and also what is the exact wiring configuration. Well we had our Focal rep come into the shop today, and he was telling me an another co worker about all the new Focal stuff. I happened to ask him about the Focal Grande Utopia Em and he told me that they are the best sounding speakers he has ever heard. With the 180K pricetag for a pair, I would hope they sound that good. But here's my question, the subwoofer uses some new technology where it doesn't use a permanent magnet at all, but instead uses a huge winding of wire as a magnet. What advantages does this yield? I though I heard someone say something about controlling the force of the motor also. I just want someone to simplify the function of this.

I have a 1997 tahoe and i'm looking to set my system up by summer. my question is should i do 2 audioque sdc 2.5 15's or 1 fi q 18'' sub? and amp choices will either be a audioque 1200d or a sundown 1200d. i mostly listen to hip hop if this helps and want mostly lows with some flex over ""SQL"".

Yes I have a audiopipe 1800 watt amp and 2 12" alpine type r subs the are 1800 watts peak and 600 watts rms at 2 ohm and I was told this amp was to powerful for my subs just need help in adjusting the leveles so I don't blow them any suggestions or help I highly appricate it thanks

It's looking like I may be picking up an Eclipse SW9182Pro...18"...need to decide on an enclosure for it. I'm limited to 1.4kW, so I'm thinking of using a larger box to lower the Qtc and increase efficiency - space is not a concern. Porting it is another idea, but it would have to be to an extremely low frequency - I'd like to use this enclosure over when I move it inside, I'm buying this with the intention of using it at home someday. I'm thinking even 27Hz would be too high of a tuning frequency for music/HT. Any ideas?

hi i need help finding a good pair of 12s subs. my budget is about 500 dollars for the pair. i got a 03 mustang so i dnt got that much room for a big box maybe 2.5 for each sub space. i got 2 hifonics 2000 watt amps a kinetik 2000 battery. i listen mostly to rap music and i like to crank it all the way up till my ears hurt. if u guys can give me some ideas it b great. i was thinking of re audio sxx or fi audio bl but dnt really know about them. or if u guys know better subs let me know. thanks

I have a Diamond TDX 15" , in a 2.65 cu ft. box, GROSS, so it's probly right near 2.25 after all dispacement. It's ran off a Memphis 1000D . Ported with 2, 3" round ports 14-1/2" long each. According to the Diamond Tech line this is at 34 hz. and it slams pretty good. BUT , it' still lacking to me! This is in an 04' Pontiac Grand Am trunk, there is more space but I need it for the kids things and my wifes. Also access to the spare tire for road trips etc. So I want to either switch to 2-10" Quality subs or 2-12" quality subs that will give the same SQ. but more output !
