ok I am looking for opinions here. what do you guys feel are the advantages and disadvantages of running several 8" subs compared to a single 15". Asuming both are installed properly and run off the same amp at the same impedience. Thanks Chad

The prototype is in flight right now after being assembled and is scheduled to arrive at our facility tomorrow. The reps and I have known about the arrival for a few days but I'm posting this now to let you all know when the proto is scheduled to arrive. I'll take pictures and get them posted by this weekend. This weekend will also be the initial testing of the new Mag, and it's going to be a tough test! We're going to position the new Mag against the old/current Mag and our testing will be published complete with numbers of the comparission. Anyway, the new Mag proto is coming soon!

Aight. You'll think I'm stupid but... Why choose the Havoc over the T2? I understand that the Havoc has more power handling and Xmax, But the T2 has a lower Qtx, higher Bl, and I know it can handle a lil over 1000. I'm pretty set on the Havoc cuz I know it will be able to handle more power, but just out of curiosity why choose the Havoc?

I Just got the ca clue for my dustcaps and now i finally have 2 working XXX 15s. I jacked my friends sealed box he built for his XXX 15 in a trunk and due to size i have it facing up at an angle. It sounds loud as fudge even running at 1kw and actually keeps up to techno as compared to the ported box i had before (made for an MT so the bar wasnt set high) Anyway i sorta have 2 options interms of a box for me. I can either Try a T-line for a single 15 running off 1kw (only issues are size because its a 32" box and the top of my trunk is only 31"... i sorta want to see if a chitload of sanding may work to give me the angle i need and how well it may work for the XXX because…

I'm looking at the RE SR subs for 600 watts and I may run a pair of the 10s. However I saw that the 12s only require 1.5 subs per sub tuned to 35 hz. Does that sound right? If it is correct what type of sound would that produce? Would it have good SQ and get loud?

I have a JBL gto 1200.1 II amp that puts out about 1100 watts at 2 ohms. Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s in 1.2 cubes each and they sound ok but I would like a louder setup that'll have good sq. I'm considering a different pair of 12s sealed or a single 12 ported. I've always ran sealed setups with 12s and I'm thinking of trying a pair of ported 10s. Can a pair of ported 10s get louder than and have good sq like a pair of sealed 12s? Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s sealed.

SO, after too much measurements, calculations...ect. I could do a vented enclosure, 1.5" thick mdf all the way around, port it...and after sub disp., still net 5 cubes per sub. My question now is, what would be best in this "small box 4 sub" type of enclosure... RL-P, Fi Q, BL,.... would like to get loud but sound good, and these subs fit in that requirement 4 sure... "also need to see 1 ohm at amp(orion 2500D)" side note. or, maybe 2 DP's? more spl oriented of course. I was searching threw the SS forum, and someone said 5 cubes would be choking them...? is this true?, should I go Fi Q/BL w/options...? or should I stick with a couple 15"s...? as 2-15" properly boxe…

Before i start, go ahead and go to youtube and search for HDC3, there are already some videos of them in action. I thought since nobody had any info on them that i would share what i have been told from the guy himself. If you thought the old HD3s were loud, ...haha get ready. There has been reviews about people doing direct swaps from HD3s to HDC3s and gaining, not loosing, gaining Dbs (not noticeable by ear, but by meter). So, what to expect out of these? The Fs rating on these subs are high, why? The Parameters for these subs were taken fresh. Have not been "broken in" yet. The suspension is still stiff as hell. When an HDC3 is broken in, the Fs drops approximately …

Hello folks. I wanted to get some opinions on 8inch midbass drivers. I'm changing up the front end in my Dodge Durango. I will be running 4 Diamond Audio M6 4inch midranges and a pair of M&K softdome tweets. They will be actively passed at 250 up at 12db per/octave. One set of mids and the tweets will reside in custom pods on the front corners of the dash(tucked in between the dashboard, A-pillar, and windshield so they can be on-axis and facing the passengers) and the second set will reside in pods on the upper front corners of the front door panels. All will be laser aligned to a center point about a foot past the front seats. The midbasses will be located in the lo…

Well im looking for a new sub(s) and the two im looking at right now are a 12" BTL dual2 off 2300 watts or two Fi Q's off 1100 a piece i have around 3.5 cubes that i can still be comfortable in the truck I can go up to 6, but im trying to get something smaller so i have room i have around $400 to play with, I am basically wondering what would be my best alternative. I am fairly used to my tc-3000 in 3.5 cubes off 1000 watts, how would both of those compare in SQ and output? I hear really mixed things about the BTL how bad is the SQ? I would get the HiXM coil and third mag, possibly cooling. This is in an ex cab s10 with a pretty stout electrical (3 batts four runs of 2 ga…

  15. Started by Electrodynamic,

Some of you have seen pics or drawing of the new Mag's basket and read about its shallow 5.5" of mounting depth. You might have also heard about the super-small enclosure requirements. As much as I love my current Mag 12's, and love beating the absolute piss out of them, I have also given a lot of though as to the design in general. The current Mag (the one's we are sold out of) are a decently efficient, are extremely versitile, and have the ability to soak up a LOT of power. That last sentence has a key word in it - soak. I can count on one hand how many times I have bottomed out my pair of Mag's with a 3200 watt amplifier, two big batteries, and an HO alt. And ev…

While we were testing the new Mag we decided to play around with some old BM 10's. We put eight 10's in an SPL car that had no alternator, 5 batteries, and a single SAZ 3000D. The first burp was in the 154's but we ended up getting it up to a 157.2 without too much trouble. Keep in mind the batteries had no charger on them for most of the test and when a carger was on them it was a little portable (about 12" by 9") charger. Oh yeah, this was all done on a Term Lab meter.

I have got two '08 L7 12'' coming in tomorrow. I have i built an enclosure that is 4.6 cubes after sub and port displacement, the port is 14.5''H, 4.5''W, and 17 inches deep. i figured the tuning to be about 37-39 Hz is this correct? Did i build a proper sub enclosure for these two? I am pretty sure that i am above the minimum airspace requirement for two of these drivers. i want it to get pretty damn loud but still be musical, i plan on using this for daily as well as a few of the local shows around here this year I dont want to roll up to these shows looking like i havent got a clue(because i dont). At first im gonna be running the pair on 1000 watts RMS, but when i ge…

Ok I purchased a new car and am taking out my old audio (which won't fit into the new car) and trying to purchase some new stuff (or used) for my new car. Now I have about 1.3 cu ft of space to work with for a sub... Not much at all but I want good SQ that can get LOUD.... I listen to Rock, Rap, Hip hop, Techno, etc.... Now I really like the 12" JLw6v2 which I would do in a sealed enclosure but I don't know if I can justify the HUGE markup they put on the sub... I know it is a great sub and it sounds great but I'm sure I can do just as well for much cheaper.... I also like that the sub can run off 500 - 600 rms and get loud This is where you guys come into play... I am tr…

Has anyone on here tried the Boston G5 12 inch sub? I got one the other day (cheap)brand new and haven't hooked it up to anything yet-just wanted peoples opinion's. I heard a pair on a JL 1000/1 at a local stereo shop-and I thought they sounded great (even on there display wall). I have a 1000/1 sitting around and was thinking about trying that combo in my Mariner? I have a baby on the way and probably will need to take my 15's out from time to time-so the box will be lighter to take in and out. Just wondered if anybody had tried them before-Thanks

I would have clicked the buy it now but..... those have the old school rubber surrounds that are most likely somewhat dry rotted. These would be better off kept in the box the way they are. I would LOVE to put these in my 91 Acura for a somewhat period correct system but these are just too damn sexy! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...I:IT&ih=006

I really wanted to get a Fi BTL 18" subwoofer for use in a car and possibly other various occasions. But I took a trip over to Guitar Center and tested out the JBL MRX518S. I was amazed with its volume and clarity. I have never heard the BTL so im curious if it can get louder/sound better than the JBLs even if it is not in a car. If anyone knows anything that would be a great help. Thanks. Also I understand that they are not really similar speakers, and I plan on using it more when it is not in a vehicle.

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me find a manufaturer that can rebuild a subwoofer based off an Audiomobile Mass series magnet structure. It is a 3inch underhung design that was origonally built or at least designed by TC Sounds. The design was also used in the SVS Ultra(v1) home subwoofer. TC as some of you may know has been restructured and are far to busy to handle this request. I was just wondering if there are any other products/manufaturers that would be compatible. Any input is welcome. Thanks.

So i figured i would come here for advice.

I'm looking to upgrade my sub and I have no way to hear either of these subs personally, give me your opinion please. I have a 94 Mazda 626, amp is a Kicker SX1250.1 birthsheet at 1420 watts. I'm looking at either: a 15" Fi BL with cooling a 15" Fi Q with bp power a 15" Ascendant Audio Havoc. I think I can get a 4 cu ft net box tuned to about 28-32 Hz into the trunk. The other question I have is that I think I have about 17" clearance under the parcel shelf. Is that enough room to get a box in that would fit a 15"? If it's not is there a problem with facing the sub up or should I stick with a 12" version of the sub? Also please let me know why you would pick the s…
