Got my SA-12 back in October and finally getting around to a box build. Fired up Torres. Single SA-12 on a SQ 750w. Look good to go? Or any thing I need to change? =Going in Volvo V50 wagon, sub/port firing towards hatch.

yep, got it today... and already have it installed... it's in 2.5ft^3 tuned to ~34hz with 25in^2 of port and currently recieving 1200wrms @ 4ohm from my orion. no review yet as i haven't done any real listening sessions..but for those who are wanting to compete with it... it'll take at least 2500wrms. it won't like it for daily, but for burps..it did fine. ok...tomorrow night or thrusday night, a full review. pics follow... a shiny ass installed in one of my old treo ss's enclosures..specs above wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I currently have the new alpine type x components on my 90mazda b2200 installed on some custom kick panels i made and dont like how they sound. I just purchased 4 10s Savard Rap subs that i plan on installing them in the back space of the seats. So im looking for drivers that could keep up with subs but maybe little more vocal. Im not going for SPL or SQ, something in between. I was thinking of adding 2 5” drivers per door wired down to 4ohm and 2 tweeters per door “ or maybe gonna install in A/C vents” down to 4ohm as well. The amp i have for vocals is a Twisted Sounds 150.4. I was planning on raw drivers madisound or PE, with budget of around 40-70 per driver depending …

I'm trying to decide on a set of 6.5" components for my new system. It's a daily SQ driver that I've already exceeded the budget for with the following: HU: Pioneer DEH-P5900iB Comp Amp: Sundown SAX-100.4 Sub: Sound Splinter RL-i8 DVC 4 Sub Amp: Sundown SAE-1000D I wanted to get Focal 165-V2's, but can't find a reputable online seller (local retailers are overpriced). I settled for the 165-V1's from Sonic Electronix, but I've never heard them in person... and I think they have a similar tweeter to the 165-A1's, which sounds harsh. I've read plenty of good anecdotal evidence in favor of CDT components, but I've never heard them in person. And there seem to be a *lot* o…

So I have had my Evil 15 for about 2 months give or take and love it! I am powering it with a Sundown SCV3000D in a 4.25cuft enclosure tuned to 32hz. I am thinking of increasing my power with an SCV4000D. Will I notice the difference with the increase in power and is it worth it? I also know that I will need to rebuild and go with something on the smaller side but how big should my box be with the increase in power? Any and all help is appreciated!

Well it looks like the SI 15" is going to have some competition from the 16" OV2 as it finally came out. I guess we'll see which is supreme. Some of the comments from mags for the ED line: "the embodiment of what a great subwoofer should be" "the real deal" "defines how low frequency should be reproduced"

  9. Hi. I havn't been on here in a while. I just gt my system all hooked up and everything sounds good. I just had one more question; What kind of speakser would fit my front door speakers for a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT? I would like Kicker front speakers with built in tweeters, but I am not sure as to what size would fit my car. If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just got home from a 16hr day at work. This iwas delivered. first impression, good build quality, heavier than expected 29lbs, sharp looking cone and very stiff. So needless to say this put a smile on my face. Now I just need some time to make a few enclosures and test it out. I am thinking one 1ft^3 sealed and the other 2ft^3 30sq in of port tuned to 32-34hz. I will either run it off my SAZ 3000d @ 4ohms or a PG Tantrum 1200.1 @ 4ohms. Maybe this weekend I will have some time. Chad

Ok so I was wondering how well do Kicker L7's hold up. I'm not looking for great SQ or the Loudest, just a good in between that isn't extremely expensive. 2 12" L7 2ohm or 2 12" L7 4 ohm is what I was thinking. Also are Hifonics amps decent? they seem to be cheap... but is it just another "you get what you pay for" deal? or if you could recommend something else all together, I am use to lower quality/ older style MTX, Sony etc.

  14. Whats up guys & girls i'm new to this forum & need your help on subs. I build a sealed enlosure that was suppose to be for 15s & it's about 2.85 cu ft per chamber before displacement for my 90 b2200 cab plus mini truck, Online dealers recommend 12" subs for that size enclosure. So I installed some old school Earthquake 12" subs & don't sound right, So swapped them out for some of the newer Alpine type R subs and still don't sound good. My enclosure looks more for 15's not 12s. The mono amp I'm using is Cadence Zrs C1 which is only good for 1 ohm load.

  15. A sneak peek of my new box . It is being built by Dave Marin of High Output Enclosures. It will be bed lined with a red port perhaps. It will have 5.0 cu ft net ,and is tuned @33 hz . I have two options for power . I can continue using two p1000x1's both have birth sheets of 1500 watt's , or I can use a synergy wfo 3500; but it'll have to be run at .5 ohm since I have dual 2ohm xcon 12's . Should sound great either way .

Goodmorning everybody, I just ordered my first 2 ever Sundown Nightshade v.2 15s. Which are going to be powered by (2) Saz-2500. I ordered a midgate box for the 15's from this site. Here's a link so u can get an idea. http://www.carforce1.com/popup_image.php?pID=123&osCsid=ff95f7f7feb2370cf60b02e13253aef1 My question is 3.5 cubic feet of space in that box enough to really enjoy hard thumping bass. And yes I know the pic isn't for 15's in addition the port on mine is bigger than the one in the pic. N no raping please this is my first build. Last system I had was Liberty City Flea Market brands.

  18. I was scrolling through PE's website last night and ran across a driver that I found interesting. The Fountek FR135EX 5" Full Range driver. First of all, I'm surprised that anyone could get the upper extension to consider it a full range with a cone that large and I'm sure beaming would be a major issue if used off axis. When I look at them though I see one thing they could do that a 3" couldn't which is lower end extension. The only real problem I have with the 3" full ranges that I'm using now is the fact that lower/deeper vocals and other such information is pretty anemic. That requires the midbass drivers to reach up a little more than is optimal to bridge the ga…

Now ill be the first to admit that I really don't know a ton about a good proper speaker setup upfront.. Iv mainly focused my attention on subwoofers for the first few years of my car audio journey as I'm sure most of us do. I'm really looking to up my game as far as my front stage goes. I'm kind of leaning towards making my own 2-way or 3-way setup. Depending on whether decide to go with a 2 or 3 way setup, I really wanted to try a soft dome tweeter along with a midrange speaker (if 3 way is the best option) mounted in the A-pillars. Then have either an 8" or 10" midbass driver in each of the front doors. My goal is obviously not perfect sound quality. I want a les…

  21. If the human ear is unable to detect the direction ot true mid bass (below 250 hz), why not run a single 8" woofer in the rear deck of my challenger to compliment the 6 1/2' component set up front and 12" sub in the trunk? I bought a 5 channel Boston GTA amp super cheap and could car less about rear fill, but would like better mid bass response. Please tell me why I'm crazy. p.s.There is no way in hell my wife would ever let me chop up the doors to put a pair of 8"s there, and I am not running active.
