i have a question about a system i plan to build, i have a 07 monte carlo. i plan to get the rockford power 1000 5 ch, from all the reviews and info i found on it the sub channel makes about 900 rms. i dont know which way i wanna go with the subs, should i get two 12s at 500 rms a piece or a single 15 at 1000 rms. from what i found about most subs i looked at for a single 15 the ported box size is about the same as two 12s in a ported box. as for the install i dont want it to take up the whole trunk so i want to build a box around 3.5 to 4 3ft. but what combination would sound better, i like rap mostly and i like it loud. thanks for the info in advance.

subs wont arrive for a couple days and im trying to get my enclosure done before they get here. whats the outside mounting diameter of the level 4 15s? thanks

found this on craigslist. focal 165 v30 30th anniversary 6.5 components in box note even broke in jl audio c2 650 coaxils pdx f4 alpine amp the focals are gone. but was thinking i would buy them somewhere else. do you think about this this? he wants 320 for amp and speakers. whats a good price? will this be loud enough and clear enough over 2 12 icons? in a tahoe

i know this will vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle, but is there a general rule of thumb for sub/port placement as far as trunked cars being the loudest? i've always had setups in suv's, which usually take better to sub up, port back configurations. i have a 99 subaru impreza RS, and was wondering what would give me the best output as far as which way the sub fires, and which way the port fires. give me any, and all of your input. personal experience, theories, etc...

WEll, I had some other enclosures to build today so I decided I'd get a little playtime with the Magnum in... My baffle is pretty much finished up except for the cosmetics so I went ahead and hung it all from the deck and ran some speaker wire from my truck to the trunk of the Cutlass. Wow!!! This thing is AMAZING IB!!! GOOD GOD!!! I love this; I'm so happy with this application right now it's like getting laid! I don't remember the last time I sat in a vehicle with just a subwoofer playing and actually enjoyed it. Hell, I don't think I ever have until today. has anybody in here used rainbow audio or have some info about them?

im trying to find good mids and highs for my truck my buddy just bought oxygen audio 6 1/2 and there loud as hell but they were $100 a piece and they dont come in pairs. Anyone know of good mids and highs that come in pairs and are not super expensive.

Just wondering why the majority of subwoofers have a lower QTS and designed more for a vented enclosure. Yes, you will see maybe +3db from a vented vs a sealed similar enclosure, but is that always that crucial? I've built plenty of sealed enclosures in the past that have sounded great, and had great curves. Plus the you have the advantage of a smooth roll off, and generally allows for higher power usage with its better cone control. Then you have to think that many users don't know about subsonic filters and freq tuning. I'm not being biased towards any enclosure, they all have their uses whether sealed, vented, band pass, isobaric, free air, etc but it just seems that…

I was wonderin what would be louder a 13" W7 or a 15" Brahma? recently bought a brahma nd a friend of mine is buying a w7 he bet me his would be louder. if i hook up my magnum 15" to my phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1 will it be ok or should i buy a weaker amp??

Alright well I have a very low budget for all door speakers and some bass... I definatley need the 5.25 door speakers. And I can't decide to either get 2 12s and leave my 6x9s out so it's just holes there. Or should I amp a set of 6x9s and no subs? My budget it around 400 for everything, speakers wires amps everything... It's all going in a 98 olds mobile alero. Thanks for any help you can give!

I've been looking for a good setup, but very confused about what I'm looking for. After reading a lot of forums I found that a lot of people are suggesting the tangbands and fountek's. I looked at some website and found these speakers. Wanted to know if this would be a good setup or not.... Tang Band W6-1721 Tang Band W5-704D Tang Band 25-1166SJ Each door will have 1 W6-1721, 2 W5-704D, and 1 25-1166SJ. Any feedback would be great.

I drive a Chevy Silverado 2002 extended cab, and I have the box built for 2 sundown X15s that sundown recommends on their website. My question is, will anything be effected if I put the subs on top facing the roof and the port in the middle facing my windshield. Or should I have it subs up, port up? I'm just wondering if there is a difference and what would be best. Thanks

hi, i am getting ready to put in me xxx comps in since i blew the tweeter in my current speakers. ( The newer type r's) i am wondering which amp would you choose if you where only runnning front speakers. Sundown Saz 100.2 and do passive with the came in the box x overs Sundown Saz 100.4 and do active ( the only thing that is turning me away is i want 200 rms @ 2ohm) Kicker Sx700.4 and do active ( see above for the turn off) Kicker sx900.4 and do active ( the only bad thing is the Price) Eclipse XA4000 and do active( 2 thing wrong not sure if the x over can run a 2 way active and the 175 watts) and if it makes any difference i am getting a pioneer 980bt for the headunit…

right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?

I've got about 4.5 cubes gross to work with sealed for 3 10s. I have 500w rms per sub. I want it to get loud and also pick up the lows exceptionally well for a sealed box. Would like to keep it around $150 per driver. Subs considered: Mach5 ixl Dayton mkIII Audiopulse epic

So I found an Orion 2500D, and its getting shipped out tomorrow... hopefully I can't really decide what to go with for the build, getting the most DB's outa what space I have... So ask the expert time.... Its a jeep cherokee, this is the space I have to work with... 43.5" in between the wheel well, 25" deep to tailgate, and 20" to top of back seat... that nets almost 13 cubes, before sub disp., port, 2x the walls...ect. if I go to 24" high, it gets to 15.5 cubes.... but would like to stay as low as possible. I would like to do 2, 18"s if possible, but feel this might be choking them... of course, Fi audio of some kind, or even the Havocs...which is fi anyway right? th…

right now iv got a ported box that is 2.5 cuft after all displacements tuned to 33hz that im using with my 12" fi bl. do you guys think it would work good with a 12" fi btl if i were to upgrade so i dont have to buy another box. have anyone had any experiece with a btl 12" in a 2.5 cuft box? the site shows the same cutout dimentions and the same rec cuft. So what do you guys think of this desision.

Installed my Next FLS 6 6.5" shallow mount components today. I decided to install the FLS's rather than the "regular" ALS comps because I have a fetish for shallow-mount designs and seeing how they perform Only have about 30 minutes with them so far.....put them through some tracks I'm familiar with and tossed in my IASCA test disk for a few tracks. Installed them in my doors; mid ran infinite baffle, tweeter in the stock location about 6" down from the sail-panel. Powered through the passives off of two channels of my Coustic DR-514 (50w RMS per side). HU is an Eclipse 8053. Low end is taken care of by a 12" Rl-p. First impressions: Tonality is pretty darn good.…
