Greetings, So surprised my username still works. Through college and the years following I stepped away from the audio realm. I am way out of the loop for the latest and greatest but frankly I no longer care about the audio industry though I still enjoy good music. I recently inherited this truck and out of memory of my grandfather and general practicality I am not going to modify it heavily. It has the Bose system and its fine for now. If I ever upgrade the headunit it will be to add navigation and music library. The only thing it is missing is bottom end, mostly because I deafened myself to low frequency in my highschool days. So I am…

Anybody have an idea how the 12" icon will sound for rock in and enclosure tuned this high or have any suggestions for an enclosure/tunning made for rock/metal. I read this woofer gets real low but was wondering if i could build another enclosure to swap out just for rock and metal.

I am looking for a decent sq sub that also has spl that will work fine for a daily driver, prob is gonna be in a slot ported box made to specs by me. Doesn't matter how many watts its gonna be, I'm gonna buy the sub then buy a amp to match the sub, looking for 300-400 range for price. iI had some idea's like a BTL possibly? Not too sure with the higher end of subs because I use to run alpine, kickers, diamond audio, and jl audio and time to switch it up to the bad boys. Also another question what is a good hz for daily?

My friend drives a Chrysler Sunfire, and is looking at replacing the door speakers, along with the speakers in the back deck; His budget is ~500, but has to cover a new radio, and both pairs of speakers. Due to him not wanting to purchase a sub right now, what would be a quality set to invest in? He listens to a lot of rock and alternative and is concerned about how well the new setup will handle the drums and guitars.

Hey guys I have a buddy who blow his midbass and he says his other midbass isalso starting to go. He told me a bunch of stuff and i will post it all here! basically i am baffled about it and though maybe someone can see somethign wrong with his setup! thanks for your time everyone and any and ALL help! here goes what he told me! let me know if you need any mroe info! " My head unit is the stock unit that comes with my 2009 Mazda 3, so I have this signal feeding into an MTX ReQ, which then splits the signal to sub and full range RCA's. The full range RCA's then feed into an Audio Control EQL ( http://www1.dealtime.com/xPO-Audiocontrol-EQL ) This ensures the signal that…

Ok so here is my question. I am reconing my sub. My friend has leftover glue from his recone. He ordered this glue from Fi and it came with a bottle of activator. He gave me this glue for my recone and I need to know if its okay to use with out the activator. i placed a bead of it to dry and it hardened up, Do I really need it to complete my recone process. If not I have a tube of Goop that I want to use for the repair, I was told its okay to use it for the recone. If there is anything else that I can get locally please let me know. I did google to find out any info but couldnt find it. Thanks in advance.

Well, after about 2 months of my 12" SI Magnum sitting in a box in the corner of the living room, i got around to building a box and getting it in the car. This sub is replacing my 3 10" Orion XTR's in a 3.1 ft^3 sealed box, some pretty big shoes to fill. The box about 1.3 ft^3 net, sealed, and stuffed about 50% with a mix of fiberglass insulation and cotton stuffing. The amp is an Orion XTRPRO 1000, running at 1 ohm for a full 1k output. Well, first impression. Wow, this thing is tight!! I listen to metal about %99.9 of the time so this was a big deal to me. This sub sounds flawless. I went through about 10 CD's, from Fear Factory to Lamb of God, and it has handl…

Alright so I have had my 18" fi ssd for about a year and want to upgrade, A guy locally on c-list is selling a 12" Fi BTL and I thought about buying that as an upgrade to my 18" ssd.. Question is, will i really gain much from this upgrade? I believe it is a new btl n2 series 12". Since my current sub is an 18" and tuned to 32hz it hits pretty freaking loud and low, So im just trying to see if any of you with more experience in different subs know if it will be noticeably louder?? its only a 12? Currently I am running a Sundown SAX-1200d but i could also sell that/trade for an AQ2200 if needed to get more power for the btl if it will even help or make a difference. I just…

I've been thinking about upgrading my system sometime next year. I'm thinking about getting 2 10" fcons when they are released. I should have the space for a ported enclosure but don't want to pay a shop to do it and I think it would be fun to do myself. The thing is that I don't have a lot of experience with wood working. Would it be hard for someone like myself to build their own enclosure? I'm not trying to do anything fancy just a rectangular box. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get my hands on all the tools needed. Would I need any other power tools besides a circular saw and a jig saw?

I've got factories in the rear doors now, powered by a couple channels on my Crossfire VR404 (just wired it in when I did my fronts, just in case I'd upgrade in the future. easier all at one time). But I love the midbass kick, and I want more. Would it be ok to get some good midbass drivers and put back there? How high in frequency does it need to go before it gets directional? maybe 60 up to 250 hz or so ok? I also need some suggestions, probably 6.5". something that isn't any deeper than my JL XR 6.5's in front, but I'll have to look up their dimensions. I'm also thinking about ditching the ported box that my SI D2 is in, maybe try sealed. But I hate giving up t…

This is the system I have designed on paper looking to make it in my vehicle. I'm looking to get opinions from other car audio nuts just to make sure my ideas aren't mislead. Here goes: Vehicle: 2002 Ford Explorer XLT Subwoofer: Fully Loaded 18" Fi BL Amplifier: Sundown Audio SAE-1200D Head unit: Alpine IXA-W404 Box: Custom built tuned to 31hz Wiring: Big 3 Connection using Knukonceptz 1/0 wire Battery in front: Optima YellowTop Mids-Highs- Taking suggestions on components and amplifiers to run them! This field is so wide! Please let me know what you guys think and I would love some constructive criticism. I will gladly take all suggestions in to consideration! None of th…

I know most of you guys probably don't use Kicker, but I found an awesome deal from an awesome local seller for a pair of the Kicker RS 6.5 inch components and a Kicker ZX350.2 amp. No stores sell the higher models of Kicker gear so I was wondering how you think these components would be?

I know the 302's are meant for off axis in door applications. Does this mean that the mid and tweet are BOTH aimed off axis? Just aiming straight across at each other, right? I just want to get this right. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Jim
