Subwoofers / Speakers

Currently I have the CDT classic 6.5" mids with 480 x-over and tw25 main tweeter silk and I think the T1 silk upstage tweeter. I was thinking of upgrading the mid with the M6 and upgrading the x-over with the ES-200 but I'm not sure because of how bad the midbass is on what I'm using now. My highs are nice and loud but I have no midbass. So while thinking about this I've also considered scrapping CDT all together and going with a Dynaudio 242 GT set-up or even Morel HYbrid Ovations. i just picked up an extra 4ohm mj18 and i guess i will be throwing it into my tahoe....since i have a little room to play with i was wondering if one of you guys could please give a good box recommendation for this sub or is the standard 4.5 ported all i need....i would like to have the sub and port facing in the same direction because i just like that combo a lil better....thanks

hello im new here my name is chad i have a sony xplod HU kicker 12 and an oldschool targa hexfet 500 watt amp in my 93 civic 4 door well when ever i turn my car on my sub starts thumping moving in and out about 2 or 3 inchs doesnt look too good but if i wait it will quite down and not move as much. now when i make any changes to my radio change tracks on my cd change radio stations any thing it will start doing it again untill music begins to play then it will stop. when i turn my car off it thumps too what could it be im so confused and when im listining to a cd and i turn the volume all the way donw it sounds like thunder in my trunk

i currently have 3 JL 10w0's and i need a change lol. I have a 600 rms amp at 2 ohms. I wanna get a louder system but still keep my same amp. I can't decide between a 12" RE SE or 2 12" Alpine R's. I found great deals on both so the price isn't a problem. I am also going to be building a ported box for the one i choose. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

im looking for loud, clean, hard hitting bass. listen to rap/ hip hop and got up to 3cf to work with. im using an mtx 1501d (1500watts @ 1ohm). not sure if these three are on the same level, but from searching on the site seems like these might be what im looking for, now i just need to choose whats best. thinking about doing 2 10s ported or 1 12 ported, possibly a 15 but dont want to add too much weight. figure maybe 2 10 bl's or icons ported or 1 12 dd ported. which of the three would be loudest? any other subs better than these? what would you guys recommend in the space i have available?

I have just recieved my fi-Q 15 and im trying to work out the box specs. I wanna do 4 cuft3 at 30hz... The forum recommended the following under the technical info... Q 15

My RL-S 12" arrives tuesday. I made a post on ca.com which I asked for a design for 2-3 cu. ft. and everyone replied saying I need a much larger box. Although, SS and SSA recomends 2 cu ft minimum and 2.5 optimal. Does anyone happen to know what the smallest cu. ft. box I can put this driver in for good results? Not looking for a perfect response curve, just something decent.

wanting to do 2 12" in a suv. will be amped wth around 1800wts. cant decide which one to go with . soundsplinter rlp's or fi q's. they will be used in a low tuned ported box. just want some feedback or comments on the two.

Between two 15" CVXs or two FI Qs. Do you think that off the same power, 1000 watts each, both in a ported box in the same vehicle, (tahoe), which do you think could get louder? I know it depends on the install but they're basically going in the same setup. Which do you think would get louder and sound better doing it? I think it would probably be the Q but I havent heard either.

Im wondering what sub i should use with a Kicker ZX750.1 . Im gonna be getting the amp with my next check (i hope) and im wondering what sub i should use with it. Im looking for a single sub setup and prefer using a 12". I have a RE SE atm but i was wondering if there is somthing that will do good off this power, 750 rms @ 2ohm. Ill be using ported and have a good amount of space for a box. My budget is around 200 for a sub. I want somthing thats gonna sounds loud to the ear, dont realy care about on the mic (dont think there are many comps around my area anyway). the 8s im considering so far are either ss rl-i8 when ever they come back in stock or the crystal cmp 8 im just not sure which to go with are there any other nice 8s out there?

Hey guys, Just need a few opinions. For the new season, I'm going to go with 2 15's instead of 1. Only thing is, I'm using RE Audio right now, shud I just buy a second RE SX, or I've been looking at the Memphis MOJO 15's or the Digital Design 9515's or the Fi BTL 15's w/ full options. I'm going to be running 2 SAZ-1500d's strapped from Jacob at Sundown . Which ones would be the best bang for my buck? I'll be using this as strictly a SPL setup only. Well, I finished my sono tube, now its on to another more challenging fiberglass build. This time around I'm going with two 10's and I am giving my self a budget of $250 for subs, and $250-300 for an amp. I'm looking for a pair of subs that will give me great spl, with some sq as well. I listen to a variety of music from rap, hiphop, to rock, country, and even jazz etc. They will be ported, and I'm thinking roughly around 1cft each sub (not decided yet). I would like them to be pretty efficient too. I'm not interested in the walmart variety... nor competition worthy subs. Hey guys.. I was all set up to do 261's for L&R and a 61 for the center, but now I decided I want to do a 261 there as well.. So at the very least I'd like to get ahold of a PCB for the 261 crossover, or better yet a complete crossover. If I must I'd be willing to buy the whole kit, and then sell or trade my 61 components. I'd assume the extremis is the same in the 61 and 261? Are they still available? I wan't really woried about it until I found out the old speaker kids got cancelled! I need some calculations or box and port volumes for my maw 15s,so when they arrive,i can start my box.I plan on 1 big box divided into 2 equal chambers ported.i put in the port calculator and it said for a 15 in driver w/xmax of 13mm 3cuft@30hz like the specs for the maw 15 call for it says port needs to be minimum of 40.5 sq inches and 37 in long to get 30hz.what box and port size does Mark recommend for max output and sq?and is 3 cubes include displacement of sub and port or is it 3 cubes plus port and sub disp.thanks for the help....Dave
