I need some calculations or box and port volumes for my maw 15s,so when they arrive,i can start my box.I plan on 1 big box divided into 2 equal chambers ported.i put in the port calculator and it said for a 15 in driver w/xmax of 13mm 3cuft@30hz like the specs for the maw 15 call for it says port needs to be minimum of 40.5 sq inches and 37 in long to get 30hz.what box and port size does Mark recommend for max output and sq?and is 3 cubes include displacement of sub and port or is it 3 cubes plus port and sub disp.thanks for the help....Dave

What do you guy think of the older 4 spoke cast frame xtant x series round subs. Model x412. THey seem well built with a beefy magent, and 4 spoke basket. I can get a pair in mint condition. I was wondering how good they were. How much they ran new. And how they sound and what you think of them.. Also what would you pay for a pair of the 12's in like new shape...

For years I've been obsessed with InfraLow bass. OK, not sub-sonic anymore...now 20-30Hz. I've had so many debates, and I've gotten so much critisizm for tuning "too low". The best way to argue would be...is there information on music CD's from 20-30Hz? I've had this discussion before, but no one had any solid proof. People with frequency spectrum analyzers said "Akon and Young Jeezy's Soul Survivor only goes down to 33Hz". When you play it on an analyzer, it shows a PEAK low of 33Hz. This is a new one to me. So it got cold here and I turned my car stereo on about a week ago. The right midrange in the kick sterted to make a static/crackling sound. I immediatly turned the radio off until I could check it over. I checked my wiring and everything is secure. I turned the radio back on and the problem is not there anymore. The speaker then worked and no static. Two weeks go by and its randomly doing it again. I am at a loss. Ive checked everything but the impedance of the driver. Who knows maybe its on its death bed. So i blew my morel supremo's.. 440$. Nice. Anyway what other tweeters are out there that sound great but are cheaper. I was on madisound and was looking at other morel drivers. The tweeters are so much cheaper then what i paid for these supremo's. I still want to get them but they are expensive and now i am questioning if they are worth it. Any tweeter recommendations would be appreciated. I am running a pioneer 9800 headunit off a sundown 100.4 amp. My mids are SEA excel's.

Just wanted some input and opinions !! If you were going to design and build your own Subwoofers from a basic entry level to an elite SPL driver. What would be your main concerns ? High BL ? Great Heat Venting ? Insane Power Handling ? Light Moving Mass ? High Sensitivity ? Stiff Suspension ? Thanks !!

Anybody use/seen/heard the Lanzar opti6c comp set?? I know all Lanzar makes except the Opti line is Junk, but the Optiu amps are well built. Hi. I am building a box for 4 of the MJ-18's. They will be used for home theater and music. So I think im going with 4.5 cubic feet each and tuned to 30hz. Should each subwoofer have its own chamber or should they all be together. If they are together how many ports should I use and what dimensions should they be. Thanks alot!

Now that i'm going to have big power available in the home setup i thought about upgrading to an 18. And i found an 05 xxx Any thoughts on using it for the home setup ? There also is a chance i could go IB.

the new SEs say SE near the surround where JL has their W7 logos on their sub and i dont like it. is there a way i can remove it with some kind of cleaner or something. want it to look perfect, so no painting or something cheesy like that thanks

Okay I just received my Mag and had some questions about best practices as far as setup goes. I have a 20.1 pushing the Mag so there is no lack in power. My question is in regards to the wiring and getting the Mag to the lowest impedance possible for more power. From reading I know the Mags are Dual 2 Ohm so how can I lower this? Currently I have the Mag wired as such....please tell me if my thinking is correct (we are talking about one sub here): Jumped a wire from positive terminal to positive terminal on the speaker to the positive terminal of the external connector. Ok I know you guys can get WAY too technical (not to mention harsh) for me but I'm going to try this anyway. I am currently running an active 2-way front stage plus two (sealed,downfired) 12" TC-9's in a Chevy Colorado extended cab. See profile. Although I am pleased with this setup I'm still lacking that "something" that makes it near perfect to my taste. I have a modded mojo 2500D on the way and I'm very interested in these subs. On paper they seem to be exactly what I want. If I get two the amp will be ran @ 0.5ohm with somewhere around 1700w per sub. I can only afford one for now so I will probably run it at 4 ohm. Could a single Havoc handle 3kw if I wired it at 1ohm? On a side note, I see alot of vented boxes with the port at one end and the sub(s) at the other end. I usually place the port between the subs in a dual sub setup. Is there any gain from porting at the end of a box?

Is there any companies out there that would be willing to custom make a recone kit with a high roll surround? Say I wanted to recone a BTL or something or that sort, but I really wanted a high-roll rubber surround. I know TC makes their subs with them, as does SoundSplinter with their Rl-p 18, but I want to do it with a sub like the BTL, DD 9500, or something else in an 18.

Between two 15" CVXs or two FI Qs. Do you think that off the same power, 1000 watts each, both in a ported box in the same vehicle, (tahoe), which do you think could get louder? I know it depends on the install but they're basically going in the same setup. Which do you think would get louder and sound better doing it? I think it would probably be the Q but I havent heard either.

I need help deciding on these.i got a punch 1000bd and it does 811 rms @ 2ohms(this would be for the mj-18s) and 1215@1ohm for the maw 15s.I got the whole bed of my truck for box room.so i could build a little bigger more efficient box for the 18s since my power is a little low.I got plenty for the 15s,i was just considering the 18s because ive never had 18s and i like LOW bass.no contests just me listening and maybe a little showin off at work.Which would be better for my taste.18s would be awesome if i got enuff to power them.but if the 15s would be louder with 400 more watts than the 18s i may go that route.ive emailed mark at mach 5 and havent gotten any responses.tha…

For SPL use only what in your opinion is the best 12" sub for comp. use and what type of power will they take.

I was wondering if I purchased 1 Fi BTL 15" if it would hit harder the 2 Type Rs and what would also be a good amp to power the Fi BTL or would 2 Fi BL 12"s be better then the 1 15"

Im sure this isnt the right section. But its been a few months since I have posted here due to my new job and everything. Anyway. I am buying two Mach 5 Maw-15's And I was wondering is it possible to fit a 4.0 cu ft box in my trunk. I am driving a 1996 Ford Taurus GL. I would get the 12's But the 350 power rating kinda makes me speculate. I currently have 2 Memphis 12 PR's and I hate them. But the rating on them is 250rms, So Im not sure if the maw-12's would be much better in terms of output. But hey what do I know. Also I dont have the recommended sealed enclosure size for the 12's. ARG please help. I want Mach 5's I am driving a '96 Taurus GL. whats my best bet?
