Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Hello everyone, I currently have a pair of Image Dynamics CTX65CS components in my front door speakers and Type S's in my rear doors that're being powered off of my alpine headunit. I will soon be ordering the 12" Dcon Single 4 ohm to place in the 2.0 cubic foot box I have that has a port tuned to 32hz. I thought I got a pretty good deal on it, and it looks sturdy enough to hold the DCON with it's double baffled front! The amp i'm using to power my front components and the subwoofer is the Cadence DCA 4100 which I also linked below. Correct me if i'm wrong, But I have to bridge two channels of this amplifier together if I want my subwoofer to be seeing roughly 250 RMS at…

So I've been running my RLp 15 for 7 years now with no problems. Thing still rocks. But I've grown tired of my current box and amp and would like to change things up a bit. Currently I'm running a sealed enclosure with the sub inverted along with a Directed 1500D. I'm looking at a new amp and another sealed enclosure but this time I'm going with a standard box with the sub installed with the basket inside. My question is this: Should I continue to run the sub at 1 ohms or should I wire it to run at 4 ohms? The reason I ask is back when I bought my sub I was chatting with Mike about my box design and amp and he told me I should really pair the sub up with a good 500-600 wa…

  3. Hello everyone, i just had a few quick questions. My friend recently bought 2 kicker comp. vr series 12" subs i believe they were, and hes running them off of a 600 watt amp, i dont know the name of it tho or the specific stats. His car sounds lovely from the inside and outside. I keep telling everyone about stereointegrity and to buy their subs but none of my friends listen to me... they all think im dumb because i dont have one yet(due to lack of funds), and so they dont believe me when i tell them what it can really do and they think im just bullsh*tting. i want to show them and make them jelous. (thats not a main priority of mine to getting this sub, but it would …

  6. I was initially going to run the Peerless SLS's to start out with but since i am limited on area for midrange and they are currently not in the best locations i decided to go with a dome for the off axis response and sealed chamber. That will be either the Dayton RS52, or the MB-Q 95-6814 (2" Ti dome) until i can afford the Dyn MD140 Anyway i have heard a few people say that they don't really play low enough/the SLS won't play WELL high enough, i was looking into the Dayton RS225 8" mids. They seem to be very nice and since i am constantly ordering from parts express, its the easy and cheap solution A member on another forum has a mint set of DLS Ultimate Iridiums for 175…

So I have a 2007 crew cab silverado which is limited to what I can put under the seat Would you guys go with 3 8" SA-8s or 1 12" Fi BL with all upgrades in a ported box? I listen to rock, country and some alternative. I like hard hitting bass with the ability to get a deep rumble I see the SA-8s have a pretty good xmax compared to most 8s so will this allow it to hit deeper than most other 8s? Need to know today because of the sale going on on the SA-8s

Wired my sub + to + - to - and took 1 + and 1 - out to the amp. Dual 2 ohm icon is the sub. I know I hooked it up like that on the speaker but completely forgot which wire was negative and positive lol. Rather not pull the sub at this point. 1. What is another method of figuring out what is what and 2. What kind of damage if any can come from this? At the amp I'm reading exactly 1.0 no matter how I hook the probes up to it

I have a set of 8 Ohm Solo Baric subs I am looking to run on a Mono Amp. I used to have a set of Solo's that were 4 ohm that I ran on a US 1000x. Can't remember what the setup was but I know I had a neg from one sub running to pos to the other sub, then one terminal pos going to the pos on amp and neg going to the amp. Is that just a bridge Mono? Would that have been at 1 ohm? My question is, If I do that on my 8 ohm subs what Ohm rating will I be at. and also what is the exact wiring configuration. I am having an extremely hard time finding a US 1000x amp. I am considering running a JL500/1 does anyone have any other amps they like, I am going towards a SQ setu…

I ran across this video today, and it made me wonder if this guy was talking out of his ass or not. What he's saying does make sense to me, talking about a square has more surface area to push more air out then a round woofer would. But if that was the case, then how come almost no manufacturer on this site even offers a square in any of their lineups? This part didn't make sense to me, because from what this guy is saying, everybody would be designing square woofers right?

I currently have 2 Sundown E-12s in the Trunk (Dual 4ohm) wired down to 1ohm on the amplifier. (1700rms at 1ohm) I am going to pick up my old Kicker CVR10s (Dual 2ohm) and put them in my backseats... Is there ANY way I can hook up the 2 10s to the amplifier for added bass? It would only be for a day or so, but just for fun. I just want to know how I should wire the 2 10s to get the most out of my amp. Thank you!

Just curious if anyone here has any experience with these speakers. Everything I've found on google is in German for the most part. The set I was looking at was the SLX 265.20 X-Plain component speakers. From what I've gathered, these are the entry level speakers from Rainbow. Just wondering how these performed compared to other component sets in this price range. I can get the component set for $175.00 shipped.
