Subwoofers / Speakers

I ahve a ford explorer 96, which im going to put 1, 15" mag d2 in for now and then another one later after the rest of the install stuff is done, has any one ever stopped using the filler rear speakers? Im planning on puting two sets of comps in the front and a 4" comp set in the panels where the roll bar is, so the back is useless? would this sound ok?

to anyone out there claiming to hit a certain number with their solo X 12's do me a favor and OWN their a$$. i am getting kinda sick of seeing the crap floating around and hope i dont have to see it here. maybe if we nip it in the bud in every forum we all visit we wont have to worry about it spreading here. Now if they say their solo X 12 is valid because of a red or black X in fingernail polish, let em believe it, me a tracy are just making a couple bucks off the sucka's we got enough to retire yet tracy? B)

Any thoughts on which one of these 15" subs would be helpful. RE Audio SE '08 series aluminum spoke basket design---OR---Oz Audio Matrix Elite series??? Both of these are the same price which makes it even more difficult to choose. Looking for SQ so it will be going into a sealed box. Both are 4 ohm dvc wired to a 2 ohm load as my amp is only 2 ohm stable (boston acoustics gt-28 1100x1 @ 2 ohms)

I have a rockford amp and M5 15" sub how do I need to wire it up?

Ok I purchased a new car and am taking out my old audio (which won't fit into the new car) and trying to purchase some new stuff (or used) for my new car. Now I have about 1.3 cu ft of space to work with for a sub... Not much at all but I want good SQ that can get LOUD.... I listen to Rock, Rap, Hip hop, Techno, etc.... Now I really like the 12" JLw6v2 which I would do in a sealed enclosure but I don't know if I can justify the HUGE markup they put on the sub... Im really considering these subs. I have a 12" Fi/SX hybrid right now and am looking to get 2 10's instead. Im contemplating 2 soundsplinter rli-10's, 2 Fi SSD 10's, or 2 Lv3 10's from DC. What would be the recommended box size ported for 2 of these 10's? I'll be powering it with an ED nine.1 Also what would be the total price for 2 Lv3 10's shipped to 70051?

I'm guessing it is vehicle dependent, but when you all are trying to plan out your enclosures. How do you all map out your graph on winisd if you even look at that. Say I was trying to build a box for my xcon that is not here yet and I wanted to build a box that was great for metal, but I still wanted a bump in the low end. What would your graphs look like, sealed or ported?

Im getting my older SI reconned since its blown. My question is, whats the BEST for a 15" SI sealed? What airspace before displacment would yield best results?

hey everyone...so i just installed my new audiopipe ap15001d about a week ago and am loving it! this icon is a totally different beast now! for a single 12'' it makes things rattle like crazy! i have set the gain with a dmm for about 900 watts or so (my box is 2.5 cubes tuned to 32hz with 37.5 sq inches of port so i dont have it at the full 1000 because the box is the manufactures maximum size) but recently i have noticed some poping and cracking noises coming from the sub during certain songs. now it doesnt do it on every song and there are about 3-4 that are making it do this. Okay so i am getting a new system and i have few questions. 1. Why would i want 2 ohm subs over 1 ohm? 2. If i run 2 Subs to a mono amp what ohm do i want the subs to be? 3. Does everyone use both voice coils of subs? Whats the difference between using 1 and 2 coils. Thanks, Drake

This is something I am saving up for, so semi budget minded. I currently have 2 JL Audio 12w3v3 in a sealed box about 3.6 cub with 1500 rms MA Audio amp. I want to upgrade amp and subs. Subs will help decide what amp I get, I am trying to decide between a pair of Sundown SA-12 and SSA ICON 12. I have been looking and studing both for a while but cant decide since I have heard great about both, and looking for some advice to persuade me one way or another. This will be for a daily driver setup listening to rap/rock mostly. I prefer to stay with a sealed box but a new box will be made for the new subs. If it helps this is going in a 95 Mazda B3000 xcab.

I came across a good deal on a set of RE 6.5" components. Not the XXX model just the RE model. Looking for some input from guys using these/have used these in the past. Thinking about swapping these in place of my Kappa 6x9's since one of them is flaky. I'm not looking to compete or anything. This is in my daily driver and will be powered by my Alpine V-drive (60x4) I think it's more like 25-30 rms head unit unless these need there own amp.

Including batteries, subs, amps, alts, etc, what is the best way i could get a decent hairtrick done without spending $7,000? I would prefer quality brands like kinetik, fi, re, hifonics is fine if the amp is worth it, im sure you all know which brands are good enough just no sony explod shit lol. Okay, so I got my 12' Pioneer subs a few weeks ago and I put them into an old box that I made for my other system a while back. After a few days of listening to music on my current setup, I noticed that my woofers were not hitting the lows AT ALL and I am a big fan of C&S Music so this was really disappointing for me. I ran all the parameters if the sub in bass box 6 and my recommended tuning frequency is like 21 Hz. Am I doing something wrong here? Also, Could anyone really help me out and just give me a quick rough draft of a suitable box design for this application. Alright, I honestly don't believe in breaking in subs usually. I've never done it with anything I've owned and never had a problem. Well I just placed an order for a second sa12. I currently have one I used by itself for probably 6 months so its nice and loose. Plan is to pair it up with the new one...will I have any issues since 1 is nice and broke in and the other will be brand new? Will I need to loosen up the new one first or will it just happen on its own over time?

I've had a 15 inch ICON in my old explorer for the past two years and loved every second of it. But that car is now gone. I'm planning on getting a GCON that will go in a mustang. Obviously the trunk isn't nearly as big in a mustang, so I'm debating between a 10 inch or a 12 inch. The specs say a 12" optimal ported box is 3 cubic feet, and 2.5 cubic feet for the 10". These are bigger recommended box sizes than the icons of the same size...so why do the GCONs need such a big box? Just wondering cause I'm playing with limited room!

What was the suggested volume for the Claw Mag in a sealed box. I think it was 0.5 - 1.5, what do you guys suggest? Also what is the mounting depth for the claw mag? Thanks!

Okay so i got a new car and I dont have enough room for the maw-15's anymore. And from what I seen on the mach 5 website the ixl subs are susbstantialy more powerful than the maw series. I have a '06 pontiac g6 and I'm looking to get a pair of one of the ixl's. im looking to go as big as i can and get away with it in my given trunk space. The 10's look extremely good for the price and power. Would a pair of those out-do my maw-15's?

Sobim upgrading the headunit and all 4 speakers on the wifes silverado...my question is if i should buy the foam baffle or not? What is the point of it besides water protection? Also if the head unit says that the impendance range is 4-8ohms but the speakers i bought are 2 ohms will they fry? Or am i ok?

Hello all. I can't remember for the life of me but does a coil impedance tend to rise slightly or fall slightly after a sub has broken in. Planning my second sub soon and the first was supposed to be dual 1. Showed up with one at 1.4 and one at 1.6 brand new. Last i checked one was a 1.8 and the other a 2 Kinda confused me as I had ordered a dual 1. Dc offers a dual 1.4 and I wonder if they hadn't sent me the wrong load to begin with.
