Okay I just received my Mag and had some questions about best practices as far as setup goes. I have a 20.1 pushing the Mag so there is no lack in power. My question is in regards to the wiring and getting the Mag to the lowest impedance possible for more power. From reading I know the Mags are Dual 2 Ohm so how can I lower this? Currently I have the Mag wired as such....please tell me if my thinking is correct (we are talking about one sub here): Jumped a wire from positive terminal to positive terminal on the speaker to the positive terminal of the external connector. Jumped a wire from negative terminal to negative terminal on the speaker to the negative terminal of th…

Is there any companies out there that would be willing to custom make a recone kit with a high roll surround? Say I wanted to recone a BTL or something or that sort, but I really wanted a high-roll rubber surround. I know TC makes their subs with them, as does SoundSplinter with their Rl-p 18, but I want to do it with a sub like the BTL, DD 9500, or something else in an 18.

lol have yall missed me any? (i know, you havent) anyways, im getting closer to finishing my setup in the mini...i promise ill listen this time, i just wanna hear your suggestions on crossovers for my tweets. the amp will be a MTX TA7402. 300w x 2 @ 1 ohm. will be 16 tweeters, 8 per channel, in parallel, so each channel will be running 8 tweets @ 1 ohm, (300/8 = roughly 38w per tweet) this amp has a pretty nice HPF built in from what it looks like too. so, instead of running one of those 3.3uF caps for a "crossover" what do you suggest? i know i should keep the slope high, around like 36dB or something right (so they dont blow?) what should i cross them at though, and w…

got this recently. decided to snap some pics for you fellas. it's a hertz audio hi-energy 12. enjoy. pretty nice and simple cone with the Hertz logo on the dustcap. brightass orange magnet rubber boot. Natural fiber cone ftw. pretty plain looking butt. i'm still keeping my RL-p 15. more than likely the RLp will see home theater duties. box build will soon follow.

Heres the dilemma, i was just driving home from my friends when i noticed a burning electrical smell from the rear of my car. When i got home i opened the trunk and proceeded to check my dustcap to see if it was hot but it was ice cold and the stink was coming from my port. The sub was playing undistorted still and is fairly new. Should i worry about this? Sub feels fine and my gains were set by ear. No noticable clipping. Any comments, advice, or otherwise would be wonderful... Thanks! Sub: RE SX 15 - 4 cuft box tuned to 34 Amp: MA HC2001 Source: Pioneer DEH-7800

I'm thinking about doing an IB set-up for space reasons. What can I expect sound-wise when compared to sealed and ported enclosures?

k, i figure that my best bet for a sub is to get an enclosed subwoofer. which of these in your opinion are the best: kicker L5 10" solobaric, 12" kicker compVT, sony xplod 12" shallow, or the jl audio 12" power wedge thanks to everyone

Got a friend with an extended cab s-10. He just bought, for a mere 40 dollars, the box(two chambers in one box at about 1.25 cubes a piece), an MTX thunder 6000 12" 8 ohm and a Sony Xplod 1200w 12" 4ohm. He wants SPL and I'm suggesting that he cut out the center divider, build a new front board that has only one 12" hole, and port it. It'd be roughly 2.5 cubes without the displacement of the port and sub. The amp will most likely be something cheap like a Crunch 1200.2. Another problem is that one sub is 8 ohm, and the other 4 ohms...not good?

Well i just sold off my XXX that i no longer need and after paying off some of the stuff for my bass race van i have about 300 dollars to put in a new front stage in silverado. Currently im running Kicker SS65.2's active off a 880PR and Sundown SAX-100.4. The kicker were just something temp i got from a buddy until i got time to glass my doors up. Well the time has come and im looking to get started right after christmas or new years. I have a 880PR for processing and a Sundown SAX-100.4 for power. So im looking for recommendations on a mid and tweeter for a 2-way. Im going to glass the doors so i dont realy have a restriction or set driver size. Amp power 100rms @ 4 x4 …

I haven't decided between a 12" and a 15" sub. The old phrase "there's no replacement for displacement" keeps coming into my head when I think of getting a twelve. Right now I have a 15" sub, but I think I'd like to save some space. Obviously bigger subs will go down lower and be audible, but in the 30is-100+hz range. Do 15" subs have any advantage over 12" subs. I'd like to find a sub in the ~$200 range give or take. Would you mind recommending me sub for each size or just one. I'd like to know what I'm giving up and gaining by going 12. Obviously I'm gaining space, and giving up some lowend, but will the size affect the musical range? I'm not looking to burp this setup.

I blew one of my mids (Cadence CWM-6). I'm pretty strapped with cash, so I'm either looking at getting a set of the PG RSd comps or getting a pair of MLI-65's and run those with the current Cadence crossover and tweeter. Not sure how that butchered combo will work though, the Cadence rep I contacted wasn't willing to share crossover specs so I have no idea what they are. Also, the Cadence tweeters are very bright for silk domes and I heard the MLI-65's have great midbass but their upper midrange performance isn't very pronounced, so they may not do too well with a bright tweeter. Any opinions?

Some of this was already posted on audiojunkies.com, but I'm posting it here because this is SI's forum and those who don't visit audiojunkies need to know about our news. All of our reps know this info, and they have kept their mouths shut because I asked them to. But now they can divulge anything they want (within reason). Ok, well I guess I should get the biggest thing out of the way and say that the new Mag is going to be 5.5" deep. I'm putting the motor inside a completely new basket on the new Mag's to reduce mounting depth to 5.5". I'm also using XBL^2 to get a super-flat BL curve and maintain our T/S's over the entire band of usable Xmax, which will make the d…
