I am getting some 5 1/4's for my mothers jeep 2006 Wrangler because her roll bar speakers sound like butt. I don't really want to spead more than $50 and have come across a few that I am curious about. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=13539 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=15582 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16666 The problem is that she doesn't have an aftermarket cd player and I know that the stock radio is not putting out the best sound quality or power. But the front stage in her car sounds great and looks like it has a seperate tweet and speaker. Then you at the roll bar speakers and they are t…

Would a RE SX 15" do well in a 2.0-2.5ft^3 Ported Enclosure tuned at like 33-35Hz, how would it sound, good or bad? RE recommends 3ft^3 as compact, but I've read on Tempro that a guy had 4 RE SX 12" in 1.25ft^3 each ported and he said it was very loud and sounded good, so what do you guys think?

I think I've narrowed my choices between these two and I'm wondering what the difference in sound is. I'll be using a Kicker SX1250.1 that has a birthsheet of 1420 watts for power. I'm not 100% decided on what type of box though, a sealed wouldn't be much bigger than the box I already have in there and I'm not sure I would have the space available for a ported box so at the moment I'm leaning more towards sealed of about 2.5-3 ft^3. Im looking for LSQ and more output than I'm getting from my 2 Infinity 12's on about 700 watts. Is one sub likely to get louder or sound much better than the other?

Can anyone recommend some 6.5" components for $200? I need to hurry up and order some before Christmas... The doors are not deadened but the MIGHT be some distant time down the road... I will also get an amp to properly power them... Also, would like to stay away from metal tweets... Will be getting subs in the future... EDIT: When did the shop start selling Diamond Audio? I thought there were no authorized internet dealers? Or did they just get their hands on some so they started selling them? I have been looking at the D661s component set by diamond...

i was wondering what guage wire i have to use on a Fi BL 12" subwoofer to wire it down... im sure there is a technical name for this but all i know to call it is wireing it down to 1 ohm... so the wire i will be using inside of the enclosure to run it to the terminal for power and what guage i will be running to wire off the speaker to 1 ohm.... does it really matter? i have i think 14 guage "speaker wire" maybe it mean that i can use it for everything wired to the speaker but i dont know for sure... any clearing up of this would help a lot... thanks in advance! i will be running a 1600 watt amp BTW

hey guys! I have your typical question for sub comparions again. Im looking at comparing the DC Lab LVL 4 15" subwoofer vs. 18" BL Here are the specs: I have a maximum of 5.5ish cu. ft possible for the subs. I'd run the BL in 5.5 cu ft and the LVL 4 in around 4ish maybe tune them to around...35Hz or so. I have a JBL BP1200.1 to power them. So around...1100 to 1200 watts per sub. The BL would be Fully loaded for daily driving. what do you guys think would perform better in comparison to SPL ouputs? Im thinking the SQ will be around the same maybe? lemme know if you guys have any ideas! I know the sub comparisons are always hard because of all the variables

Alrighty, so I picked myself up a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT AWD a couple weeks ago. It's got navigation and the Boston Acoustics 6 speaker system (which incidentally is not all that bad for factory, but it is still factory...). I plan on keeping the factory headunit. Peripheral makes a line out converter with a harness that connects before the factory amp. So my plans for the rest of the system are as follows: I want to do an active frontstage. I want to use the Sundown 100.4 and use the built in crossovers to begin with and eventually add an outboard crossover (incidentally I wouldn't mind some opinions on a decent active crossover). For woofers I'm going to use Mach5 MLI65's…

im looking for loud, clean, hard hitting bass. listen to rap/ hip hop and got up to 3cf to work with. im using an mtx 1501d (1500watts @ 1ohm). not sure if these three are on the same level, but from searching on the site seems like these might be what im looking for, now i just need to choose whats best. thinking about doing 2 10s ported or 1 12 ported, possibly a 15 but dont want to add too much weight. figure maybe 2 10 bl's or icons ported or 1 12 dd ported. which of the three would be loudest? any other subs better than these? what would you guys recommend in the space i have available?

OK here goes I built a box for one of my subs since one was damaged in shipping and i am waiting for a replacement, Memphis 12'' M3 dvc 4 ohm. It is ported and is 2.0 cubes after port and sub displacement. The port is 2.5 inches wide and 12.5 inches high and 27.75 inches long. can anyone tell my why this does not have hardly any output? I am running a Memphis PR 1.1000 amp it is seeing 2 ohms which according to the owners manual is 600 watts RMS@ 2 ohms. I have already checked the all of the electrical connections, The sub is wired fine no out of phase coil or anything. Now if i put my old subs back in they sound awesome, wtf did i do wrong?

Looking for a quality sub right now for my first system and I'm thinking about a single 12 or 15. Listen to rap mostly when I'm driving but i like to mix it up with classic rock and pop/punk about 25% of the time. I've been told 12s in general are more musical, but will a 15 provide adequate response and accuracy, provided the right enclosure? I'm thinking about an Fi Q or SSA Icon or something similar b/c they've both had great reviews on here...total budget for the sytem(including wires, enclure, electrical upgrades if needed) will be in the $1200-1500 range...not looking to spend more than 50% on the substage(amp and sub). Any big differnces in the size of the driv…

Some of you have seen pics or drawing of the new Mag's basket and read about its shallow 5.5" of mounting depth. You might have also heard about the super-small enclosure requirements. As much as I love my current Mag 12's, and love beating the absolute piss out of them, I have also given a lot of though as to the design in general. The current Mag (the one's we are sold out of) are a decently efficient, are extremely versitile, and have the ability to soak up a LOT of power. That last sentence has a key word in it - soak. I can count on one hand how many times I have bottomed out my pair of Mag's with a 3200 watt amplifier, two big batteries, and an HO alt. And ev…

(I'm going to apologize in advance for run-on sentences and grammatical errors). First off, only been on ssa for a few days now but am overwhelmed at the wealth of information here. This will be my first system and will be going into a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Only installed upgrade has been a pioneer deh p690 headunit, this was done by a local car audio store. I listen mostly to rap/hip-hop and classic rock, bud i'd say 75% rap on a daily basis. I purchased a set of 6.5' focal polyglass v2 components and polk db651s for rear fill ($400 for the focals, $50 for the polk at tweeter, still bnib in my bedroom). Anyway, in the process of amp shopping i almost put …

I tried my hand at designing my ported box for the MAW 10 that will fit behind the seat of my RCSB truck. I have decided to go to 1ft^3 as it recomended to keep things comfrotable. According to my figures using the formula on JL Audio site I reached these figures. Port is a piece of 4" PVC. Box @ 1ft^3 28" port 33.08 Hz 27" port 33.63 Hz 26"=34.20 Hz 25"=34.81 Hz 24"=35.46 Hz Is this right and which one would should I go with for my purposes as a daily driver? And also what should I use as the displacement for the driver? Thanks for yalls help in advance, Aaron

I only have a 4" hole in my door and i need to find a set of mids that will clear. Does anyone know how big the diameter of the magnet+ terminal is? My rainbow mid was exactly 4" and it barely cleared and my AA poly mids didnt clear at all. Heard good things about them and want to give them a try.

Anyone mess with the CDT mid tweets? Can't remember the model numbers. The concept and size sounds cool, but I'm wondering what the DIY realm thinks of it.

Alright to start off I'm new here and I am in no way imposing the w7 to be the end all sub woofer. Well it seems like everyone around me is trying to run the mojo of the w7. I want to sound better and get louder than my uncle. He has a 12w7 ported at 2.25bubes at 32hz on a pdx1000.1 this in my opinion is loud enough. I plan on getting two 10' q's. I am unsure on what to power them with. Probably a sundown 1500d. I can put the subs in boxes about 1 cube net I am not sure on what to tune it to. But Do you think I will be able to out slam his setup?

Hello, I have a friend that just had his sub and amp removed in a unfriendly way from his 2000 Toyota Tundra access cab. He is thinking about putting a new one back in but not visible this time. he was told by a local shop they had a console that could replace his that would have a ten in it. they would of course rape him on the price of that and the install price. I looked around and so far can only find a dual eight under the back seat box. Does anyone have ideas what could work or any other suggestions. He is not proficient with fiberglass or installing. I will do the install but I do not have the time to do a comprehensive install that will take days to do. thanks in…

Ok maybe I am making a mistake thinking I'm going to be able to run a good active crossover system on my first system ever. I'll start out with what I do know, if I get a good enough head unit I can run active straight off of it, I don't need anything better than that for now. Also I know that I have room for 6.5" speakers in the doors and 1" tweets in the A pillars. But what is the difference between a 2 way and 3 way speaker? Also I have pretty much no way to go listen to quality speakers unless I want to drive about 3 hours to the only decent car audio store around. So I know you are all going to say that I need to hear them myself to decide but that is just out of the…
