Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Hey guys, just bought a double decker pontoon boat and want to throw some Loudspeakers up top for some island parties and raft ups I hit during the summer. I'm shooting for extremely loud and bass heavy (seems to be what most people like) and have a budget of $1k for the setup. I was planning on getting two JBL Eon 15's based off my DJ friend's recommendation but I figured I'd ask here as well. I plan to power the setup with a Honda EU2000i genny (not yet purchased) or perhaps the Ryobi 2000. Also, I'm hoping there exists some way of connecting a blue tooth module directly to the speakers, than controlling wirelessly via phone. Is that possible? Thanks in advan…

  3. I've done about 4 different setups in my single cab Toyota pickup all involving normal subs behind the sea,t but fail in the size of box, ports, and overall SQ. So now Im taking my DD 1508s out and putting them in a different vehicle but want something for my single cab still. I've tried shallow mounts as well and wasn't that impressed with it so I am now leaning on something that's gonna make good bass in a sealed enclosure as small as possible. I haven't done much research on mid-bass subs or speakers and was hoping for somebody to point me in the right direction. There is no way I am going to try and do anything ported anymore...it just wont work, something as smal…

Hey all I just bought a new truck and I'm starting to build/price a new system for it. First things first I'll be getting 2 10's to fit under my extended cab seat. I already have the box so I'm just looking to find the right subs now. What I'm looking for is something along these lines-: -Maximum mounting depth of 6 1/4" -Quality>sheer volume. (but being able to pound would be a plus) -They will be in a sealed inclosure with approximately .95cf of air space total. -power handling can be about whatever. I'll be buying a new amp based on the power required. -I'm wanting to spend around $100-$150 per sub. So nothing too fancy. (and if you know of something cheaper t…

So the speakers in my 04 Accord just arent cutting it. I had them sounding good on rap, country, pop, etc but when it came time to play bands like a day to remember or wage war they just were super harsh. So I played with the EQ today and had to basically lower all my settings to make it bearable on the kind of music. It still sounds pretty good on other genres but just not as loud as before. In the past I have always ran coaxial and it is what I prefer for ease of installation. I've also in the past used the HU to power them. I've run Polks DB series many times and like how they sound, also I run JBLs in my gfs TL and they sound pretty good too. But I figured I'd see wha…

Whats up this is my first Post on SSAudio.com's forums. I have been lurking around for a little bit and am a regular poster on CA.com I just have a quick question... I just picked up a 12" Magnum D2 for a temporary system until the new mags come out (hopefully soon). I know the SI website says either 1.5 cubes @ 32 Hz, or 2.0 cubes @ 29 Hz. The 1.5 cubes seems kind of small but the 2.0 @ 29 Hz seems like too low of a tuning. I was wondering if I could do like 2.5 cubes @ 32Hz? What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance!

  8. Whats up guys & girls i'm new to this forum & need your help on subs. I build a sealed enlosure that was suppose to be for 15s & it's about 2.85 cu ft per chamber before displacement for my 90 b2200 cab plus mini truck, Online dealers recommend 12" subs for that size enclosure. So I installed some old school Earthquake 12" subs & don't sound right, So swapped them out for some of the newer Alpine type R subs and still don't sound good. My enclosure looks more for 15's not 12s. The mono amp I'm using is Cadence Zrs C1 which is only good for 1 ohm load.

One of my friend has a problem with one of the 4 coils on his Soundstream XXX 18" (QVC 1°). I think it's blown; it was smelling burnt friday night. This sub is only a few months old. He had a Hifonics Brutus on it (3000 watts rms at 1 Ohm). He admits the box is way too small, and he never uses the SSF on his amp !!!!!!!!!! So, is it possible to find a recone kit for this sub ? And where ? Thanks in advance.

I have an 18" TC 5200 and it works just fine, however, one of the tinsel leads came off from the spider and there is a hole in the spider. There are also some marks on the coil, not sure if its coil rub or what exactly since I dont hear any coil rub. The driver still functions just fine and I've been using it in its condition for several months now, but I would like to have a sub with no flaws, I guess I'm just picky like that. I was wondering who can recone the sub or perhaps get me a new top assembly to match the adapter I have. I might even be interested in another driver, but of course, I'd prefer to go the route that saves the most money. Any suggestions would be …

I bought and installed a recone kit for a Soundsplinter RL-P18 (TC-9 motor). Things were going well, everything aligned properly, or so I thought. When the cone is depressed with equal pressure on it there is no scratching noise so the coil does appear to be misaligned. When running at low volumes (Low excursion) the sub sounds fairly decent, perhaps just a bit too distorted compared to the sub when i had originally bought it. The issues start when I begin to turn it up (300-500 watts). There seems to be a clipping noise of sorts and it becomes very distracting from the useful output of the sub. I cannot test the DCR because I have no working DMM but using a 9 V battery…
