I just got home from a 16hr day at work. This iwas delivered. first impression, good build quality, heavier than expected 29lbs, sharp looking cone and very stiff. So needless to say this put a smile on my face. Now I just need some time to make a few enclosures and test it out. I am thinking one 1ft^3 sealed and the other 2ft^3 30sq in of port tuned to 32-34hz. I will either run it off my SAZ 3000d @ 4ohms or a PG Tantrum 1200.1 @ 4ohms. Maybe this weekend I will have some time. Chad

  3. Sorry, I already know I Posted this in the Fabrication section, but I forgot to make a poll out of it. So I went to go edit it and then I got to thinking, which section should I put this in to get the most attention? So Mod's if you feel necessary, please delete the one you think would attract the least amount of attention, but Id like to have the Poll. Hey guys, I am in the talks with Steve, the owner of Subthump.com. They make some of the best sealed prefabbed boxes I have ever dealt with. They are simply amazing, the prices are budget friendly. Their main focus are on sealed boxes, because they aim at the people who are on a budget and they can mass produce. So I have…

  6. Whats up guys & girls i'm new to this forum & need your help on subs. I build a sealed enlosure that was suppose to be for 15s & it's about 2.85 cu ft per chamber before displacement for my 90 b2200 cab plus mini truck, Online dealers recommend 12" subs for that size enclosure. So I installed some old school Earthquake 12" subs & don't sound right, So swapped them out for some of the newer Alpine type R subs and still don't sound good. My enclosure looks more for 15's not 12s. The mono amp I'm using is Cadence Zrs C1 which is only good for 1 ohm load.

well igot some bad news today. my rl-p 18 came in and fedex must have dropped it. the sub was packaged perfectly, with a 2x4 and mdf crate that supported the sub, and a layer of foam to protect it from shock. but we all know how bad the delivery people throw shit around. the cone is locked up, doesnt move at all. upon closer inspection i noticed the motor had shifted about a quarter of an inch. is there anyway to push it back? or is a recone the only option? heres a picture. you can see where it was on the right side by the whitish line you can kind of see

Any one tried the eminence mids? Seems very similar to the sundown offerings and the price seems great. Wonder how they will go with some morel supremo tweets. I have used their pa speakers with great results but idk about car speakers. Any other suggestions welcome. Application loud daily but sq is important. Thx

  11. I'm going to be mounting subs in the quarter panels of my 06 GTO. I'm looking for 10's to go in sealed boxes .7cu ft or less and no deeper then 5.25". This has been done with success by other gto owners. I'm not looking to hear the downsides of the placement. Here's a pic of where they are going. Any suggestions are welcome, I'd like to keep the price under $350 for the pair of subs.

  12. I was scrolling through PE's website last night and ran across a driver that I found interesting. The Fountek FR135EX 5" Full Range driver. First of all, I'm surprised that anyone could get the upper extension to consider it a full range with a cone that large and I'm sure beaming would be a major issue if used off axis. When I look at them though I see one thing they could do that a 3" couldn't which is lower end extension. The only real problem I have with the 3" full ranges that I'm using now is the fact that lower/deeper vocals and other such information is pretty anemic. That requires the midbass drivers to reach up a little more than is optimal to bridge the ga…

Alright guys so iv got ideas floating around in my head that i cant just ignore. My first idea was selling my 12" bl and getting a 15" zcon for my civic, but then iv been thinking and im curious as to how cool it would be to have 3 10" smaller powered subs facing up and porting back in the trunk. Maybe like 3 12" dcons or fi x's. Would 3 10's off around 1200 watts be louder then my 1 12 off the same power? its almost triple the cone area and would be so cool to pop the trunk to 3 dcons or something simular haha . Or would i just be better off going with 1 15" zcon on about 2200 wats, if i did that then i would need a bigger alt bigger wire and so forth. How much louder if…

lol have yall missed me any? (i know, you havent) anyways, im getting closer to finishing my setup in the mini...i promise ill listen this time, i just wanna hear your suggestions on crossovers for my tweets. the amp will be a MTX TA7402. 300w x 2 @ 1 ohm. will be 16 tweeters, 8 per channel, in parallel, so each channel will be running 8 tweets @ 1 ohm, (300/8 = roughly 38w per tweet) this amp has a pretty nice HPF built in from what it looks like too. so, instead of running one of those 3.3uF caps for a "crossover" what do you suggest? i know i should keep the slope high, around like 36dB or something right (so they dont blow?) what should i cross them at though, and w…

As the title reads: Can a pair of midbass speakers be used on a monoblock amp? I understand they would not be in stereo mode, but how much will/will not affect the 80/90 to 250hz range. Has anyone tried this or am I just pissin in the wind? Asking questions as I plan a new front stage to go with my plans for a wall setup. Thanks

Goodmorning everybody, I just ordered my first 2 ever Sundown Nightshade v.2 15s. Which are going to be powered by (2) Saz-2500. I ordered a midgate box for the 15's from this site. Here's a link so u can get an idea. http://www.carforce1.com/popup_image.php?pID=123&osCsid=ff95f7f7feb2370cf60b02e13253aef1 My question is 3.5 cubic feet of space in that box enough to really enjoy hard thumping bass. And yes I know the pic isn't for 15's in addition the port on mine is bigger than the one in the pic. N no raping please this is my first build. Last system I had was Liberty City Flea Market brands.

I found me box builder for my truck. the enclosure would be a little over 2.4 cubic ft. net so my options are quad 8's in a custom enclosure or two 10's in a fox acoustics enclosure. if I go with the quad 8's what's a good option to go with under $140 per sub our $220 with the dual 10's? I want something thats sound good but somewhat loud at the same time

I have a pontiac g6, just built a box for 2 sa-12's, wired it down to one ohm running off a AQ1200D. I put the box in, turned it on, turned up my volume to my "max" which is 25 out of 35 on my alpine CDE-123. Now the problem is, i turned to to 25, went back to set my gain, and for now im gonna set it using the clipping indicator on the remote knob (until i can get a DD-1) so i kept turning up the gain, and i had to turn it up all the way to get any "decent" output out of the subs and the clipping light didnt even blink, what i mean by "decent" output is it sounded like 2 8's and the subs barely even moved. box is 3.3 cubes after all displacements tuned to 32hz with 15sq i…

posted a thread on ca.com, thought i would mirror it here. excuse the copy paste, if you have any questions/pic requests, lmk, and ill do my best! Alright.. I got the oppertunity to purchase a damaged in shipping M5 spl15 from Mark himself for a STEAL. As it was damaged in shipping, it obviously needs a recone (actually, i am turning this one and another damaged in shipping spl 12 into custom 18's, so..) so i tore it down tonight, without causing damage to the softparts. and thought some of you may care (i have seen a few posts/questions in the last few days wondering about the quality of the m5 stuff) Before i start with the pics- yes i am a mach 5 "fanboi". Marks price…

Hey all! Im in the market for a beefy little 10" woofer that will get loud and sound good doing it too! I'm lookin for something that can offer me great sq as well as great spl. I listen to rap/hiphop, country, dance/techno and some rockish music. I also get into stuff like Dave Matthews Band as well... I'll be changing up from a ported 12in JLw6v2 so Its gota be able to give JL a run for its money and thensome. For those who will wonder, the reason I am going from a 12 to a 10 is because of space... I'ma be moving soon to a bigger city, so I want to do a more compact setup. I'm going custom build a ported fiberglass tube enclosure and a 10 will be perfect for my i…

Hi guys, A tinsel lead broke on one of my mid last week. It's impossible to solder properly, to fix that. So I'm looking for a replacement. My budget is not high enough to just buy a new set like the Focal KR2 or KRX2. I was thinking about a set of JBL gti 608 but I can't find one. I will buy a mini-dsp as soon as the funds are ok, maybe for Xmas. Until then, I will use the passive filters for the Focal tweeters, and I want a set of mids (not to be used on the passive filters). Crossover at 80 or 100 Hz on my Pioneer head unit. I saw a lot of people talking about ScanSpeak speakers, like the Illuminator or the Revelators. Can that be a good choice ? I'll change …
