Hi, I currently got a killer deal on two 6x8 speakers (it was the speakers or wait to get paid back...) I was wondering if any of you guys know a nice simple tutorial, or just an easy way to install 6x8's in 6x9 slots. Also, I have stock speakers (pretty sure its non jbl with 6 speakers [06 camry v6 LE]) If I were to replace only two of my stock speakers for now, what would be the best way to go, back, front, etc?

I see that the recommended enclosure is 2.0 ft^3 tuned to 29hz for the 12" D2. I want about 50/50 with sq and spl...so yeah, i want LSQ . What difference would a bigger box (about 3 or 4 cubes) make? What should I tune it to? I will be running 1000w to it @ 1ohm. This is my first car audio system so bare with me here . I appreciate your help guys! Thanks, -harrison

right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?

Now i need to know what to do with it... Or rather what box size/tuning would be good. As well as how much power it can handle daily. I have about 6ft^3 (before any deductions) total to work with and about 4Kw RMS as well...

Hey everybody! I was just is there a diferrence in power handling between a vented enclosure and a sealed enclosure. I just purchased a DC Audio Level 3 15 with the Level 4 coil option, dual 1 ohm. I'm running a Hifonics HFI 1500d @ 2 ohms 1000rms. I was going to use a 2.25^3 ft. enclosure in a Nissan Altima or could I get away with running that much power in a vented enclosure on the sub? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

to anyone out there claiming to hit a certain number with their solo X 12's do me a favor and OWN their a$$. i am getting kinda sick of seeing the crap floating around and hope i dont have to see it here. maybe if we nip it in the bud in every forum we all visit we wont have to worry about it spreading here. Now if they say their solo X 12 is valid because of a red or black X in fingernail polish, let em believe it, me a tracy are just making a couple bucks off the sucka's we got enough to retire yet tracy? http://cartoys.com/default.cfm/t/Car_Audio...rs/o/Subwoofers Well, as you all might but probably wont know, I have to go to cartoys to get a decent setup. Im getting 4'' in the front, 5 1'4 in the rear, and I want a sub. Now, I want to get all in one thing, so I dont have to bother to upgrade for a while. Hypothedicly, saying I were too, what do you think I should get. I have a rear deck, and in that deck I have a med kit. I can take that out and get a rear deck cover, so thats like a vent for the sound. So eitehr I sink an 8'' in the deck, or I open it up, and get something in the trunk. Odds are good I will go with the trunk idea, then gettin on in the back deck. So, su…

I have a bit of a delima. I am going to have two 8" subs and planned to put them in my truck, but I now realize I have quite a bit less space than first anticipated. My question is, would it be better to place one sub in more space, or to put both of them into quite a bit less space? The subs are soundsplinter rl-i8's, and I have about .72ft^3 total to work with. That would be about .28ft^3 per driver after displacement. Or I could put just one in about .64ft^3 after displacement. So which would produce more output, one with more space or two with less. I will be pushing it with a memphis amp which gives 1100 rms at 1 ohm.

I am currently running active with a set of ID XS65 in the stock door location of my '02 Tahoe on a Zapco ST-4X. While it sounds ok, it is not loud enough for me. I have done zero deadening to the doors thus far, though I did that on purpose so I could hear the difference for myself when I follow the recommendations of Don(SDS) for doing up the doors. I find myself having to dial back the mids to balance things out anyway, which seems odd to me considering the tweeters have a higher sensitivity and are receiving the same power. When I set the gains I had the tweeters crossed at 2.5k with a 24db slope. I played some music and went up til I had a nasty irritation/screech in…

The second battery resides behind the passenger seat which is un-covered at the moment and I installed the HO alt today. Voltage at idle is 14.5 volts and everything is louder. The Sundown Audio amplifier LOVES voltage for sure - on the Fall Out Boy CD it was just as loud on vol. 50 as it was previously on 60. My doors also rattle more now than they used to. And the sub stage is considerably louder now since the amplifier is actually getting the voltage that it needs. I can finally get the subs moving over an inch. Mad props to multiple batteries and HO alts!

I had a account here a while ago, but I guess it got deleted, wierd . But getting to the point, Ive had a 12" Mag still in its original packaging sitting under my bed for a few months now and its about time I got in a box. There were a few options I was looking at, I) 3.5 ft^3 at 32 hz II) 1.3 ft^3 sealed Looking for lowend output, hard slamming bass Probably gonna give it 600-800 watts, due to stock electrical system. Thanks for your input.

Say we have a sub like a kicker cvr , kickers prefab package they sell is with the subs at a bare minimum on air space 1.75 cubes and tuned around 40 to 42hz . Say we take the subs put into a larger box with 2.25 cubes still with same tuning would you gain anything?

im wanting to step my subwoofer game up to 2 nightshade 15's. currently i have 4 rockford fosgate p3 12's in a ported box tuned to 37-38hz powered by a sundown 3500. i have 2 interstate batterys in the back and an optima red top up front, 200 amp alt, big 3 in 0 awg, 1 run of + and - 0 awg to the back. all this is in a 4 door chevy blazer. right now my 12's are doing 147.2 at 46hz and they stay in the high 146's on music. my main question is if i upgrade to 2 nightshade 15's and put them in a 6.5 cuft box ported to 32-34hz, will there be an audible difference in sound? my good buddy brought up this point to me. i just want to be sure itll be louder before i go spend 1000 …

ok so basically ive been spoiled over the years and had good speakers but i also had a much larger budget to work with earlier in life. i.e. ia death penalty 2nd gen re audio xxx ascendent audio assassins stuff of that nature. well i bought back my old assassins some time back because i loved their sound but they were about 12 years old and finally had enough and the surround fatigued. i already had a nice birch box made and well i couldnt just toss it and i bought some skar audio vvx-3 to fill the holes. well u cant put skars in a box for better speakers and still be in love so im getting rid of them and getting better speakers. dont get me wrong they get loud and p…

Here is the delima, I can either run 2 15" Fi Q sealed in a 4.5 cuft enclosure (net vol.) or 1 15" ported in a 4 cuft enclosure (net vol.) tuned to 30 Hz. Now what am looking for is clean, low end bass with the potenial to get loud. Looking at both setups, which would produce cleaner low end bass. Am not looking to compete or anything, its just a nice low end daily setup for my personal uses. Am also willing to play around with tuning if there is any suggestion. Thanks in advance for the response.
