Correct me if I'm wrong, is it true that the more X-Max a sub has the louder it'll get sealed? If so, has anyone tried the FI Q series subs sealed yet? 27mm sounds like a really good amount of excursion. Was wondering because a friend of mine is considering a pair of them sealed with a 2000 - 2500 watt amp and he prefers sealed setups and wants a loud sealed setup with good SQ.

Whats goin on guys, i'm going to be running 2 15's sealed and I can't make up my mind with all the quality runnin around these days. I am looking into: DC lvl 3 IA Lethal Injection SSA Icon RE SE FI Q I don't know how to read the t/s to see what would act best but I have ~5 cubes gross so I have enough room for them, just no clue what to run subwise. I want loud, and I want a good quality of sound. Oviously ported would be best but I want 2 15's, and i'm not against sealed so that's what i'm going with. Any help is appreciated.

This was posted on a different forum and I'd like some input from some of brainiacs on this forum. It seemed to be a simple answer at first, but became more complicated the more I thought about it. I don't know if more information is needed to answer this or not. Here's the proposed question as well as a link to the thread. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/general-car-audio-discussion-no-question-dumb/110780-noobish-question-but-ive-never-heard-answered-fully-sealed-vs-ib-output.html

I am interested in buying a subwoofer or two for my new daily driver system. They will be powered by a US Amps AX3200de with all proper electrical requirements. I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe and box size is no concern to me. I also am installing some second skin damplifier this weekend along with an arc audio fd4150 and two pairs of eclipse sc8365s. I am interested in having a SQ system with a lot of output (I am settling with the door speakers I have for now, heard they are not the best for quality). I listen to a wide array of music but mostly southern rap, metal, trance, and blues. Also, if possible, I love deep, low bass so don't hessitate to recommend a subwoofer w…

For those of you that have owned both pair OR heard both pair in a similar environment please comment on which you prefer and why? I am in the market for a nice set for components, and I am being torn between several sets. A new set just came up... Seas. I had never heard of them before, and someone told me they are the best sounding speaker for the money. I was just wondering how they hold up against the Focal 165K2P comps since I have listened to them extensivly. Thanks for the information...

I have an AQHDC315 d1. wired to a AQ 1200.1 at 0.5 ohms. I am thinking about getting a second 1200.1 and bridging them. The question is will making this upgrade be significantly louder to the ear. I know its hard to say because it always depends on box, setup, installation, etc. but I am just trying to get an idea.

Hello: I would greatly appreciate any input on securing or mounting my sub box to the rear trunk of my car (Mazda 3 Sedan). I found some references to using Velcro, L brackets etc., to secure the box to the trunk. Any other ideas or sugestions? Thank You! TSS

  12. Hello all. While at first this will certainly seem to be just another "what sub is better" thread, I am indeed seeking the advice of those familar with the possibility spelled out in the thread title. My goals are: 1). Sound quality for multiple genres. 2). Lowest possible frequency response, whether ported and tuned low or sealed in a large dual chamber enclosure. 3). Adequate SPL, albeit valued below sound quality. 4). Would a single 1000 watt subwoofer circumvent and/or surpass the supposed goals of dual 500 watt subwoofers, or would the contrary do so? I have been considering the 15" Icon, as well as the 15" IDmax for a single subwoofer application. As for the dual …

  13. Does anyone know if these horns are worthwhile? I'm gonna tell u what i have and what it's doing so if u got any other recommendations, let me know. I have 2 ID 6.5s in the front and 2 ID 6.5" midbass woofers in the rear. They are all ran off of a sundown 100.4 I had first set the HP for the fronts around 300hz and the rears were bandpassed from 50-400hz. When i had it setup this way, the rears were 100% inaudible. I have redid the x-over since then i have it setup something like this- fronts are HP at 700hz and rears are bandpassed from 50-800hz. This makes the music sound more deep and rich-like but because there is so much range lost up front, there's quite a few songs…

hey everyone, I have an Fi Q12, in a 2.2 cuft ported box with a memphis prd 1000.1, but i really want more truck space. So i was going to just get a 1.2 cuft box for my Q12. But the new mag seems very interesting. Will the new mag preform better with a memphis prd 1000.1 and 1.1 sealed box then the Fi Q12? Sell my box and fi Q12 to my friend who is in love with my set up and get a 1.1 cuft box and get the new MAG? or. Keep the Q12 and get a 1.2 cuft box thanks

I'm sure I won't be dissapointed with the new one, but if the claw is in perfect working condition and I sold it for a new one, how big of a differance is there? I would rather send in the claw and get it a face lift with all new SID2 parts, but I'm sure that would cost consideralbly more that a new one and more than I got. I'm also considering it just to get something new. I tried an avalanche, did not compare, type r (just cause) sounded good, but not a mag. But in order to get a new SID2, the claw would have to be sold. Hmmmm what to do.......

Alright ive been looking around at subs for a while now and ive kind of narrowed my search down a bit i want to keep it around 400 bucks if i do a single 12" or under 500 for two 10"s (i can buy one at a time). So the drivers ive been looking at so far are the Mach 5 SPL 12 which already has a triple stack magnet. The btl 12" with the third mag and longer coil (no cooling cant afford it), or two fi Q10"s. I like loud bass. I want to hear the words over the bass, but dont mind if the music is flooded with bass (running four boston coax's til i have money for two sets of components to replace em). This is mostly for daily driving I will be powering it with a PA a3000db (not…

Hi, im new. LoL hooray for introductions. Anyhow, I currently have the following: 1 12" JL 12w3v2-d4 1 12" Alpine Swr-1242D 1 Kenwood KAC-7202 At this time, I love having both subs but can only hook one up at a time. I drive a GrandAm, and its a pain in the ass to try to fix any boxes between the wheel-wells. Ive only had success with one box so far, and that was the ThunderTC enclosure I had for my 5500's before I sold them. I have two seperate sealed boxes for each, and want to try to place them in both corners of my trunk, but wire them to the sub to provide the most bass possible. Either one works great in parallel, but when I do that and bridge it, the amp runs VERY …

I'm pretty much set on what I want to get. 2 Mach5 IXL 10's 1 Phoenix Gold RSD 1200.1 Ported Box tuned to 34 or 35 Hz Each sub will be getting 600 Watts rms. Is this a pretty good set-up for a good amount of SQ and loudness(Right now I have 2 12" Memphis in 2 supersmall wedge enclosures(Sealed) and 300 watts total) ? Another question about the box. Should I put both in same compartment or each in sperate compartments with their own ports.?

hello all, i currently have one dual 2ohm xxx15 in a snail shell designed enclosure wired to a bx1500d at one ohm. ive had this setup for about a year and it is very loud and sounds very good, but with this hobby, you all know how it goes; you always want to try something new and im still quite the bass-head.. ive wanted to try ddaudio for years and i think its about time. so, i was wondering if any of you guys would recommend the dd3500 series. ive always been a single-sub kind of guy, but 2 12s sound so intriguing because of the added cone area over a single 15, especially that of the dd variety, though the 9900

What's the popular vote on these setups? -2 12" SSD's w/copper coil ported to specs -1 12" BL w/ cooling and universal ported to specs (Could also do 15", only reason for 12" was the possible addition of a second later) -1 15" Q w/ BP sealed to specs Looking for Rap/Hip-Hop based Daily Driver with low end and gets loud while being run off a KX1200.1 at 1ohm (1350rms) Thanks Chris

hello, i have a 15" icon powered by a jl 1000 amp. its in a pro box ported enclosure. i set the amp up according to the jl tech's instructions and when i really crank on it sometimes the speaker gives off a burning smell. it did it twice so i dont crank it that hard anymore. i purchased my sub during the free sub box deal was going on and got it with a 4 cu 33hz box and when i would turn the sub volume all the way on the head unit is when i first smelled the burning so i took it back out of that box and put it back in the pro box. my question is am i clipping the sub or do i need to step up to the xcon. i have my settings on the amp at the recommended settings and only ha…

Hey guys! Like the title says, I'm getting a brand new setup on a new car, but i'm not too familiar with subs and amps. I stumbled upon this site (an awesome site by the way ) and learned so much already! So now I turn it over to your thoughts and opinions! Here's what I'm looking for. I want a 12" sub in a sealed box. I want a good amp that works very well with the sub. I don't want to loose too much trunk space (need to fit my mountain bike in there.) I've been leaning toward the rl-p after everything i've read, but I'm not sure if I should wait for that new D2. I would like to get the sub in a week or two. I want something that sounds good and hits hard and low, b…
