Subwoofers / Speakers

My 4x 12" baby Magnums are on their way... Not sure how I `m going to install them in the Vectra. I`m not bothered about Peak SPL and prefer to have a system that plays low frequencies very loud. I`m aiming for over 140dB @ 20Hz in a trunk / boot install. Should easily do it with an I.S.O. set up. Using 2x MMATTS amps. Each pair of subs will be getting about 1400wrms. (2800wrms) Photo`s when I get started. Got to finish the Escort 1st. Just like to thank "Sundown Audio" for all their help as well

So finally I paid of Rusty and got my subs shipped out to me on tuesday. And the very unhappy FedEx driver showed up to my house on Thursday. Big hats of to Rusty. Hi. I havn't been on here in a while. I just gt my system all hooked up and everything sounds good. I just had one more question; What kind of speakser would fit my front door speakers for a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT? I would like Kicker front speakers with built in tweeters, but I am not sure as to what size would fit my car. If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.

does the nightshade even compare to the btl is it louder?

i know everything is install related, but i want to try to get a general consensus i asked this question on another forum as well subs are DC lvl 3 as far as output, im quite sure i would be happy with either setup. my buddy has 2 12" type r's sealed up and they are loud enough for me (but louder still is better) my goal then is to hit as low as possible with these subs (i listen to rap, so the lowest i would need to think about would be like in "put on": ~25hz) i typically set my crossover around 65-70hz, so anything above that im not worried about currently front is stock, but will be upgraded soon; looking at rainbow and hertz right now.... 12's ported, box hopefully e…

Is there a way to check how DVC sub is wired without taking it out of the box by using a dmm? I would assume to just check the + and - coming out of the box (theres only 2 terminals in the back). And see what the ohms read. Am i correct or no.

looking to spend $450 or less. currently, im looking at the cdt audio es-62i or the re audio xxx components. i know these components sell for a lot more but there are places online that are offering deals on them. i have a 200watt eclipse amp (willing to upgrade if necessary). im looking for a set that will go well with 2 ported 12s (like fi q or icons) that will be either powered with 1500watts or 2500watts. i dont have any access to listen to different components so i have to decide from experiences people have online. if you recommend other components, please post them as well. appreciate the help!

i'm building my new crx style box for my dd 9515 2-morrow. i wanna know what i should tune my spl port too.i have it designed for 50hz right now,but i wanna wait and get some peeps opinions on it 1st.i will be building a 36hz daily slip for the box also. i'm gonna call digital designs in the morning and see what they think. thanx guys. charles :thud:

So I have a 15" fi Q with a 1500 watt clarion amp in my accord, but im looking to trade in the q for something else. I can not afford a new amp, or any electronics upgrades, so 1500 @ 1 ohm is my max power. Im tired of the q because i have almost no trunk space right now and it makes grocery shopping for 3 or 4 people kind of difficult. Im not sure if it would sound good in a 3^3 ish box but FI says it can be from 2.8-4, but something new is always fun so ill probably switch out. I want to stay as close as possible to as loud as I am now, and want it to sound even from low lows to higher lows...(my 45-60 response is rather weak right now but i think its because its a 4^3 …

Last I had the system installed I was running my 15" Ti in a 4.3^3ft enclosure tuned to ~24Hz with roughly 750w on it. Loved the way it performed but I sold the Viper, partly because I needed money and parly because I plan on keeping the Ti and didnt like not using the amp to its full extent. Im thinkin around 1.2-1.5kW in something around 3^3ft tuned to a fairly low frequency. What do yall think for a daily set-up? I dont have any programs any more, they are all on the desktop which is en-route to Norfolk right now so I can't plot the enclosure size and tuning to see how it would work out. I know Denim has a lot of experience with Ti's, anyone else?

Current stuff is on the way out, heres what i have so far: Eclipse AVN 2210p double din cd/nav unit Alpine Type X SPX17-REF 6.5" components (07 model) DLS A5 amp (for sale, will be replaced with Arc KS900.6) Components will be bi-amped, channels 5&6 will be bridged at 1ohm for sub which should be ~550-600w. I'm leaning to a pair of new Assassin 10's ported in a console box but may get a pair of the 12's in a more conventional arrangement behind the seat. Truck is an 07 Ram reg cab so i have plenty of room, budget is $250.

I'm looking for one 18 i can give 2500w. I wanted one of the new BTL's but I messaged Fi and they told me they were in the process of moving and so production is a little slow right now. I currently have a 3cuft3 box tuned at 40hz for my Soundstream SPLX sub @ 1k rms. I found out that the box is way to big for this sub thats why it sounds like the bass is "lagging". I have looked around and found that the Mach5 SPL 12" is the best for price to performance ratio but i have a couple questions that you guys might be able to answer. What size box will i need and whats the best tuning frequency for a loud daily running 2k rms (Unless thats to much) And will i have to order one from the US as i am from Australia but the Aus site only lists the SPL 15" not the 12" and my email hasn't been replied to. Im sure this isnt the right section. But its been a few months since I have posted here due to my new job and everything. Anyway. I am buying two Mach 5 Maw-15's And I was wondering is it possible to fit a 4.0 cu ft box in my trunk. I am driving a 1996 Ford Taurus GL. I would get the 12's But the 350 power rating kinda makes me speculate. I currently have 2 Memphis 12 PR's and I hate them. But the rating on them is 250rms, So Im not sure if the maw-12's would be much better in terms of output. But hey what do I know. Also I dont have the recommended sealed enclosure size for the 12's. ARG please help. I want Mach 5's I am driving a '96 Taurus GL. whats my best bet?

My friend wants to purchase my 1.8 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 30 hz along with my MTX amplifier that is rated at 400 watts RMS. He also wants to purchase a 12" Re Audio subwoofer. Which sub would you recommend to him if he had the setup I mentioned above? Would he be underpowering the SE while reaching full potential with the SR? He is not really into SQ as I am, but he wants his bass to be loud and extremely low. Which sub would be better off with 400 watts RMS? Thanks
