I'm expanding my research here so i can get the pros and cons of different equipment. In an earlier thread, Dave Brooks and other suggested i use HLCDs with 4Kw of bass so i don't drown out the stock tweeters that wouldnt be there by that time anyway. Anyway, i came across another gadget, a Horn Loaded tweeter with specs as good, if not Better than Image Dynamics HLCDs. These tweeters cost a little less, but i have questions on the technology in general, not really the product itself. Well my GF's mom is getting her tax check soon which measn im going to be planning their systems soon. Her moms system is pretty cut and dry. Either cheaper ocmponets up fron in pods and coax's in the rear or coax's all aroudn and an RL-I 8 or 10 for the sub. My GF's car, however, im not sure. i was going to give her my audiobahn 10's and put them in a wicked one...but i found a buyer. Soooo im thinking about getting her 2 RLi 8's or 10's and putting them in a wicked one. However she wants to keep her trunk space so my idea is this. Hello, I am somewhat new here and just purchased yesterday a pair of MJ18's. Gentleman had four of them in a wall behind the second seat in an Astro van and they sounded wonderful. I do believe he goes by Stu something here. Anyway I wanted to know what the cut-out Diameter is for these subs. Thanks, Chris

Well I am going to purchase a D2 15" monday and I needed some help on building an enclosure. On the website it says that SI reccomends the box be 4 cu/ft vented to 28 hz. I was reading around on the forums people doing like 2.1 cu/ft boxes ported to 30 hz. Whats the deal with this? I love deep deep bass but also like a bit of SQ in the mix. I will be running the sub off a hifonics bx1500. What do you guys recommend I build? Thanks

So, iv finally got my subwoofer enclosure finished, and set up in my trunk. After listening to it for a while it was surprisingly accurate, id say even more accurate than my Type X's which are actually supposed to be SQ drivers. Overall super impressed, and obviously it gets nice and loud.

curious what pair of 15" sub woofers would thrive in a box that is about 7.5 cubes and tuned real low.....about 25hz..

I'm thinking about doing an IB set-up for space reasons. What can I expect sound-wise when compared to sealed and ported enclosures?

Hey guys.....i am not sure what too do guys.....i have one IDMAX 12" dual two ohm...in which i am running 2 zed audio mini's.....think i could jus use one for the sub.....but i want a lil more bass.....and was thinking about getting rid of the one IDMAX 12" and getting 2 / 13inch JL Audio w3's.....one per Zed Audio Minilith.....I am planning on leaning toward SQ......but want too be heard "if u know what i mean".......Should i jus get another idmax 12' or change into the JL's......in both situations i would give a mini per sub....can u all tell me the benefit of getting another IDMAX or changin too the JL AUDIO's...THANKS GUYS.....have taken the POWER into consideration a…

I have been reading and I haven't found a post that is exactly what I'm looking for. I have just been introduced to all these different sub woofer lines that I have never heard or seen before. And I need some opinions from people who have had experience with any woofers. I'm looking for a single setup with no more than 1500 watts. I wont say that I want sound quality since everyone has a their own definition of quality. I am looking for a very deep bass. The kind that you feel. I don't like punchy bass. Very smooth transient response is what I look for the most. And most important is a very crisp sound. I don't know if any of these wants can all be achieved at the same ti…

I know the website recommends box specs at 2 cubes net tuned to 32. However, I think that the literature I received with the sub said 2.3 cubes net tuned at 30. I am sure that either will work. This will be my first ported box (don't worry, I am not building it myself) and I admittedly don't know any more than what I have read. Anyway, my question is, which way should I go with this -- 32 or 30? If it helps, I am more into sq than spl. (And would it even make that much of a difference?)

I bought a pair of 3-way 6x9s (pioneer, not the best, but definately better than the stock 99 dodge stereo), and was thinking about adding another pair under the backseat after i get my sub. Would it hurt to get 2-ways (would it sound bad mixed with the 3-ways). I dont see any reason not to, but maybe im missing something.

Hey i am new. I was wondering if the sub woofer brands on this site are more reliable then lets say kicker and audiobahn. I am an audiobahn guy and have my system deck out. I never knew about sites like this because they are not in retail stores around here. Planning on putting either the 15" Fi Q I already have or getting a 15" BL in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both would be in a ported box to specs. I've read hundreds of user reviews and have a good idea of what both can do. The Q I've only heard in a sealed box with around 1.8 cu ft at the most. Would it honestly be worth it to go through the process of selling my Q and getting a BL? Looking for ""SQL"" and basically if the BL isn't going to be noticably louder considering the Q will play lower I'm going to stick with the Q. But idk what would you do? I definately want output while mainting decent sound, playing low etc.

I'm just looking to hear what other people's preferences are about full range / component speakers. My system is getting installed next week and after MAJOR hassles trying to get Memphis to send the right speakers and amps I'm going with all Infinity (a mix of components, full ranges, and an amp. With 2 15" LIs and cadence amp for bass). I've had Infinity speakers before and liked them quite well for the price, but I hear lots of people say they are too loud on the highs and have no midbass (with a definition of midbass being below 100hz). could two 12" type x's take a aq3500d amp wired to 1ohms? or would it be better to run them on the aq2200d amp? also box recommendations? i no it should be sealed an tuned to 32hz but how many cubes should i give each sub for them to perform there best? also ill have the electrical to back all this up this will be a daily set up no comps or nothin

I just ordered to Fi Q 15 subs and a AQ2200D amp. I currently have some Best Buy pioneer speakers in my truck and would like to know what i should up-grade to for better sound quality at high bass volumes. I am putting this setup in an ext. cab dodge dakota, so i will have to get 2 pair of these speakers or component system. I am will to spend up to about the $200 range. Any suggestions? I am looking for a good component set that is $250 or less maybe a little bit more if needed. They have to be 5.25. i want some good sounding speakers that can get loud.
