I know the website recommends box specs at 2 cubes net tuned to 32. However, I think that the literature I received with the sub said 2.3 cubes net tuned at 30. I am sure that either will work. This will be my first ported box (don't worry, I am not building it myself) and I admittedly don't know any more than what I have read. Anyway, my question is, which way should I go with this -- 32 or 30? If it helps, I am more into sq than spl. (And would it even make that much of a difference?)

okay i will be getting everything that's in my room installed either today or tomorrow depending on the shop's availiability. but i would really like to know how to stuff my box with polyfil. i went to wal-mart and found that they come in pillow shapes like 12 x 8 or somethin and they are different sizes. now am i supposed to just buy a couple of those and cut them open and dump what's inside into my box or what? i have a 2.3 cubes sealed box after displacement. how many of these things should i buy? now this question should probably be somewhere else but hey i'm using stereo integrity products so i thought i'd just get all the help i can at once. since i will be getting…

came across SSA today while shopping for some news subs. i have a kenwood excelon amp which pushes 600rms x1 at 2ohms and its 1ohm stable but with no power rating. i posted on crutchfield.com and by chance someone mensioned the ssa icon 12" that he heard. i dont think i have the power for that sub.... i listen to metal and atternative rock. so i goin for a sq or LSQ kind of set up. buget is $250 max. i build my own box and understand box construction. my old subs where 3 12" kicker comps (my first system so dont bash me about them. lol) just looking for something that will keep me satified for the next couple year while im at college. so this is basicly my only upgrade i…

I'm thinking about doing an IB set-up for space reasons. What can I expect sound-wise when compared to sealed and ported enclosures?

I am more of an SQ guy, but now I have my D2's I am curious. My set-up is all about SQ, I don't really have the amps to spit out SPL figures, but to those that have or know of, what sort of SPL are we talking about with a set of either 12's or 15's,, I mean has anybody burnt a set yet while spanking them.. and how hard were they been spanked.. I love mine too much to chance it but it would be nice to know what has been done so far.. TIA

I Just got the ca clue for my dustcaps and now i finally have 2 working XXX 15s. I jacked my friends sealed box he built for his XXX 15 in a trunk and due to size i have it facing up at an angle. It sounds loud as fudge even running at 1kw and actually keeps up to techno as compared to the ported box i had before (made for an MT so the bar wasnt set high) Anyway i sorta have 2 options interms of a box for me. I can either Try a T-line for a single 15 running off 1kw (only issues are size because its a 32" box and the top of my trunk is only 31"... i sorta want to see if a chitload of sanding may work to give me the angle i need and how well it may work for the XXX because…

Hey i am new. I was wondering if the sub woofer brands on this site are more reliable then lets say kicker and audiobahn. I am an audiobahn guy and have my system deck out. I never knew about sites like this because they are not in retail stores around here. I was just hoping to get some insight on why these subs are so much cooler them mine and they aren't every where.

my plan was to run a single 15 sealed in about 2.3cuft. i did some more measuring last night and i could maybe get 3cuft. i may have to rethink my amp mounting. so i narrowed it down to an Fi 15Q (will work if i go sealed), Fi 15SSA, (will not work sealed), and the DC level 3 15 (sealed or ported). my amp will run 800rms at 4ohm, 1600peak. i am interested in the level 3 15; it is the lowest rated sub in the group. are those numbers conservative? i did pm rusty. he said it would run fine at that level sealed. how are hard have those who own one pushed it? am i really losing much going sealed. i guess i am gun shy. thanks.

Hey there. I just wanted to request that you put up an archive section on your website where it tells t/s specs and recommended enclosures for older models. I was looking for the specs for the older BM's and found what I was looking for on another site, but it shouldn't eat too much bandwith and it's always nicer to have an official place of reference on the manufacturer's site imho. Thanks for reading. Time to go back to lurking. =)

Actually 2 sets. Budget approx $400 for both sets. They'll both be powered off a Sundown sax100.4...the front set getting full power. The rear set will be set low, so power handling isn't an issue there. They don't need to match, but the front set needs to be loud. They need to be able to handle the sine sweeps of bass music. I burnt out a couple sets of tweets with bass music. Apparantly, I need some components that are tougher than infinity reference's. What would you recommend? Should I get $100 rears and $300 fronts? or two sets of $200 for front and back? Should I buy a low end set of Rainbows or CDT's...or a higherend set of Kickers or Alpines?

For my summer rebuild I'm considering doing either 2x the new Sundown X-12's or some Fi BL's but I'd like some opinions on the BL beforehand. The main thing I'm concerned about is that they'll be too peaky, I ran a pair of them through WinISD in 4 cubes tuned to 32hz and it showed them EXTREMELY peaky and that is not what I want. So anyone that has heard or used these please give some input.

i have some dayton rs180's ( 7 in.) that i recently purchased. my car takes 6x8's up front and 6x9's in the rear. other then using a piece of wood to mount the speakers what other method could i use that will give me some clearance and also allow me to install the speakers so that they do not come in direct contact with the door. i have heard of adapters but i do not know if they will help me in my case. these are the speakers specs: Specifications: *Power handling: 60 watts RMS/90 watts max *VCdia: 1.5" *Le: .90 mH *Znom: 8 ohms *Re: 6.4 ohms *Frequency range: 40-2,200 Hz *Fs: 38 Hz *SPL: 87.6 dB 2.83V/1m *Vas: .88 cu. ft. *Qms: 2.00 *Qes: .47 *Qts: .38 *Xmax: 6 mm *Dime…

Noob thinking out loud here. So in a ported enclosure, is the sub having to work "less" near port frequency? The sub moves less, but what does that mean from a power handling standpoint (if anything)? Is it easier for a sub to take power near the tuning frequency? I believe I've read about "thermal" power handling. Does that mean there is another unit of measure for power handling? I could be way off, but from what I recall, it seems thermal is constant with no regard for enclosure, but another aspect of power handling does take enclosure into consideration. Hope I'm coming close to conveying what I'm trying to say here lol. Also, I hear people talking about "efficient"…
